Anyone know why JID agreed to ghost feature on this song? 😭

I don't hate mgk or (current) Trippie Redd as much as most people do, but collabing with both of them on a 'sadboy' album just wouldn't seem to work for JID and sounds like it would end up awful — and listening to the song, yup, painfully boring and JID didn't feel like he belonged there as expected. Does he have some sort of good bond with either Tripp or mgk and agreed to help em out? Honestly feels like a fever dream at the fact he agreed on this lmao, would be even funnier if he was the one to come up with being a ghost feature.

[TOMT] Some rap song from I THINK a Disney movie or show

And no, it's not Let It Shine, this part of a song from something I know I used to watch when I was a little kid (but dont know what or where it comes from) has been stuck in my head for weeks straight and I'm genuinely unable to find anything. It might not even be from a Disney show but for whatever reason I keep thinking of it possibly coming from Zeke and Luther but I went through every song from that show possible on YouTube, and nope, haven't found anything. All I can remember, and what part is genuinely stuck in my head is the lyrics

"Billy freeze mode, I'm stuck on flight or fight. something something Demigod, I'm a light"

Another thing I remember, but could be getting wrong, is that it took place at some sort of rap battle or at least a diss song to someone in whatever this came from, but again, it isn't Let It Shine or Zeke and Luther which is where my mind thought it could be from I mean it might not even be a disney show or movie in general my mind is just remembering i heard this all the time rewatching something when I was a kid

Can I be punk if I listen to rock music?

From what it seems.. punk seems like it's based on independence, music would be listening to someone; punks don't do that.. but I could be wrong

Tell me your favorite mgk song

It's always fun when artist subreddits do these and I haven't seen one for the mgk subreddit (my favorite artist always) and wanted to be the one to rate :)

Can be anything including old mixtape songs, I've heard everything from mgk more than a hundred times (factually, according to my lastfm) so go for whatever!

Punk albums with trap beats and/or hip-hop influence?

I'm looking for albums that are still rooted in punk rock or pop-punk but mix in trap production, 808s, rap flows, or other hip-hop influences. I'm not looking for straight rap albums with guitars; I mean actual punk/pop-punk records that experiment with modern hip-hop sounds.

Examples of the kind of thing I'm talking about are artists who blend distorted guitars with trap drums, or songs that switch between singing and rapping while still feeling like punk.

Any recommendations? Underground and lesser-known artists are welcome too.

What's your thoughts on Mainstream Sellout really?

This album is a really mixed bag here when it comes to the mgk community, some people love MS, others hate it and a lot of people view this as the worst album mgk's ever released. A good amount people, including myself, have this as their favorite mgk album too, so it's pretty dependent on the mgk fan you ask ask about it.

For me, as I said above, this is my favorite album mgk's released so far, I give his discography so many relistens all the time as he's my favorite artist and nothing tops this album for me but TTMD is close (and this is coming from someone who always listens to rap so if you knew me it'd be surprising for it to not be Hotel Diablo etc.)

This is also my favorite album ever, I can listen to it on loop for ages and never get sick of it honestly but I will accept it and say factually I don't think this would be in the discussion of a top 3 mgk album.

I think this is a really great sequel to TTMD, it doesn't fit the exact vibe from that and leans more on punk here than pop but that's what makes it really special for me, and the blend of rock, rap to acoustic jammed into the tracklist here is just a perfect blend; he knew where to put the songs and what could fit this albums vibe and aesthetic and I love it.

That being said, I can recognize some obvious cons and why people would dislike it; focusing on the album lyrically you can say this album is pretty "whiny" and such but I don't really mind it, I mean he is trying to fit the angry punk aesthetic he wants for this album and he nailed it imo and his voice is perfect for it. Though I do think if I put myself in a factual perspective his best would for sure be TTMD or HD.

How do you feel about it? Do you like it, do you hate it, is it your favorite, is this a high ranking in mgk's album or low ranking? I wanna hear, feel free to drop your favorite track(s) in the comments too :)

Long time Pop Punk fans, how did you really feel about that 2020 "punk revival" era?

I'm aware that these types of posts asking about artists from this era are always asked every now and then, and for that all apologies if this is another repetitive slop post, give me a downvote if ya want. I'm just curious about how y'all feel about this era as a whole instead of opinions seperate artists each and I'm always seeing different answers and thoughts from each person to answer this.

Did you like any of the newer solo artists during this era? Do you truly think it actually hyped this style of music back up or did the music from this time feel ingenuine for the genre?

Feels weird to think it was 6 years ago when everyone in my high school was talking about mgk and YUNGBLUD's albums being their new favorite album ever at the moment. Damn.

I'm mixed, I think a majority of them felt bland and didn't fit the true feeling of punk, not in a gatekeep way though, there were still pretty cool artists like jxdn who to me didn't have as much cringey lyrics as YUNGBLUD at the time for example but still wasn't the best. Though I don't have any full hate toward anyone from this era.

Looking for rock bands/artists that have a spacey vibe to their music

I'm new to the rock genre and it's already my favorite genre since January or so as someone who's been a diehard rap fan as long as I could remember.

