How to respectfully tell a roommate their guest is overstaying?

Need advice. My roommate's partner literally lives here now. I get that guests can come by and maybe stay a night sometimes… but weeks? 😵‍💫

I’m honestly tired of constantly seeing and hearing them.

I feel like I'm losing it😭. How are y’all surviving Tech’s harder degree plans without burning out? I made a schedule and everything… but actually sticking to it is a whole different story.

What’s ONE study tip you swear by during finals?

https://preview.redd.it/0gftetgjoi0h1.png?width=872&format=png&auto=webp&s=927f768d1c0ea67ccc3ccca3f4641c7b08f5d6f7

I'll go first

  • Getting off social media so I don’t doom scroll
  • Making sure I actually understand what I’m studying, not just memorizing it
  • Active recall and testing myself (I use NotebookLM around 4–5 times daily)
  • Explaining out loud what I just learned like I’m teaching someone who has no clue about the subject
  • Sleeping right after studying, no social media, no movies, nothing… just sleep
  • Testing myself again in the morning

Looking for work experience while still in school? ACC is hiring Community Assistants right now.

The role gives students hands-on experience in:

  • sales + marketing (giving tours and helping with leasing)
  • customer service (working with residents, parents, vendors, etc.)
  • leadership + communication
  • planning community events and resident engagement

One of the biggest perks is discounted housing if you choose to live onsite at an American Campus property.

It’s designed for students who want real work experience while finishing school, and ACC (American Campus Communities) also has opportunities to stay with the company after graduation.

Applications close TODAY.

Nobody has adulthood figured out and trust me that's okay 🤘

Taking 15 credit hours, trying to eat something that isn't just Raising Cane's, keeping your apartment semi-livable😫, and somehow also trying to have a social life.

That's a lot. Like actually a lot.

So if you stress-ate cereals, or ramen  for dinner last night or your laundry has been "almost done" for a week,  it's fine.

You're figuring it out in real time and that counts.

What's one adulting thing you've actually gotten better at this year? Big or small,

Mine is folding my clothes the same day🤗🎊

  • Pan must be hot before adding the oil; if not, nothing will stick (yes, it sounds backwards, yes it matters)
  • Never touch your searing meat
  • Never walk away from garlic
  • Taste as you cook, not at the end
  • Read the whole recipe before you start (seriously…)
  • Prep everything first; cooking is not the time to be chopping frantically
  • Acid (lemon/vinegar) can fix a “meh” dish instantly
  • You can always add salt, you can’t take it out (except for sauce you can add potatoes)
  • A dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one
  • Pasta water should taste like the sea
  • Clean as you go or suffer later
  • If it smells done, it’s probably almost done

  • Reading notes, then trying to explain the idea from memory
  • Talking through notes out loud like explaining to someone new
  • Doing practice questions after each session
  • Switching between subjects to avoid boredom
  • During breaks: drinking water, walking around, and/or getting a snack (nuts, fruits, dark chocolate…)
  • Studying every day
  • Reviewing material 2–3 times per week

  • Setting a dedicated study place (not your bed or gaming spot)
  • Leaving my phone in another room on DND
  • Setting small, clear goals
  • Breaking study time into 3–5 sessions of 30–45 minutes, with 5–10-minute breaks in between

What's yours?
