what made you do it and did you not regret it?

what sparked an interest in animating on FN? what did you learn a long the way? i'm thinking maybe there is something in me that has it. or is interested in the process. or maybe i am just larping and my brain is playing tricks on me.

why do i have this lingering feeling to an*mate on flip note?

i am thinking i am far too gone here. i feel i am really starting to play with fire here. i don't think i know what i am getting into and its disturbing. i have "an**ated" before on it and a couple videos here and there (some i weirdly kinda zoned out to and got invested in? may have been a rare moment where my adhd meds worked for one time and sadly never again..). but this time i am going further on the edge. and one massive mistake can and will send me into a devastating state of fear and regret..

i am really pushing the limits and getting way too outside of my comfort zone. and i am afraid. very afraid.

is it true that back in the 2000s and early 10s that fps games like halo were scene as normie slop and fps games like quake and half life 1998 were touted as being superior fps games in gaming forums?

one thing i really find interesting about early online gaming discourse is how supposedly halo was not seen as the revolutionary classic it is seen as today. a lot of boomer shooter and even half life fans weren't too fond of its presence within the fps landscape it seems. a lot of halo's criticisms boiled down to it being console friendly. while yes that can be considered a real criticism against it. however i feel its most obvious to point fingers at cod 4 for causing the downfall of boomer shooters/traditional fps games as we know it in retrospect.

however i have heard somewhere through the grapevine that even quake fans weren't exactly liking half life 1998 for breaking the boomer shooter tradition.

this post isn't a attack on quake fans or boomer shooter fans in general i am just genuinely fascinated by early internet culture and especially early internet game discussion culture as a zoomer born in 2004 who most likely was not sentient enough to even involve myself in these types of areas of the internet outside of my youtube usage back in 2010/2011. which i am sadly slowly losing my memory of those times as i age..

DAE hate the atmosphere and designs of the bluey movie?

it got leaked and it looks disappointing. it looks ai almost. why can't we have traditional animation on the big screen again for gods sake.

never before seen doom eternal beta content (possibly as early as 2017!)

huge thanks to Daniel Gagne.

there is more he posted on his art platform but here are just a handful of early eternal concepts i think are interesting.

is doom eternal the most controversial fps sequel? its one of those cases where there is both a loud majority who either hate it or love it. i've never seen much of a division for a game sequel. not even halo 2 was this divisive.

i think a lot of the hate stems from how you view doom as. some who were more fond of the gritty and realistic direction doom took with doom 3 and doom 2016 were not a fan of eternal arcadey nature. while others who are classic fans can somewhat respect what eternal was trying to do with it's graphics and tone/atmosphere shift. but a lot of the true division comes within its gameplay. and i think the major problem with it is that the game does a very poor job trying to teach the player its mechanics. just resorting to random pop up text that can be very annoying to get by through.

though i think its worth noting that both sides can somewhat see that eternals story and lore (and dark ages lore too) is all over the place. many say its "not doom" which i can see. however a lot of that nonsense can be look passed when you are able to skip the cutscenes and coming in with the expectation that doom was never known for having a good varied story.

DAE find lost youtube videos scary?

especially ones from the classic era of youtube (2005 - 2012). idk the concept of an amateurish yt video, a remnant of a bygone era, suddenly without notice becoming lost to time. and the scary part being noone has a back up for said yt video.

there are however a handful of other resources ro recover lost yt videos via 3rd party extensions. yet even some highly sought after lost yt videos still couldn't be found and fully recovered despite alternative efforts. remaining the case a cold one. leading to the only shot in the dark last ditch effort of hope being that someone out there has a backup of the video somehow saved within their old device.

DAE notice how similar doom 2016 is compared to half life 1? (not in terms of gameplay)

What i mean is that both doom 2016 and half life share similarities in the way their story and atmosphere is presented. A lot of show don't tell. In both doom 2016 and half life the story is all presented in first person. Never does the camera change into 3rd person to show your character interacting with the environment around them. Very late 90s/early 2000s coded in its presentation. Almost like ID were trying to create a modern day Half Life fps game but rated M and even more visceral thanks to modern day graphics allowing more graphic content than what was possible back in 1998.

