Thoughts on this vintage Sailor Moon Rolling Backpack?

I am a male Sailor Moon fan and a few months ago I purchased a vintage Sailor Moon Rolling Backpack dated from 2001 in like new condition. When I purchased this I had no idea how small this was since the size wasn't in the listing and it looked normal sized in the pictures (When I got it I discovered it's only a little over a foot high and was clearly meant for kindergarten students! 🤦) so it's definitely not something I can use as a Regular backpack for carrying a lot more stuff, but I've basically just used it as a mini backpack in place of the messenger bags I usually use so it's worked out for me so far!

I was curious what other moonies thoughts on here were of seeing a 20 something guy using one of these in public? Also not sure if it matters or not, but the one I purchased is dark blue (couldn't find a picture of the blue one I have online just the pink one) They had three colors available of this exact backpack pictured from the seller I purchased it from (Blue, Purple and Pink) and I decided to go with blue not only because it's one of my favorite colors, but since I felt that color was more gender neutral, too. although to be clear I still feel there is absolutely nothing wrong with a guy using a pink backpack! I just went with my favorite of the 3 available colors 😊

Fifteen Million Merits is timeless and the true first episode of Black Mirror

I think National Anthem was a terrible first episode because not only is it the weakest episode in Season One, but I feel it does a terrible job of giving the viewer a feel or idea of what this series is like or really about.

Fifteen Million Merits is the first true episode of black mirror because not only is it a great episode, but it does an excellent job of establishing what this series is like and about.

I'm actually shocked this episode was from 2011 and is 15 years old! It truly feels timeless and the only thing I think dates it in anyway is the American Idol type talent TV show which is no longer a "star maker" or as prominent compared to other outlets now like social media platforms where you create and upload your own content rather than auditioning on a TV show.

After finally watching Black Mirror I can say that I feel it's the only modern anthology series that is great or even comes close to matching the quality of the original Twilight Zone.

I'm a huge fan of the original Twilight Zone and despite that show ending decades before I was born I feel it is still a timeless show that still holds up even today. This year I watched the Jordan Peele 2019 TZ reboot and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I could not believe how terrible the episodes were with how poorly written and heavy handed they were and it was even more unacceptable to me because unlike other anthology shows Twilight Zone is pretty open with the types of stories you can tell. There's fantasy, science fiction, romance, Western, even realistic morality type stories ect! And yet the remake was a complete dud while Black Mirror which is much more limited and restricted to just technology based stories somehow managed to surpass the 2019 TZ reboot and I'd even go as far as to say Black Mirror is the only anthology show that can compete with the original Twilight Zone.

As a newbie to Black Mirror I'm just really impressed to finally find a series that matches the original Twilight Zone in terms of high quality thought provoking episodes. I read Charlie Brooker was a huge TZ fan and considered it a big influence on BM so I feel he'd be happy to see fans like me compare his series favorably to the original TZ. Anyone else feel the same way about Black Mirror and Twilight Zone?

How did Black Mirror become so popular despite having only a few episodes and large gaps between seasons?

I recently started watching BM and thought what I saw so far was very good, but I looked it up and was surprised to discover the series started in 2011! I watched the first Season assuming it was from the late 2010's and had no idea it was that old. The thing that further surprised me is the first two seasons only had 3 episodes each so by the time it's British run ended it only had 6 episodes and stopped in 2013 and yet 3 years later apparently Netflix revived it and that is where the series picked up and received it's higher episode count. Why was there such a large gap between the 2nd and 3rd seasons. Did those first 6 Black Mirror episodes pick up a cult following or something? For those old enough that know I'm just curious how this series became so popular in spite of the low number of episodes and big gap between seasons.

Anyone else hate when customer's ask "how are you today?" when it's obvious they couldn't care less and only want you to answer with "good" or "fine"?

I hate when customers ask "How are you today?" When 99% of the time they don't care at all and would actually get mad if I told the truth and said I was having a bad day instead of the phony "fine" or "good" I am always automatically expected to answer to these people. The ironic thing is those people believe they are nice and caring for asking that, but they really aren't because they don't care at all what the real answer is. You have to answer fine or good to them or else! Seriously I'd rather someone just say hi and good morning/afternoon/evening and just leave it at that! That is still being polite and greeting and acknowledging the other person without asking a personal question that implies you care more than you do. I automatically hate someone that asks me how I am when they clearly couldn't care less about me.

