The weirdest campground neighbors I’ve encountered 😂

Not the worst camping experience, but definitely weirdest 😂
We went to Jellystone with the kids, 3D2N. On the 2nd day, another family from Massachusetts arrived beside us. I smiled and said hi to the mom… nothing. Just a straight face. Their kids were watching my kids play, so my kids invited them to join. As soon as their mom saw it, she immediately called them back. I heard her say, “Don’t play with them.” 😭Like… girl, relax. My kids just want to play.
On our last day, while we were packing up, her husband and kids had already left, but she stayed on their site the whole time, sitting there with her phone and looking toward us. I tried saying hi again… still nothing. Like damn girl, I’m not here to steal your tent.
Then another mom and her teenage son arrived at the site behind us. We shared a power post with 5 outlets. 3 big ones 2 regular outdoor outlets ours plugged and the other was being used for Wi-Fi. She asked where she could plug in. I told her she could unplug the Wi-Fi since nobody was using it yet. She said no because her kid wanted to use the Wi-Fi. I’m like… you literally just arrived. Set up your tent first. We’re leaving in 45 minutes anyway. She looked kinda pissed, like she expected us to unplug ours for her. While packing, I watched her struggle with a tiny 2-person tent, no footprint laid, Googling how to set it up while telling her son, “Don’t touch it!” That night, it rained hard. I was like… damn, I hope that tent survived.

Removed some emojis. Didn’t realize the emojis were going to be the most controversial part of the post lol.

Safest way to clean old oil mixed with dirt and grime buildup from the engine bay?

I recently replaced my leaky valve cover gasket and want to clean the engine bay. There’s old oil mixed with dirt and grime buildup everywhere. What’s the safest way to clean it without damaging electronics, sensors etc? Any good degreaser strong enough to remove the oil without using a pressure washer? Looking for something I can spray, brush, and rinse/wipe off.

Picked this up on Marketplace for $35 USD.

Everything is there folds properly, no missing clips, no broken parts, and it’s in great shape.

How would you rate this Marketplace find? Was it a steal

2014 GT hesitation on acceleration + oil around 1 spark plug.

Hey all!

My 2014GT feels a bit weak when accelerating from a stop. Sometimes it takes 2-3 of sec to pick up, or I have to press the pedal again before it gets back to normal power. So far I’ve already cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body, replaced the spark plugs, did a fresh coolant change, and changed the oil about 3 months ago.

Yesterday I rechecked the spark plugs yesterday and noticed there’s oil around one of them. Looking inside, I can see what looks like a small oil leak near the spark plug area.

No check engine light. What I should check next?

Anyone have experience using the Koolatron 12V cooler?

Found a Koolatron 12V cooler on Marketplace. Anyone here have experience using one? Does it actually keep food and drinks cold enough for camping and road trips, or is it not worth it?

Hoping for a little luck here!

Hi everyone, 😅

I’m looking for a missing Stanley quencher with transparent lid that may have fallen somewhere along Garth St. between Bendamere St. and Sanatorium Rd. Monday morning.

I was carrying a bunch of stuff this Monday morning and apparently decided my car roof was the perfect place to store my cup 🤦‍♂️. I drove off, heard something drop, but didn’t realize what happened until I got to work.

Garbage collection same day , but the truck hasn’t passed yet, so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t picked up by them. My wife checked the area, but it was already gone.. It was a gift, so I’d really appreciate it if whoever found it. TIA

What 3-row SUV has reasonable insurance rates?

We’re looking to finance a bigger vehicle for our growing family, Honda and Toyota seem like the obvious choices because of their reliability, but the prices and insurance costs are getting high. Currently looking at the Honda Pilot/Odyssey and Toyota Highlander/Sienna, but wondering what other options we should consider.

For those who own a midsize 3-row SUV, what year/model do you have and how much are you paying for insurance? We’re looking for something reliable, family-friendly, and reasonable to own long term. We’re open to buying used, but ideally 2023 or newer.

Well... Kia made quite the first impression 😂

My family and I went to test drive a 2023 Kia Telluride SX with 56,000 km today.

We transferred all kids' car seats over and headed out. A few minutes into the drive, I rolled the driver's window down... and then realized none of the power windows were working. I pulled into a parking lot, restarted the SUV a few times, checked the switches, but nothing. Then it got even better and it wouldn't shift out of Park. We were stranded there for over 10 minutes trying everything we could. I ended up using the manual shift lock release just to get it back to the dealership. The salesperson didn't seem surprised. He just calmly said the vehicle probably hadn't gone through their service inspection yet 🤣

I know every brand can have a bad vehicle, but that's one heck of a first impression. 😂 I guess Kia just crossed itself off our shortlist.

