School supplies for my daughter

School supplies for my daughter

I'm a low income mom of 3, and struggling right now. I've experienced a lot of loss this year, and I'm burnt out. I was rejected for a transfer of responsibility last month, for my mental health, and so my boss decided I resigned, so I'm temporarily unemployed. I'm in therapy currently to help with all of that.

School snuck up on me. I'm confident I'll get something, but I live in a college town and overestimated how ready that would be.

School starts next Thursday, and I'd love to not get a donation backpack, because my youngest deserves what she asked for this year, and it's my fault she can't have it, so I'm doing my best to fix that.

I made an Amazon Amazon List

I included some snacks and stuff, in case people felt like helping in that way.

I walked out

Edit: thank you for the award, please save your money to take care of yourself.

50 hours in 3 days. I couldn't see straight.

They know I'm mentally disabled, but it's not usually an issue. I know what industry I'm in, and I'll burn myself out before it affects my job. I'm good at what I do. I've been in this industry 20 years. I'm not stupid, just take a little longer to do things. Like minutes not hours.

I work seasonal events for sports. I'm chef in charge of vip area, and I get 5-10 days for an event to prepare for my guests

I was given less than 12 hours notice(6 hours into my shift, so I had 2 hours) for a 4 day festival type event, they had 8 months notice on. Two weeks of asking about guest preferences, and menu direction. I was told to deep clean the 4 kitchens we have on premises. Which I did.

The owner of my center was there on the event days, and every boss below them. It appeared to anyone not there the past few weeks, that the l failed to do my job. My boss refused to help or acknowledge the issue. Sat in the office. I made jokes and stayed in the best mood I could muster.

I walked. 3 days into the event. I dropped a knife and realized I had literally fallen sleep while I was awake? I was scared. My bosses boss talked to me and asked what I needed. I said I didn't know I at least needed to go walk and I walked to my car, and I fell asleep.

I'm still sick. This wasn't even my team, it was a separate event. I love my team, I love my coworkers and I'm very very sad. Management received a letter from me requesting a transfer, but they told me to wait, they are still teething to see what happened this weekend. Today they said I'm terminated. I'm so sad. I was working as much as I could, but I have a child, and had to go home at some points.

Corporations don't care. My boss only mentioned for years or was going to be to get events done, not any apologies or understanding.

I never would have left, but this was so embarrassing. There's no raises or promotion in my company, I was the top of my location, as hired. I still loved my job.

I maybe just want to hear times you guys had to take care of yourselves, and how you avoided the bad references. It's like losing a relationship, I really put my heart into my work.

Safeway air pump broken

I don't know if this is common knowledge, but I gave myself a flat trying to fill up my tire at the Drake /Taft Safeway.

The gas station attendant told me he knew it was broken, but it's not their air pump. So I just don't want anyone else limping home with a bigger problem because they can't put a sign up, because they don't own it, I guess.

Help with labor law

I need help for someone who has mental disabilities and has been restricted from accessing their last paycheck. Attempts at communicating with the company have resulted in "we can't control that, e don't know how it works". It appears that this was retaliation and this person is being forced to wait a 2 week pay cycle. They ended their employment on Wednesday and payday was Friday. According to Colorado law their check was due the day they were terminated (or that following Friday) correct?

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just trying to help and I'm incredibly ignorant to the laws.

So, I'm just a girl, but...

This is *really* bad, right?? I have owned three Subari, I have never been towed, but this *felt* wrong. I should ask before I need to know, because Google was basically like "they're crazy". Is there any way this wouldn't mess things up if it's the only available option?

Chef with no professional halal experience

Hello friends!

I do production cooking, and we have a single Halal meal as of today. I don't choose the food, but I do prepare it.

If it looks like I'm taking it too seriously, it's because others in my kitchen do not take these things seriously enough. I'm also on the spectrum, so while I'm an atheist myself, I have incredibly rigid moral and ethical self imposed rules that accept nothing less.

I washed my hands and arms, and I always wear nitrile gloves. I used a cutting board intended for chicken, that I know hasn't been used in about a year for even chicken. The knives were sharpened, replaced and cleaned this week, and no pork has crossed the knife to my knowledge, as most pork is ready to heat. I was in a separate area of the kitchen that is inconvenient for meat in general, which is also my usual prep space, sanitized with no recent pork or alcohol on the surface/in the area. I took pictures of it being stored separate, and wrapped separate. On parchment doubled over, not even touching the sheet pan. We don't make bacon in the smallest ones. Heavily labeled. I took pictures if they wish to ask to see.

Am I being too much? Is this not enough? Google isn't terribly helpful anymore with the AI answers.

"clarity is kindness"

I was talking on the phone with a Medicaid representative recently and I was apologizing, because I've called with the same question like 5 times. I cannot wrap my head around why, with autism and another neurological disorder, plus being the only working adult in a family of five... I'm the only one they kicked off of Medicaid.

So I'm apologizing again, I asked him to please explain in a little bit more detail.. and he said "I'm happy to. Clarity is kindness...." I stopped him and I clarified that he was, in fact, a wonderful ally.

Being treated like crap for so long, being low income, and undiagnosed until recently has really been harmful, but this shift felt so good. I know it's small, but people are actively working to make life easier on us, and it felt really nice.

Kaelynn, if you're out there, thank you.

Overland and prospect homeless man?

Edit: Thank you friends and neighbors. I just wanted to make sure the vibe was accurate. I'm glad we collectively care for Avery. I have enough information, and I appreciate you all. I should have perhaps mentioned Autism was my motivation behind requesting a group assessment, but I appreciate everyone who gave their kind input.

So we have a neighborhood guy who wanders. I've been told he isn't homeless, but lives in a group home? We've all seen him I'm sure.

The police have him stopped on Pecan right now, and it appears to be a check up on him. Before I jump on any causes, I wanted to make sure our wandering neighbor is an ok dude to feel this way about. I've thought to buy him a pack of cigarettes, or to stop and ask how he is.. but I've not lived here long. Do we know our wandering neighbors name, or story?

It's normal to feel like you don't know what's going on. It's normal to feel like you don't "get it" without assistance, even on the salon floor. I was told once that it's like nursing school (a common student crossover) where school is meant to introduce you to the industry so you aren't a danger in the salon. You will get your true education when you graduate, and work with stylists. Do not get a booth, you need to learn from your industry peers. You can do this. Do not give up. Every school has drama, and we all share a similar experience. 💜

Edit: Thank you, kind stranger, for the award!

My lil snek came with this on their tail. 7 month old Amelanistic corn snake. It hasn't changed in the month I've had them. I've seen one complete shed, but I'm now unsure that I checked the tippy tip. Other than making sure the sheds are complete, is there anything I should do?

I found these in a river a few decades ago. Southern Illinois, Garden Of The Gods. They were deemed "cool rocks", nobody bought my imaginative stories. I really think this is a whistle, although there's no way I could imagine how it would have been made. It's very, very loud.

Second I found this stone triangle, that has this orange red substance in it, like an eyeshadow tin. It easily could be used as paint. I hope it's not anything toxic in there 😅

What say you?

I found these decades ago, in a river, camping with friends in Southern Illinois. Garden of the gods. I will make a video of the rock being used as a whistle.