Is there a popular and well liked TZ episode that you just aren't a fan of or can't connect with?

I know Walking Distance is highly regarded and in many people's top ten best TZ episodes list, but for me the episode just didn't work and I just couldn't connect with it or any of the characters. I don't think it was bad by any means, but it isn't one I care for or have any desire to re-watch. To be fair though the fact I had a hard time connecting with it probably has more to do with me personally and I think that may be because I had a very unhappy childhood so I'm not at all nostalgic for the past and wouldn't want to relive it. I care more about the future. I'm also not a big fan of To Serve Man because I feel it is one of the major twist episodes where I can't feel engaged with it on a re-watch whereas another major twist episode like Eye of the Beholder I love because even once you know the twist it is still engaging to me due to how it was filmed and it's message is one that I feel is timeless and relevant.

Does the state send you a separate e-mail letting you know when the new chip card has been mailed to your address?

I recently received a letter in the mail last week saying a new chip card would be mailed out to me sometime in the summer and to activate it immediately when it comes, but I was curious if they send a separate e-mail letting you know when the card was shipped so you know when to expect it? I ask because I'm worried since I have had mail stolen from my house before so I want to be able to track it and know when this new card is mailed so if it is stolen at least I'll know and can cancel it. If someone steals the new card from my house when i'm at work and activates it I'll lose everything on my old card even if it's locked. So much for making things safer :(

I plan on watching all 20 episodes and 2 seasons of the 2019 Jordan Peele Twilight Zone series. Is it worth it or are there much better more recent anthology series that come closer to matching the quality of the original series? Which episodes from it do you think are the best?

I had originally only seen 3 episodes (Not all Men being the worst of the 3) and hate them so much I didn't bother with the rest of the series, but I recently found out that the second season was considered better by those who watched it. I decided I was maybe being too harsh especially considering I never watched the entire first season and should give this series a fair chance so I ordered the complete DVD set for this series and plan on watching all 20 episodes. The set has extras about Rod Serling and the show so that made it worth buying even if I don't like the rest of the series. I'm actually looking forward to it because I've already seen most of the episodes from the 1985 and 2002 TZ reboots and I like the idea of seeing a much more modern and recent version of it.

I think the problem is that the original Twilight Zone is the gold standard of anthology shows (and i'd go as far as say the gold standard of all shows period!). All 3 TZ reboots had huge shoes to fill and faced many obstacles one being that Rod Serling was dead when they were made so there was zero chance of his direct involvement. He was a unique one of a kind creative genius that very few could even dream of matching. Anything bearing the name Twilight Zone will face intense scrutiny especially when being compared to the original.

I think the runtime for each episode for the 2019 series is about an hour which makes it very different from the previous 3 TZ series (not counting Season 4 of the original of course). I actually liked many of the Season 4 hour long episodes of the original series so the longer runtime isn't off putting to me although I'll admit TZ usually worked best as a half hour series.

I've heard recommendations for Black Mirror being more closer to the quality of the original TZ series than the 2019 reboot, but I feel since BM is only focused on stories involving technology that it is much limited and less open than having a series that takes place in a zone where any type of story is possible. I really want to like this show because I feel anything bearing the Twilight Zone name is worth watching. Even if it differs from the original. I'm not one of those people that hates anything trying something new or different from the original so I'm hoping when I get the DVD set in the mail and watch them that there will be some very good hidden gems just like in the original.

What is the best physical media DVD/Blu-Ray release of The Twilight Zone (1959-1964)?

I own this one DVD set of the original series I got for 30 dollars that had the entire series and while the quality was good unfortunately there were some issues with it. Some of the discs freeze and won't play certain episodes and the discs crack very easily when you try to take them out of the holders. I know streaming is more common with people my age but I'm one of those weirdos that likes to own physical copies of shows and movies that are important to me and since TZ is my favorite series I'd like to know if there is a high quality definitive version of the entire series? And if so how much would it cost?

Could another actor playing the lead role in The Incredible World of Horace Ford have made that episode work better?

I recently saw this episode and I have to say I agree with most of the criticism of Pat Hingle's performance. He's very obnoxious and over the top and I don't think the writing is solely to blame for this because I feel a lot of Hingle's choices for how he played this part fall flat. I read that the original story this was based off (written by Reginald Rose) was adapted for a TV show in the 1950's with Art Carney playing Horace Ford (unfortunately no copies of it exist today). It got me thinking how much better this episode would be if Art Carney was playing the lead. Carney had played characters with problems (like an alcoholic in a previous TZ episode) and even won an Academy Award for Harry and Tonto and even though his character in that film could be a jerk (like Horace Ford's character) the way Carney played him still made it work and I never felt dislike for his character in that film the way I did with Horace Ford.