I'm a really huge fan of the songs that have an empty atmosphere to them where the vocals flow really calmly with the production and is a whole vibe.

I'm heavily looking for grunge songs as well.

Song examples I'm looking for

Spacey songs like: Destroy Lonely - if looks could kill

Grungy songs like: Nirvana - Rape Me

(Don't need to listen to the songs though to give a suggestion, my description works perfectly as is.)

Tysm in advance! Recommend an album too if you wanna add onto your suggestion on how I should start listening to whatever artist or band is recommended. :)

With mgk officially having 2 collab projects now.. who else would you like to see mgk have a collab project with?

I know mgk probably isn't in his sadboy roots for now telling by his latest projects but whether he does punk or rap music for this concept of a project, I really wanna see him do more stuff with 24kGoldn, I know 24kGoldn's relevancy cannot compare to how he was in 2020-2022 but I think a project between him and mgk would just be perfect, their styles compliment the hell out of each other without even having a song together other than Climb and I think they could be a practically perfect duo, and if it were to happen.. "holy shit did I just wake up to it still being 2020?"

Fantano review you agree with the most?

It's usually people disagreeing with him on a bunch of reviews or ratings but I'm curious on the opposite, what NeedleDrop review do you COMPLETELY agree with the most? I'm not talking about just the rating but the way he described the album as if he took the exact thoughts you had out of your mouth and put it into his video, whether it's a good, bad or mid album; just one entirely agree with and would've said the exact same if you made your own review

Thoughts on this feature?

To me, this is my personal favorite mgk feature and even one of my favorite songs of all time and I see nobody talk about it at all. The way he slides on such a sweet summer beat like this mixing his General Admission and BINGE style of rapping on a SoundCloud gem is just perfection and way better than the original song in my opinion as he just adds so much more to the song. Being a SoundCloud rap fan for as long as I can remember and a semi-fan of YBN, I don't think I could've ever seen this coming at all lmao, I guess Nahmir grew up an mgk fan or something — notheless I'm not complaining. Such a banger and summer song.

Which Nett song gives you the most goosebumps

Pretty much everyone is bound to getting hella goosebumps from a crazy beat or song in general from Nett and I'm curious which Nett song gives you the most goosebumps since he has such a wide collection of hits and insane beats.

For me I'd have to say lil bieber, the way the bass goes during the hi-hats or whatever it is is just insane, the "may the bridges I burn light the way" just adds so much more to how amazing the sound of the song is and undeniably I could probably cry to this song lmao

IIL comedy movies that go through a journey for something like Superbad, 21 Jump Street, 30 Minutes or Less and Ted WEWIL

You can pretty much tell the type of movies I like based off the ones named in the title lol, I'm just looking for movies that are based on comedy for the most thing that involves the group of characters or 1 character going through a whole journey throughout the movie just to get something done (like Superbad involving the group for alcohol and 30 Minutes Or Less trying to rob a bank in less than 30 minutes doing everything they can) what else would I like?

[TOMT][WEBSITE] Website that showcases inputted words with characters in the background

(Explained better in my comment)

Im not sure how to explain this but theres this one website where you could make several pages of words, like on page one ill put "X" and it'll generate a character (Specifically I remember a construction worker one) around a massive text of what you said, he could be doing anything (pretty zure you can't pick which animation and it randomly picked off the word) like hammering a plank or using a pc with the large text in the middle and an ai voice saying it. This site used to be used for memes on discord and tiktok where they'd put dumb stuff as the words instead of (what I think the site is used for) promotions. The characters look like they were made with clay but high quality

BINGE is underappreciated!!

Whenever I see discussions on people's least favorite project by mgk, it's always this or genre : sadboy and honestly I feel like people clown on this too hard— maybe I'm on the wrong side of the community but this project is really good in my opinion

Now is it top tier? No, he has miles ahead better projects but I don't have anything against this EP at all and I feel like a majority of the hate comes from it being made during the Eminem beef so people would've expected mgk to put his best effort on a project so Eminem fans could be impressed and become a mgk fan or whatever

But I can say with confidence I'm pretty certain this project isn't meant to be taken as a serious project— keep in mind this is an EP and not a full album despite it being listed as one on streaming platforms so it's not gonna be all serious as a full album would be which continuing on what I was starting with, is that I think this EP is just meant be straight party bangers; a majority of the songs have the chorus throughout the entire song more than verses like LATELY for example, just like Wild Boy where the entire song was literally "YEAH BITCH, YEAH BITCH, CALL ME STEVE-O" and people loved and found mgk through that song so he probably thought with the success of Wild Boy he could make an EP with party bangers like that that people would love; mgk is a great lyricist and I feel like he could've made a serious project if he wanted but it feels he chose an EP with party songs to get more songs he thought fans would love that are just harmless fun.

Anyways this isn't really a debate post; just sharing my thoughts, you can comment your own opinions too! Do really love seeing mgk fans talking about one of his most underrated projects, this entire EP has been looped for rhe past few weeks

To be real though I do wish he dropped this a little later because dropping it during the Eminem beef just made non-mgk fans clown on him harder, but Kells does what he wants and I'm all for that
