App photo access

“When you grant an app full access to your photo library, they can view them all and even upload it to their servers”

Okay great so the photos of me as a baby in the bath tub on my moms phone are essentially in the hands of a social media company. Because that’s a totally normal thing to do. Or sex tapes of you and your significant other.

“Well you granted them access so it’s your fault you made the ultimate decision”

Majority of people think “grant full access” means read only. Meaning the app isn’t uploading them more so the app has the ability to make a selection when you go to make a post. Teenagers have iPhones and elderly people. You think it’s their responsibility to do a whole investigation or take a computer science course to realize granting an app permission entails all this? I feel like these companies need to be held liable this is deceptive practices. Wording matters. Every time you grant an app access to photo library there needs to be a pop up saying exactly what that particular app is doing. Absolutely insane

If you give an app access to full photo library, does that mean they can technically read them, but not actually upload it to their servers without you actually uploading them? Please explain this

Can Meta access photos I have sitting in my camera roll that I don’t specifically upload to their platform and if I later deny access or delete the account do they still retain it or is the access only while the permission is actively granted?

Overtime

Who do some stores in my district give coordinators the ability to work overtime if needed? But mine doesn’t? Do store managers get raises at the end of the year based off how much they save the company in payroll? Is this a store manager decision or DM decision? Why is it they don’t allow overtime even if the said overtime isn’t as much as they’re saving when someone calls out? For example, multiple people call out and we’re desperate for help, but if the only person willing to stay or come in will reach overtime, they don’t allow it, even though the money the company pays the person in overtime is still significantly under what they’re saving by multiple people calling out? You guys understand what I’m asking? Doesn’t make sense

Biggest regret - foot surgery

I’m only 25 years old and 4 months ago got bilateral foot surgery consisting of tailor bunions, 4 hammer toes were straightened with a screw, and the other two toes they cut out the joint and reattached the bone to allow it to remain straight but not as stiff as with a screw. They also cut the tendon under my pinky toes to prevent them from curling and used permanent stitches to keep my pinky toes outwards not curl inward. Biggest mistake of my life

I’m so beyond upset. The scarring is so bad and my toes look f’ed up. One toe in particular healed crooked and it looks so fat. My foot surgeon said I’ll need a revision in a year on that one particular toe. Okay so I’m out another 5K in surgery fees AGAIN? I have new insurance too so it’s not like my insurance can cover his botched surgery, this is a new f’ing insurance. I’m so beyond upset and I’m going to see him soon. I am in so much pain. I went to him because two toes were mallet toes that were fused - no amount of physical therapy or shoes could fix it. He ended up suggesting all this other crap which I agreed to because I’m in my twenties not very knowledgeable.

Also he did things he didn’t even mention. I never knew he was using permanent stitches inside my tendons to keep my pinky toes straight. He came in prior to surgery with me like half awake due to the meds they had given me starts drawing on my feet all the stuff he was gonna do. What surgeon does this?? You’re supposed to try other means first before surgery. He never told me that. He immediately jumped to surgery. I’m considering seeing another surgeon to have him take a look. If the surgeon says the previous surgeon did a bad job I’m seeking legal help. I feel so defeated I’m going into a depression

Oh and I also have permanent numbness in half my big toe despite him never even touching my big toe

Is this allowed within TJX policy?

I am a full time coordinator at a TJX store and I’ve been here for 3 years now. Another coordinator position is going to be empty for a while due to the employees medical condition. I was approached to switch to that one because it’s a more “important” coordinator position and they are unable to fill it due to no one wanting to apply for it. My question is if I do not want to do it, are they able to force me to completely abandon my position and do that even if I do not want to? I want to know if TJX policy allows this, as I was hired under the pretenses I would be doing my current position

Question for those who’s seizures are well controlled except for short, occasional auras (focal aware seizures)

Does anyone in here take epilepsy medication and has pretty well controlled epilepsy meaning they no longer experience tonic clonic seizures or impaired awareness seizures, and no longer loses consciousness but still get occasional auras (focal awareness seizures) that only last a few seconds and never progress? Does experiencing that make you want your meds to be increased or changed until you never experience them or are you content as long as you aren’t losing consciousness? What does your neurologist think? Is it common for meds to control focal aware seizures from progressing to bigger seizures but hard/impossible to stop the auras/focals entirely? Is it worth chasing every med possible just because you get a 1-2 second aura once a month?

Did Covid cause my epilepsy?

Im currently 25 and had a new onset tonic clonic aged 22 in 2022. A few months after having COVID I would randomly taste metal in my mouth for a few minutes and sometimes would smell chicken being cooked randomly. At the time I assumed it was effects from COVID, which has been documented and could very well be true. I’m kind of on the fence because I haven’t experienced this ever since, so maybe it was Covid related only not epilepsy. Because not only would I experience those things randomly my sense of smell was messed up. For example I would smell something and it would smell like something else. Like let’s say my mom was cooking chicken I would smell seafood not chicken. And if she was cooking beef it would smell like burning popcorn. Those are just examples not necessarily what actually happened but basically my sense of smell was like all scrambled up.

Then a year after that I started having short episodes 1-2 seconds long of a weird internal feeling that I can’t even describe. That lasted about two weeks and would happen in clusters like once every 5 minutes for maybe 30 minutes. Then I started having what appeared to be like panic attacks for around 2 minutes and I’d be tired afterwards and it would come on randomly. Then I ended up having a tonic clonic seizure out of the blue. I ended up being diagnosed with focal epilepsy most likely temporal lobe. All my MRI’s and EEG’s for the first two years were normal however after expressing concern to my new neurologist a new EEG was ordered which confirmed discharged around frontotemporal lobe. My neurologist suspects temporal lobe epilepsy and I now take keppra. Can Covid cause epilepsy?