Doom 2016 in a lot of ways does feel like it could've released in the year 2000 (tho a lot of moments that involve doom slayer interacting with stuff showing his hands move probably would've been difficult back in the year 2000.)

living in IB all my life and concerns of long term health conditions i may face into adult hood as an already auto immune health ridden mess i am.

I have been living in IB since the moment i was born here. And to know since my 22 years of living that the air quality has always been bad and has been much worse recently really has more concern for my long term health. I am autoimmune but a part of that is due to my father having psoriasis. Environmental factors like IB's sewage could have played a part in this but ill never know for certain. What makes me even more concerned as someone with a weak immune system is the fear of developing even more chronic health issues and potentially neurological issues as well.

I already have stuff like bad sinus pressure on my nose and sinus headaches causing migraines, but said migraines could also be a cause by this terrible atmosphere down in IB. And as of right now, my parents are in fact planning on moving out of state, and so will i. However, the plans won't fully come into fruition till 2028 at the latest. So i am stuck here for another year or two. But even so, i was practically born and raised here so any damage that the toxic sewage that has polluted that atmosphere i may have whether it may be neurological or physical, may be irreversible. Which is a damn shame but there was nothing i could've done about it. It was over from the start for me. I do and have been having for a long time have some slight tremors every now and then. But never have i noticed any damning symptoms of actual body weakness whether it be from my legs or arms.

I just want to know any long time residents living down in IB here can comment on their own health. It doesn't have to be personal. But i just want to get an idea of how bad things really are right now. Thankfully, and this is my only slight saving grace that my health isn't completely screwed over, i have NOT been in my local IB beach ocean in over a decade plus. Because thinks to my parents i have known for a very long time that the water has been and most likely will always be contaminated.

i was born and raised in IB and to see the sewage issue got worse these last 2 years is distressing.

I can not move out at this moment in time as me and my family are struggling financially. so i am pretty much stuck here consuming all the toxic waste that will eventually ruin my health in the long run as if it was ruined already by having autoimmune disease. very very shitty cards i have been dealt with and at this point i just don't even wanna try in life anymore. i have been having headaches tho could be due to sinus reasons but still the polluted air can be a factor. its very tiresome.

it is over.

i hate where i live and i am going to suffer neurological issues forever

idk if this is semi doxxing myself but at this point i don't care because whatever long term exposure of toxic chemicals i have inhaled will most likely do irreversible damage to my health long term. i truly got fucked over with the amount of shit cards i have been handed in life and i am already chroincally ill as is. i can't move out nor have the money. its over for my life.

anyone nervous: relax, ID Software will be fine.

they are owned by zenimax. i highly doubt ID will be affected by these potential mass layoffs. there were rumors almost a year ago that dark ages allegedly "underperformed". we have yet to see those rumors bring some sort of truth in regards to dark ages sales numbers.

i feel the only developer under microsoft that will most likely be affected greatly is obsidian.

to those who have cold war zombies as their favorite cod zombies: why?

i will admit i do like the charm of the old cgi cutscenes it had when treyarch started outsourcing their cutscenes to (at the time) make them look more cinematic and real as opposed to just making cutscenes with in game assets.

at the time when cold war released they looked stunning. but now they look like disney pixar characters lol.

older fps gaming folks out there, was this true back in 2010?

assuming this was sorta true back in the halo and cod scene of fps gaming days i had no idea just how much hate halo got from the PC fps crowd. Obviously this type of hate wasn't wide spread like the star wars prequels hate but it seems like certain corners of the internet didn't take halo and its influence to the fps genre too kindly.

i know that other shooters like cod got hate as i was around during the early to mid 10's when games like cod bo2 were getting hate for being considered a fps game for "normies". didn't help that cod was released every year and sold extremely well. but never have i thought about the original halo being hated on back then..

u/DependentImmediate40 — 24 days ago

the best cod zombies game of all time might be coming to switch holy kino lets fucking GOOOOOO!!!

i just really really really hope its not censored and all its crude humor and problematic media imagery is still intact. either way i never thought this would ever happen if this is true.
