Sometimes out of tea

Yesterday went for dinner and both sweet and unsweet were empty. Just curious how the staff monitors the tea levels. Just have to remember to check it occasionally?

Also wondering if the staff would have appreciated if I told them? Would there probably have already been more freshly brewed tea behind the counter available? If not, how long would it take them to brew another batch?

I do appreciate that Culver's has brewed unsweet tea. I don't typically drink soda and premade tea is gross. It's a reason that I select Culver's over other fast food restaurants. Thanks

Whirlpool frig ice auger not working

Have a Whirlpool WRS588FIH side by side frig. Curious if anyone has a schematic or service manual for the ice dispenser or can help me troubleshoot.

The frig has never dispensed ice since we bought it new. It's my fault for not pushing to get it repaired or replaced. Anyway, now I'm trying to get it working.

When I depress the ice dispense pad, I can see a motorized flap open to let ice drop from the bin, but the auger doesn't turn. I pulled the motor and was expecting to see 120V AC on the 2 terminals in the wiring connector. I see nothing (~80mV AC). Am I correct that I should see 120V AC on the motor wiring harness as the flap opens, to turn on the auger motor? The motor has a plastic case, so assuming one of the 2 wires is my neutral, and I don't need to find a ground reference somewhere else?

Also I have the ice maker turned off via the rocker switch. But assuming I should still be able to put ice in the bin, and it will dispense it?

Also curious how it dispenses crushed vs whole ice cubes. If those 2 wires just power the auger motor on and off, what is determining if the ice gets crushed or not? I saw where some ice makers have a bypass flap so the cubes drop around the auger blades. Just don't see how this one accomplishes it.

Thanks for any insights or help.

Recording feedback

Sitting here listening to bands like Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. at work and realized some of my favorite recorded guitar tracks are when you can hear the guitar trying to feed back through the amp, and the guitarist is controlling it as part of their sound.

Just curious how people typically record this with amp modelers. Are they are running a 2nd line from the modeler to an amp and speaker in the room, so they can create the feedback?

Then are they mic'ing that speaker cabinet to capture the feedback, or is recording it via the DI to the audio interface good enough?

Or is there still an advantage to using and miking a real amp to create and capture this type of guitar sound?

Covering up hot tub electrical supply

I just demolished our hot tub because the realtor said to get rid of it before we put our house on the market. Just curious the recommended way to cover up and protect the electrical conduit and seal tight buried in our concrete pool deck. I was thinking of building some kind a wooden box. I'm selling the house so not replacing it with a new hot tub. Thanks

Was your mom petrified of you being cold?

54M and remember as a kid growing up in the Chicago area that my mom was constantly worried about us being cold. In the fall she would switch our beds to heavy flannel sheets and wool blankets. Then I'd be itchy and sweaty all night for the next 5 months. "But at least we weren't cold."

If we went outside, I had to wear 3 layers of socks (1 wool) and clothes. I'd be dying of sweat and couldn't move. "But at least we weren't cold."

Our linen closet was packed full of extra blankets that no one ever used. "Just in case."

Just curious if this was a generational concern or just my mom being paranoid. As a parent, I really never worried about it that much when my kids were little. And I personally prefer to be a little cool vs too hot.

Question on wrist band lights

Took my daughter to see him in Chicago tonight (June 19). Never heard of him-- my daughter is a fan. But just wanted to give his team credit for a pretty impressive stage setup. It was visually entertaining, even if I didn't know the songs.

Specially curious about the wrist band lights that they remotely controlled. I was surprised that they were able to do specific patterns like spirals. Just curious if anyone is familiar with the technology? Guessing maybe the wristband devices each contain a GPS locator, and the wireless broadcast signal contains location-specific commands?

Doordash is the scapegoat?

Just grabbed a to go order with 5 entrees. Got home and discovered 1 was missing. Called Chili's and the manager said they personally packed the order themselves. And confidently explained that means all 5 entrees were definitely in the bags when they left the restaurant. So the driver must have stolen it and follow up with them.

I'm the driver. So frustrating.

Is clapping for joy universal?

Just curious if clapping to express happiness or gratitude is universal across all cultures? I'm assuming it's a learned behavior, but it seems so pervasive.

JCM DSL 50 vs 100 popularity

Was thinking about selling my JCM 2000 DSL 50 head that I bought new back in the late 90s (I think?). Seems like on Reverb there are way more 100s for sale compared to 50s, which I found interesting.

I'm assuming this is just a reflection of Marshall selling many more 100s than 50s over those years? And not people with 50s tending to hold on to them more frequently?

Always with the low growl

Gunnar is our 3rd Anatolian and seems to be the most guardy and vocal. He is often uttering a quiet, guttural growl whenever he apparently hears anything that seems off. Even when he appears to be sleeping. He often doesn't even move or open his eyes-- just lets out this quiet growl until the noise ceases.

He almost reminds me of a grumpy old man-- always complaining about something. My other two were not nearly as growly as this.

Just curious if others have witnessed similar behavior.

I88 and RT 59 intersection

Everytime I drive through this intersection, it strikes me as uniquely convoluted, the way Route 59 winds around as it crosses over I88. I'm sure there is logic behind the layout. Just curious if someone can basically describe why. Maybe I just need to look at it on Google Maps to get the big picture.

Why don't celebrity medical records ever seem to leak?

I would think celebrity medical records (like cosmetic procedures) would occasionally be leaked by an office worker looking for a payout.

But it seems like it never happens. Is it just the threat of legal action? Or are medical offices just that good at protecting their patients' confidential info? Or do famous people not let medical offices keep copies of their records?