Is there an actor you'd have cast that would have improved the portrayal of Horace Ford in this epir? It's kind of frustrating because Hingle was not a bad actor, but unfortunately his performance here was a complete misfire. he made a lot of poor choices in his portrayal and it really effects my ability to like this episode which isn't even that bad an episode writing wise so the acting is one of the biggest problems for me.

Are there any other younger TZ fans on here like me who love the show despite being born decades after it originally ended?

A lot of the fans I know of this show are much older than me so it got me wondering if there were any other younger fans like me on here who love the show? Most people I know in their 20's I know in real life refuse to watch TZ because of it being a black and white older show so I don't have anyone close to my age who I can discuss it with. I think it's just very hard to get people into older shows who cannot adjust to the older style of films and shows.

I'm going to be honest despite being a very huge classic film fan (I genuinely feel there were a lot of very good older movies that are timeless compared to older shows) I really struggle to find TV shows from the 1950's/1960's engaging to watch other than TZ. I looked into what shows were popular at the time like Petticoat Junction, Peyton Place, Bonanza, Route 66, The Fugitive, Dragnet, Gunsmoke, and Rawhide, but when I tried watching episodes from them I found those shows very dated and unengaging compared to TZ. Maybe it's the anthology format and great writing but for whatever reason I can easily watch and be enthralled with a TZ episode whereas I struggle a lot with other shows from the same period. Another older show I actually liked the episodes of was Playhouse 90 from the few I saw online, but unfortunately the video quality isn't the greatest. For some reason I feel anthologies hold up much better than other shows from that time period (with TZ obviously being the gold standard!)

What are your favorite performances by lesser known actors in TZ episodes?

I know I had a topic about favorite performances last week, but I recently read something that kind of offended me and got me thinking about the lesser known actors that have starred in TZ episodes. I was watching something online with Barry Nelson (who starred in the Season 5 episode Stopover in a Quiet Town) and someone in the comment section mentioned they used to represent him in the 1980's or 1990's and that person said "I always get the has-beens" then someone else replied "has-been? More like a never was!" I found those comments very insulting because I looked into Barry Nelson's career and discovered he was the first actor to play James Bond, Played lead roles in movies opposite Debbie Reynolds, had decent character parts in films like The Shining and had a long stint on Broadway starring in a play called Cactus Flower and of course starred in a TZ episode!

Was he ever as big a star as other TZ alumni like movie stars Robert Redford, Charles Bronson, and Robert Duvall or TV stars Carol Burnett, Ross Martin and Jack Klugman? No, but he was able to make a living as an actor doing what he loved and even being able to make a living as an actor is the equivalent of winning the lottery imo. I really hate this notion that you're only a real successful actor if you become obscenely rich and famous. I thought about this and wanted to highlight the actors who were never big stars but still successful actors because they gave their all in the TZ episodes they starred in. My favorites of the lesser known actors are Joe Mantell from Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room, Lois Nettleton in The Midnight Sun, Joyce Van Patten in Passage on the Lady Ann and John Anderson in The Old Man in the Cave. As an actor myself I have to say any actor that got to star in a TZ episode was a huge success imo and very lucky to be a part of it regardless of having less notoriety than the bigger stars that appeared.

Connect EBT app sent me a link to rate it when I logged in and when I clicked Yes it just opened a link and redirected me to App Store. Was this a legit link or did I get hacked?

I'm asking because I'm worried it popped up within the app itself so I assumed it was going to ask me to rate it within the app and that I was safe instead when I clicked Yes to rate it it opened a link that redirected me to the app store. Is this a legit thing to happen with this app or did I somehow get hacked and have to worry now? Any help would be appreciated i'm so mad at myself because I assumed it would ask me within the app and not open a link to the app store which is the first time I've experienced this.

Thoughts on wearing a bandana during the summer.

I usually wear a bandana during the summer because not only does it prevent sweat from dripping down into my eyes, but my hair gets very flat and frizzy and it actually helps keep it up quite a bit. I actually tie it around my forehead with my hair still visible rather than completely over my head covering my entire hair and the whole top of my head the way some people do so that should give you an idea of how I wear it. I actually don't think it looks bad and personally find it both functional and stylish, but was curious to read other people's thoughts on them.

