Fallout S2: jfc, the “maybe Hank is right about mind control” scene feels like an argument with the most annoying Devil’s advocate you know
Lucy: Mind control is bad, though. There are other ways to stop conflict without destroying someone’s autonomy and individuality
Hank: What if there were two people from warring tribes trying to kill each other? Can we use it then?
L: Well if we can get them to stop fighting and sit down for peace talks then-
H: What if one of them was from the ‘Super Nazi Murder Rapists’ tribe and the other one was from the ‘Generally Okay Guys Who Want To Stop Nazis From Raping And Murdering People’ tribe?
L: Well once we’ve apprehended them both then-
H: What if the murder rapist was an unkillable giant made of pure muscle, and the other one was a greying geriatric duct-taped to a wheelchair, actively getting his skull smashed in? (but not too quickly so that the mind control will still save him)
L: Well if they’re so difficult to stop then the mind control devices won’t be that useful then-
H: What if they both already had the functional, undamaged devices already installed? And the button to activate it was literally right in front of you, with the Nazi giant so focused on murder that he won’t stop you despite knowing what you’re trying to do?
L: Wait didn’t you nuke a peaceful, advancing civilisation for no reason?
H: *Shaking his head sagely* You wouldn’t understand… I did what I must… There can be no peace until me and my rich friends rule the world… Also you forgot about that for this scene remember?
L: Oh right. Maybe I am the real villain… Hashtag deep thoughts…
