Do you know how much your company is earning from the work you do?

I recently read about ElevenLabs startup, and they said, they expect from their sales people to bring 20x their salary (a person earning $100k/year is expected to bring $2mln for the company) or they are fired. Which personally, sounds like modern-day slavery.

That same article mentioned, that software houses typically generate 5-8 times what they pay their individual employees.

Have you ever encountered those estimates either in private discussions or in articles of reputable source?

---
Btw. this estimate (5-8x) shows market value of the work you do. So if you're doing a freelance/consulting gig, your billable rate should be a multiple of your full-time employment hourly.

Any Tech re-hiring stories after a layoff with salary re-negotiation?

The press just writes general stories of 'AI layoffs didn't work and they are rehiring old employees.'

I wonder when those rehires happen, how many people negotiate salary bumps?

Another example of stealing content (LinkedIn). Original post by Hang Xu.

Some people put the original image into AI to alter it a bit, or just change the visual outlook.

First image is the original.

So tired of people not held accountable for this/not facing repercussions, fines etc.

_______

EDIT:

Unfortunately, the plot thickens, so I will add more information - thanks to people that shared this.

  1. The car seems to be from the show Simpsons. [link in comments]

  2. The concept drawings - a) wheel...; b) skateboard... - are claimed by Henrik Kniberg (blogpost, 2016) where he claims he made those two representations of those concepts years ago (first one being explained as misconception), before the Jeff Patton's book "User Story Mapping," published in 2014).
    [Link to blogpost in comments]

So it doesn't seem to be so black and white.

Still doesn't change that

Eduardo Ordax, Mahammed Orfali, Craig Wetherall, Zulqarnain Haider, Harald Ikonen, Magzhan Nurlybek, Anil Kumar Karumuru, Hemal Monani, Mike Guzowski, Rix Lee, Grayson Julius

stole this content because it went viral from Hang Xu post (who added the 3rd row concept part).

This industry is full of thieves. Stolen content example of Hang Xu's image.

Some people put the original image into AI and changed it.

We need a tool to automatically report copyright infringement to authorities. As it's a vibe-coding era, maybe someone has some free time on their hands?

If you saw this image and can easily find another copyright infringement - feel free to share the link to the post here, the list of thieves will become longer.

Stay away from beehiiv, newsletter landing page randomly breaks

After spending 10+ hours setting things up (getting to know the interface, choosing a sign-up template and customizing it, learning how to use my domain and syncing it).

Then spending 40+ hours in 3 weeks creating content that links to my newsletter...

AND... ?

The landing page changes randomly on its own, after two weeks of me not touching it. It changes into random white background with absurdly scaled fonts. Looks like it was done by a 12 year old that started learning HTML.

I write to the them, they fix it. I don't change anything, I don't touch my website landing page on beehiiv at all... and what? In a week it happens again.

Imagine putting all that time to be that f**ed by a amateurish, incompetent company.

Stay away.

At what point did you start reading "agency owner" as "looking to exploit people with lowest rates possible"?

In what types of situations you experienced it first hand?

What did you want to say to freelance/contract clients but didn't?

Examples:

- Client: "I will leave a great review"

I don't pay in the grocery store with reviews.

- Client: "It's a simple job"

If it's so simple, do it yourself.

- Client: "Looking for someone that works quickly"

Seems like you don't have a budget for someone that works well.

What are yours "I would comment on those slave wages or tone-deaf 'negotiation tactics' but it would sound rude" ?