Camping again! First time at Jellystone Niagara Falls - what should we expect?

Hey everyone,

After our camping trip at Pinery last long weekend, the kids had so much fun they already wanted to go again. 😄 So we ended up booking a tent site at Jellystone Park in Niagara Falls since it looks like there's a lot more for the kids to do.

For those who've been there, what should we expect? Any tips or things we should know before going? We'll be tent camping, so any advice is appreciated.

Also, this is our first time booking a 30-amp electric site. What exactly does that include? Does it have a regular household outlet that we can plug our extension cord into, or do we need to bring a 30A adapter?

Thanks!

Pinery Trip – How Was Your Experience?

Hey! I remember seeing a post about they are going to to Pinery. How did it go? We're heading there this long weekend (ughhh... I know 😅) and our campsite is in the Riverside campground. What should we expect?

How crowded does it actually get? Do you need to get to the beach early to grab a decent spot? Are the trails and comfort stations usually packed too? Bug, ticks and mosquitoes?

Any tips or things especially long weekends would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Happy Camping!

Any Prime Day deals actually worth buying?

Trying not to buy stuff just because it's on sale. What Prime Day deals have you found that are actually worth buying and would genuinely recommend? 👀

Mosquitos and bugs in Pinery

We're scheduled to camp at Pinery Provincial Park this July with little kids. How bad are the mosquitoes, bugs, and ticks during that time of year?

For parents who have camped there recently with young children, how did you manage the bugs? Did you use a screened shelter, bug tent, or just lots of repellent? Any tips or things you wish you had brought would be appreciated!

Do we need Air mattress??

Follow-up question from my previous post.

We'll be in an 8-person dome tent with our kids (1 to 6 yrs old) For those who camp with young kids, do you use air mattresses or just sleeping pads?

We're trying to decide if air mattresses are worth bringing or if they're more trouble than they're worth. What works best for your family?

First camping trip with kids (4 days / 3 nights) Need tips!

Doing our first camping trip with the kids this mis June in Pinery, 4 days / 3 nights, and our youngest is only 1yr old. Just looking for any tips from parents that already survived this 😂 Things to bring, stuff you forgot on your first trip, sleeping setup, food ideas, keeping kids busy, etc. Also kinda worried about bugs/ticks/mosquitoes. What actually works for kids without making them miserable outside? Thanks!!!!!

Best compact collapsible wagon that actually folds flat or rectangular doesn’t take up trunk space.

Camping season is here! Looking for a recommendation for a collapsible wagon that I can also use for groceries, park trips, kids stuff, Costco runs, etc.
Most wagons I see still fold into a pretty bulky shape because of the wheels. I’m looking for something more compact that I can realistically leave in the car full-time, but still with strong wheels that can handle regular use. If anyone actually uses one long-term, what do you recommend?

Pressed wheel bearing job - level of difficulty.

Just replaced both pressed front wheel bearings on my car for the first time using a loaner bearing puller kit. First side took me around 3 hrs, then the second side the next day only took about 2 hrs after learning a lot from the first one. Bearing race removal was the hardest part 😅 had to use a grinder, but the second side went way smoother once I knew what to do. Honestly, not as bad as I expected. I was ready for the worst. Followed the right steps, torque specs, lubrication, and took my time. Had my celebratory beer after 🍺

From a mechanic perspective, what difficulty level would you consider this job for a DIYer?

Hey everyone,

I’m planning to replace the front wheel bearing on my Mazda5 this weekend and I’m currently gathering all the tools I’ll need to make the job as smooth as possible.

So far I’ve already decided on the bearing (going with Koyo), and I’ll be renting a bearing press/puller kit from Canadian Tire/PartSource.

Before I start, I just wanted to ask people who’ve done this job before:

  1. For the inner bearing race getting stuck on the hub? If so, what worked best for removing it? Will Bearing separator / bearing splitter work, or just use grinder to cut it?
  2. Any general tips to make the press-in process easier or avoid damaging the new bearing?
  3. Also any issues with the axle getting stuck in the hub or any tricks for freeing it up?
  4. Do i need Axle puller?
  5. Any general tips to make the press-in part go smoother?

Any specific tools you recommend having on hand that I might miss?

Thanks in advance!
