I met Leah Pouw today.

I met Leah Pouw about half an hour ago while she was canvassing the Wildwood area. I actually caught her at Tonty and Hiawatha and had a lovely 15-minute conversation with her. Leah was incredibly down-to-earth and seems like a hardworking, dedicated person.

We spoke about a few things, but what really stood out to me was her commitment to putting a traffic break at Tonty and Caldwell for safer forest access. She told me she would bridge the gap between state and local representation to get a traffic break (crosswalks with flashing lights/walk button) if a traffic light isn't feasible. This would be the first issue she would resolve.

She also wants to update the tech being used for traffic control, as the northern part of the ward has constant light outages. In other parts of the ward, the tech is outdated and needs to be upgraded to suit the population (new crosswalks, lights, etc.)

When we broached the conversation about the rising number of Flock cameras, she was very receptive. She is concerned about how Flock potentially uses the data it collects.

I asked her about small business development on Milwaukee outside the 6 Corner portion of the ward and what she has in mind. Her response was (not a direct quote, as this was a more informal meeting): having multiple insurance companies and businesses that do not involve foot traffic is one thing, but she intends to actually coordinate potential small business owners to bring restaurants and shops to the ward that are not solely at Milwaukee/Irving Park/Cicero.

As we looked at the botched resurfacing job Jim Gardner bragged about online, she said she has every intention of doing real work on our infrastructure to solve the ongoing flooding issue and genuinely repair streets, instead of slapping a Band-Aid on it.

I signed her petition to get her on the ballot and intend to canvass with her next weekend, mostly because she doesn't come off as a politician, more as a concerned citizen with the background to make change. I am not trying to electioneer here; I mentioned in my Jimmy G. gripe post that I was meeting with her, and some people wanted to know how it went.

Recs for truly dystopian, borderline horrifying books?

I Loved 1984, Fahrenheit 451, and Parable the Sower/Talents. I recently finished The Road, which I loved, but that was more the fallout after a world wide catastrophe. I am currently approaching the end of Tender is the Flesh, and I’m not sure how I feel about this authors writing but I do like the concept.

Jim Gardner is lost.

I called to speak to him about the rising number of Flock cameras in his ward. This man pretended to have no idea what I was talking about. I asked him what would deem them necessary at all and he told me that he just listened to the police superintendents message about them being helpful. I also asked him about putting a crosswalk across Caldwell at Tonty and he said that’s an IDOT problem. Sir what are you even here for? What does he even do? The repaving on Hiawatha just paved over uneven road. Which means it’ll be busted after this winter and he had the gall to post on Facebook about the “accomplishment”. Dude is an absolute embarrassment.

Best wound care thing I own.

Idk what stage I have but I get very painful bumps under my breasts in my groin area and in my armpits. Not all of them come to a head. As a compulsive picker I sometimes make them verrrry angry and oozey. Not only does this bandage keep the very wide open wounds covered from germs( I’m very paranoid about infection because I will excoriate the bumps), but it keeps any bodily fluids from getting in my clothes, certainly helps them heal better and stops me from picking. They also adhere soooo well. If I wanted to, I could definitely leave one on for longer than 24 hours. I don’t though due to the aforementioned infection paranoia.

Maybe this will help one of you too!

Reading Pet Semetary for the first time and felt soooo satisfied when the Gunslinger was referenced in chapter 19.

I knew it was coming, just not when or how. Felt like I was in a little cult club when it made me pause my reading and laugh a little.

Need a lawyer on the northwest side to help establish a Will?

I am not the type of person to have a lawyer on retainer and need one that people recommend to help me get my family’s affairs in order. Thoughts?

Skyrizi has been my “monkey’s paw”. And I’m genuinely suffering.

My skin was absolutely out of control bad. I had 80 percent coverage and was more miserable than I have words to describe. But my joint pain was relatively under control. This is while I was taking Enbrel. Fast forward to now. 6 weeks on skyrizi and my skin is almost clear! It’s jaw dropping, the progress I’m seeing on my skin is something I couldn’t have imagined in my wildest dreams.

Here is the caveat,

My arthritis is now worse than ever before. I can barely hold a cup or my phone. I am literally hobbling around with all of my major joints visibly swollen. I am borderline immobile.

Doctor said to wait til my 3rd dose to see if my joints improve. But Jesus Christ I can barely make it to the bathroom without almost pissing myself due to the immobility and pain.

But at least I have clear skin!

Sorry for the rant. Anyone else experience something like this with skyrizi?

How to fill the Tower shaped hole in my heart after my first journey?

Feeling mighty empty (in the best constant reader kind of way) and looking to see what I should start next. I’m on a mission to read all of Kings works and was considering The Talisman next.

Where can I buy soul eater posters and stickers on the north side?

I’m trying to build a graduation gift basket this weekend for my niece who loves this anime. I don’t know where to go for something like this other than China town and I don’t have time to do that this weekend.

Jabba the fluff.

What I find so funny about this is he isn’t overweight at all. The pose and angle are so deceiving.
