Summer Streets Chaos UES August 1, 2026

We did our first summer streets by bike super early getting onto the course at 7 AM and we started Union Sq went south to the Brooklyn Bridge at the end and then circled back thinking that we would go all the way up north to the end and come back down

After 79th St it went to complete and utter chaos and hell

We even pulled over to ask the cops who said they know nothing -polite but no idea-and then we notified three course officials and we asked if they had radios and all of them said no, and we informed them that it’s really really dangerous because we were informed to stay on the left side of Park Avenue even though everything heading north on Park was in the right side coming from all the way downtown and then we all of a sudden had a race coming at us with people on feet running and then southbound cyclist coming head on, and it was an absolute nightmare

Did anyone else have this issue?

Other than a few cocky runners that were not nice at all despite them running 5 to 10 people wide- i’ll give credit to one group that did self correct-it was pretty well organized south of 79th St. with signs that said cyclists keep left and pedestrians keep right despite two cops standing as wide as they possibly could in the middle of Union Square by Mount Sinai

I don’t know if I would do this again to be honest and if I could recommend it to people because this was absolute chaos past 79th St.

We only went up to 88th St. and then turned around because we simply didn’t feel safe

And what was odd is that runners were yelling at us that course officials told them to stay left which makes no sense

AnyWho, I’m native New Yorker and not a tourist but this was so dangerous with no rhyme or reason with people coming straight at you on a bike with both cyclist coming southbound as you’re trying to go north and runners in some random race

Post Bike Fit

Finally got a bike fit, and thus far I’m really happy with the upgrades I’ve done to the bike over the years

I’ve had a 2021 Trek Domane SL5 since November 2021

I added Ritchey 42 cm handlebars and a shorter more upright stem when I got the bike initially bc I was coming from an injury and at the time it was the right move for me

As I’ve evolved, I just added a Pro Stealth 143 saddle and a 40 cm Zipp XLPR handlebar after my bike fit.

The wheels are 38 Elite Wheels ENT 3.0s in 38s. I liked the 50s for looks but the crosswinds can be tough by me on the water so I went for function over looks.

Tires are 32 Continental GP 5000s All Roads and just riding those alone before I got the wheels made a huge difference in pickup and speed.

My pedals are Favero Pro MX single sided power meters and I LOVE them. Set it and forget it and 160 hours of battery is unparalleled

I’ve never had issues with the isospeed in my gen 3 and I actually like having the front and the bike.

I was pumped to see the new 2027 Gen 5s but I really do love my down tube storage and purple flip color way still 🙂

❔DJI Editing and Storage

Almost full on my sd card and internal storage. I have done all my editing from the device to phone thus far

I know the file isn’t a normal video file bc of the 360 ability to pan. If I take the footage off the device how does one edit?

Can I put it back on the device like a hard drive ? Or just do everything on the computer or iPad?

TIA 🤙

Coach DeMar-No Thoughts

🙋🏻‍♀️What’s everyone’s thoughts on Coach?

I’m out here watching the Valkyries game tonight and we lost BIG. I’m happy to see Chen really shine and flourish as a fan of women’s basketball, but tonight was not our night.

We’re LITERALLY watching Coach Natalie Nakase running up and down the court, calling plays, CLEARLY invested in her team

Coach is sitting down. Standing up. Sitting down AGAIN. No reactions. Is this a tennis match? 🎾

I’ve been saying this for WEEKS, but I miss the hell out of Coach Sandy 🇦🇺

👎I’m team DeMar-NO at this point.

NYC needs LIFE, passion, SOMETHING.
🎶”more energy, more passion”🎶

It’s like watching wet paint dry and throwing a limp noodle on the wall

We have a very dynamic roster we just need the right energy to lock in for us 👏

🎉NEW 2027 Trek Domane!

They announced new aluminum Trek Domane’s today for local Bike shop owners. Nothing on the SL’s yet or carbon frames but AMEN

AL5 went to Shimano 105 12 gear cassette 👏 That’s looking out for the customer and brava to trickle down to the consumer

Big Ellie Sub?

Honest to G-d question here. Was anyone at the game tonight?

On Wednesday, Big Ellie was BACK. Energy felt right etc.

Tonight, she was shaking hands and waving a towel around like someone from a square state in the middle. It was so odd

Even her head stand during the Big Ellie Stomp was off

Credit: sweeping after the game was hilarious 😆 #knicksin4

But, seriously, something’s been off this season

Rapha Sale

Does anyone know if there’s a mid year Rapha sale?

In December there was a 40% off everything in the store for RCC members. I can’t in good conscience drop 350 bones on a pair of bib shorts, but could justify $210 for the amount of riding I’ve been doing lately

TIA 🤙🚲

▲ 5 r/Hue+1 crossposts

I’m purchasing this off of Facebook marketplace and it’s 108 inches wide and custom millwork aka solid. Underneath is a solid run aka no interruption every 30 inches for the 3 bottom cabinet boxes

I have existing Philips hue lights in my home and was thinking of installing a toe kick light underneath with a light strip

Can this be done?

Any recommendations for install? Length? Accessories? Brands for the cover? Techniques?

Thank you so much in advance 🤙
