Any particular reason why Don Vito looked at Sonny when he said this?

I'm not sure if there is an intended hidden meaning but did Don Vito look at Sonny as he delivered this line for a reason? Was is it because Sonny is cheating on his wife & we're led to know that the Don knows about his son affair? Or was it just the Don trying to teach his son a lesson regardless?

I feel like only Vito treated Tom with love & respect

Not only as his loyal consigliere, but Vito considered Tom really like a son & family. There were instances wherein both Sonny & Mike treated Tom with less than a family member & it really sucks.

Even when Mike made the decision to time out Tom from the family, Vito was the one to treat Tom with compassion & explain to him the reasoning.

Mike might be a good tactician, but he was terrible at dealing with people. He was merely respect imo, more like feared.

By the way, Tony killed Manny for more than just sleeping with Gina

Just wanted to point out that for Tony, Gina was that last innocent pure part in his life. When he found out about her & Manny, despite his anger due to his best friend sleeping with his sister behind his back even after warning him, it's deeper than simply that.

Manny took that last innocent & pure part from Tony, or so Tony thought at that moment. At that moment we see Tony full of rage & disguist, perhaps the sharpest look on his face in the entire movie. He was consumed by rage & wrath by the end of the movie.

Sometimes I wish there was an alternative ending wherein Manny told Tony a night before & then they both fight back the ambuscade & win the war against Sosa. But I think the ending we have is more realistic.

Tony character made him climb fast, but it also made him decline fast. His strongesta asset is also his weakest.

Not sure whose more useless, Fredo, or Corleone guards trying to go after Sonny

Tom called out the guarsd to go after Sonny like literally less than 15 seconds after Sonny left. You'd think they'd make it on time, or at least engage in a fight with Sonny's killers, but nah, the opps took their time, even gave Sonny a feet kick to the face, & the guards are no where to be seen.

This scene pissed me off.

You're the Joker. What story would you tell people about how you got these scars?

"I must say no to you, and I will give you my reasons". What Vito taught me in this scene.

Like many other scenes in the Godfather, there are always many lessons to learn about how to communicate, how to handle different situations, how to do business talk, & so on.

However, something I have learned from this scene which I have applied for a while in my life is, to always give reasons after you tell someone no or reject them. Not just in business, but in pretty much every aspect of life. Friendships, relationships, partnerships, etc. It's a good way to let the other person know why you refuse, and it's also a good way to help them not dwell over your decision or see it from a different angle, an angle that perhaps you didn't intend to begin with. It saves a lot of misunderstandings.

I must say no to you, and I will give you my reasons is such a powerful & moral thing to do.

This movie is brilliant.

The scene that made me realise Mike was about that life

There is a shared sentiment that Mike changed to the audience the moment he proposes to take odown the opps in the restaurant. For me,I think this is where Mike changed. I would also to add that if Mike had a gun here, he wouldn' fumble like Fredo did, I'd think he'd do way better& protect his father to the last breath. I mean, it takes balls to a miove a bluff like this, & luckily, the opps bought it & decided not to engage in a gun fight.

Mike acted cold as ice, a big factor that dictates someone is mentally strong & hard to panick/confuse in intense moments. I mean, look at his decision making, he did everything textbook right.

The immediate realisation of the need to have his father protected,to immediately doing something about it. It took Mike less than a minute to start running inside the hospital. You could feel his anxiety raising as he arrives to the first floor & increases as he goes forward to room 2 where his father was. Called for backup, changed his father room, protected entrance, absolue cinema.

"It's not me Kay, it's my family". I think the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Mike had it all in him, it just took some factors for him to to switch up. Something that SOnny has already knew, as ou fellow this sub enjoyer u/Possile-Advisor-285 pointed out yesterday in his post the real reason why sonny was laughing (and it wasn’t out of doubt.)

I really love Peter Clemenza.

I really love Peter Clemenza. It's one of my favourite characters in the movie/book. What are your thoughts on him?

Michael should have banned Fredo from the family business way sooner.

I've been thinking a lot about how Mike almost got himself killed by allowing his stupid unreliable brother to be part of the family in a way that could hinder both the family & Mike personal well being. It is almost like leaving a gun with protection on around a toddler, sure, the safety is on, but the risk is always there. I think Fredo should have been out of family business the moment he took side with Moe Greene.

Mike took a huge chance with Fredo being around, he could have gotten himself killed. Also, to prevent this entire mess, he should have simply put Fredo out, Fredo wouldn't be in a position to do anything that would get him killed by Mike in the first place.

I reviewed a paper for the first time!

The Editor has sent me a request through the platform the first time, then sent me another email after I didn't accept initially asking for my expertise. It turned out the authors worked on something that heavily relied on an idea I have presented two years ago. So I accepted & review the paper & sent out my comments. I was reviewer #2. I asked for minor revisions, & so did the 2 other reviewers.

I kind of regret publishing that idea in a Q2 journal, I should have rather went for a Q1. I think I was somehow intimidated by the journal & the authors there, felt like perhaps I'm not on the same calibre. Still, I am very happy about how everything turned out.

I think reviewing this paper has really boosted my confidence & has encouraged me to try to publish in Q1 in the future!

My take on Paco is that he knew Joe is the bad guy for keeping Beck locked up but still chose to ride and die with Joe

Obviously there are a lot of explanations on why >!Paco didn't save Beck!<, such as him thinking Beck was a bad guy, or that she knows about >!Ron!<.

However, my honest take on this is that >!Paco loved Joe!<. And he chose to r>!ide and die with Joe!<. He knew >!Beck was not the bad guy, but he made the hard decision to slide with Joe!<. I think it shows how Joe >!being there for him has impacted him, and hence Paco loved him.!<

Got into a heated argument with coach & was fired from the gym

For a bit of context, 29M & been training in this gym for a while. I have one sparing partner & coach. I don't disagree with coach a lot tbh, he knows what he does & he's quite respectful.

Yet, I've been noticing people are put in sparing sessions with by far advanced ops & it keeps bothering me. Yesterday I entered the gym & was getting ready, I've seen this kid getting beaten up badly by another kid that is visibly more advanced. It was literally one person beating up the other person like a punching bag, not even proper defence, straight up punches to the head & kicks connecting back to back.

Shit was depressing to see. I told coach that the kid shouldn't be put in sparing yet & shti got heated up quickly. I was fired shortly after.

Is this normal behavior to put ops from different skill sets? Is this how we're supposed to get better?

Add "I'm looking" Flairs

I've been seeing posts about receiving unwanted dms from this sub frequently.

I suggest to add flairs such as "I'm looking", "I'm not looking" or something like that, so that people would know whether this person is welcoming DMs from strangers or not.

I think this would be helpful also for people that are trying/open to meet new people here.

What do you guys think?
