Did Northwest Bagels close?

I walked by and the shop looked closed and curious if its permanent. The place always seemed busy, so I was hoping they would make it.

Anyone interested in a psychedelics discussion group?

I've been fascinated by psychedelics for a while now, mostly from a philosophy, psychology, and culture angle. I know there are probably others in Salem who feel the same, but there's not really a space for it here.

I'm thinking of starting a casual meetup for people who want to talk about psychedelics. Not a place to take anything or find anything. Just a group to share ideas, book recommendations, trip reports, integration thoughts, that kind of thing.

If that sounds like your vibe send me a message. If enough people are interested, I'll set something up.

Why all the hate for 200 hour yoga teacher trainingg?

I read this sub and also follow influencers who rip on 200 hour teacher trainings. But if someone wants to become a yoga teacher, what exact path are they supposed to follow?

Looking for a local Oregon turkey source

I'm starting a small food business and I'm trying to find an Oregon turkey source I can buy from regularly, ideally somewhere in the valley or within reasonable driving distance of Portland. I need it available year round, not just around Thanksgiving.

I already know about Champoeg Farm, so hoping to find some other options. Anyone know of local farms or processors that sell turkey in bulk, including parts like organ meat? Any leads appreciated.

Anyone else doing conscious parenting?

I've been really drawn to conscious parenting (the Dr. Shefali approach, if you've come across her). The whole idea of parenting from connection instead of control, and doing your own inner work so you're not projecting your stuff onto your kids, just really resonates with me.

I'm curious how many of you follow it, or lean toward it? Do you consider yourself a conscious parent? And if so, what's it looked like in your family, especially with little ones? Would love to hear what's worked and what you've learned.

Best gadget/tools for a newborn

I was curious for those who had newborns, was there any tool or gadget (beyond the normal gadgets most people have) that you had that made things easier and that you would recommend to a new mom?

Question About C-Section

My wife and I just had a baby yesterday. She was 41 weeks and 3 days, and after exhausting all other options, she ended up having a C-section. One of the reasons we were hoping to avoid a C-section was because of the exposure to vaginal microbes during birth, which can help establish the baby’s gut microbiome. Our midwife mentioned something about swabbing my wife’s vagina and then swabbing the baby’s mouth afterward. I was curious if anyone has any information or experience with this.

Vitamin K shot, yes or no?

Im currently 39 weeks pregnant and in the process of making my birth plan. I have explicitly put no for all shots, but the vitamin k one is the only one most people are saying is highly recommended.

With all the research Ive done, Im leaning towards not having it done, but wondered what others chose and why.