Questions about the Original Complete 4 Box sets of the VIZ DVD set release now OOP for the 1999 Hunter X Hunter Anime

I had purchased the original complete DVD set of all 4 volumes of the English DVD VIZ release for the 1999 HXH 11 years ago in Like New condition for $200 dollars. I examined them carefully and They were not bootlegs and I am positive they are authentic. I remember thinking it was a lot of money at the time, but it was a complete set and this was before the 2011 version was dubbed into English and I wasn't sure if I'd find another listing with all 4 volumes so I bought it. Last month I was talking my brother about this watching this set again and he made fun of me saying "was that the one you paid $200 dollars for? You know you got ripped off!" I wasn't sure if I did or not so I was curious what the consensus here on this set's value is?

I actually made a post about a month ago asking if I overpaid for them and what they were worth since at $200 I basically paid about 50 dollars for each DVD set. Unfortunately I had to delete it because For some reason I got a bunch of rude replies thinking I was asking because I intended to sell it and wanted to overcharge for it or something!. To be clear I have zero intention of selling this set because 99 HXH is one of my favorite animes and I would not want to part with the only official release of it I have. Also I hate scalpers with a passion and would never take advantage of a rare item like that! Also some fans started giving rude relies saying just Google it don't be lazy not understanding I tried that already and I can't find a single listing of all of these sets.

If there are any other fans that have input or own this set as well can give me their thoughts on this I'd appreciate. Please be respectful that is all I ask. thank you.

In His Image is such a great episode that deserves more acclaim.

I'm a huge fan of this episode, but rarely see it discussed or on anyone's top episodes list even when people bring up Season 4 they usually mention On Thursday We Leave For Home or The New Exhibit and I might be the only one on here who has this in their top 5. Charles Beaumont's script is excellent and I'm so glad this episode was in Season 4 because I feel the one hour runtime really was needed for an episode like this. This episode would not have worked in the 30 minute format. I'll try not to reveal too much so as not to spoil it for newbies but I have to point out I love how deep this episode is and that there is so much going on here dealing with stuff that is still very relevant today like what it means to be human and how insecurity can really prevent us from truly living life and being who we want to be. George Grizzard and Gail Kobe are both great and I actually love that this episode raises so many questions about what it means to be human and what makes up our identity. It really left a deep impression on me.

Does anyone here feel sadness or anger at how selfish and uncaring most customers are?

I had a really bad day at work. Some guy purchased several food items and argued with me at register saying his order being 28 dollars was too high and that I must have overcharged him. I didn't but he was insistent about it and several people were in line and started getting upset at me because he wouldn't leave. When the guy finally left after 10 minutes saying he was going to get his order fixed by at customer service by a cashier that "wasn't a retart". The next person in line started cursing at me about the wait and slamming her stuff and complaining to her friend on the phone that I was the worst and "these stores will just hire anybody". She was wearing a shirt that said " choose kindness" (You can't make this up!) The next customer also complained because I looked sad, but the ones after that just gave me the silent treatment. Not One Person in line defended me or stood up for me when I was being verbally abused. Not one person cared enough to be kind and understanding of the fact that the line being held up was not My fault. I was their punching bag and they were more than willing to throw those punches at me.

I use this example because I literally cried when I got home and just feel so much overwhelming hatred and disgust toward people. They have no heart, no patience, not one drop of kindness to give to anyone else that isn't a friend or family member. It sadness me as well as angers me that people are like this and this is not a minority of them! These selfish indifferent people that only care about themselves and their needs are in the majority. No wonder we have so many fucking problems in society. People can't do something as simple as show kindness and patience toward each other! That is what hurts. Being reminded that people can't even do something as simple as not take their anger out on somebody else. They are cowards too because if they felt they would get arrested or banned for mistreating they wouldn't do it, but since they know the store doesn't care and that they can get away with it they do it. Cowards as well as hypocrites. I'm so sick of these people.

Best performances you've seen in Twilight Zone episodes?

It doesn't even necessarily have to be a high quality top ten episode itself, but which episodes had the best acting performances where the performances were emotionally truthful and it engaging to actually stay with you even if the episode had a weak script or ending? For me two very good episodes that have great performances are Lois Nettleton in The Midnight Sun and Gladys Cooper in Nothing in the Dark. An example of an average to poor episode like Uncle Simon still had a very memorable performance by Constance Ford.