Google assist/AI phone calls to stores

Has anyone else noticed a massive influx of phone calls to the store from AI systems where they’re asking if we have a certain product in stock? It’s basically a google AI service where people can type what product they’re looking for and then ask additional questions like “what is the price range?” “Do you recommend any other product?” Etc? My store has gotten like 10 of these calls in the last month. One of my managers said it’s for people hard of hearing which makes sense but we never got these calls until the last month and I doubt all these people are hard of hearing. The call is like an AI voice and it also says “this call is being recorded and stored on our database” something along those lines. Makes me feel very uncomfortable. I don’t want my voice being recorded by google and probably used for their weird AI obsessed machine learning crap. This AI stuff is getting out of control for real. Reminds me when I had a customer wearing those meta glasses come to my register and I was BEING RECORDED. Literally almost refused to ring them out and have my manager come up to do it. Sorry but I don’t wanna be filmed by you. But yeah are these scam calls or legit calls? Are they people hard of hearing or lazy people that don’t wanna call the store themselves? My manager said if we feel uncomfortable put them on hold and have the manager deal with it. We also had a company wide scam call awareness zoom meeting and other stores in the district were reporting the same issue

Anyone else notice most accounts being suspended for no reason are people that mainly used X to view content not really post their own?

My X account that I honestly used for viewing NSFW stuff was suspended and I didn’t even get an email telling me that or why, it was just on my feed that it was suspended. I’ve sent so many appeals and nothing has happened and I haven’t heard anything. It seems a lot of people are getting suspended for no reason but it seems like a lot of the accounts are people who mainly view stuff and see the news etc not people who get followers and actually contribute to X so I wonder if that’s why they’re targeting our accounts?

To chronic TJX shoppers beware!!

TJX has incorporated a new system that can ban returns for you after a certain amount even with a receipt and proof of purchase. Please keep this in mind before you buy a bunch of junk you don’t need. Don’t get me wrong I think they should notify you when they first ban you instead of waiting until you actually initiate the return but it looks like you don’t find out until you’re already banned

I hate chronic returners

I work at a sierra and the amount of chronic returners is insane. People are constantly buying stuff just to return it later on. Sometimes they have a receipt and sometimes they don’t but it’s still annoying. We also have a different computer system than all the other brands so things work slightly differently. At sierra we don’t “ban” customers who make too many returns regardless of receipt, however some customer profiles when you enter their email there will be a pop up on the screen that says “high return rate” but it’s just to let the cashier know, we don’t actually ban the customer or anything. We actually are able to add our own notes to customers profiles lol and I’ve seen some funny ones not gonna lie.

Anyways

We are constantly having to do large returns for customers and as a full time worker I easily recognize frequent shoppers and it’s so obvious to tell a lot of them are resellers. They buy a bunch of stuff from our online store, and then return it in store. Which honestly shouldn’t be allowed because we sell high dollar amount items online that 100% will not sell in an actual store location. People return thousand dollar items from online to in store and then it gets marked down 10 times before it even sells. Also, when you return in store from online we have to re-print all the tags take it all out of the packaging it’s so much time and it’s so frustrating. The annoying thing is any online purchase from sierra comes in a box and comes with a return label for free, so I don’t get why they can’t just mail the return back. I hear that at some point soon we are going to be merging in fully with the other stores so we will have the same system, that’s gonna be a big switch. I’m not sure how we will be able to do that since we have a whole online store that gets most of sierra’s business from. I wonder if the online purchases will be only eligible for return if shipped back.

But honestly I hate resellers they buy a bunch of crap to sell online for a profit and then return whatever doesn’t sell for a gift card and then does the same thing over again. I’m not surprised if this is why TJX is moving to a new system that bans returns EVEN WITH A RECEIPT after too many. Because even proof of purchase isn’t enough when you’re not a profitable customer you’re just returning everything you buy. Also the amount of customers that get mad they can’t return sierra stuff at the other stores… babe we sell kayaks and canoes you can’t return that to a tjmaxx please use your brain thanks.

Does any non sierra employees have any questions about what it’s like at sierra? It’s so different!!!

Suspended account

First of all my account has been suspended for months now and I never even received an email. They won’t tell my why it was suspended. I have submitted multiple appeals and haven’t even gotten a denial or an email back. Also, because my account is suspended, I am unable to even deactivate the account, or make certain changes to the security or privacy of my account. It says “this account is suspended and cannot make these changes” or something along those lines.

First of all, if you wanna suspend my account for no reason, then whatever. Yes I’m mad about it because I didn’t do anything and they won’t tell me why, but the fact that my account is basically in a permanent frozen state that I can never get rid of has to be illegal and is completely unethical. They claim on their website under privacy and terms of service etc, that users have a right to their data, a right to delete their account and data, yet I am quite literally prevented from doing any of those things. I cannot even use the “request your X data” option. So I basically am locked out of my account. What if someone gained access to my account, I can’t even change the password or anything to protect my information. No way this is legal. How can I get my account back or at the very least delete my f’ing account. Absolutely f’ing ridiculous.

Customers

Why are customers obsessed with telling you they “don’t need a bag” after you just spent 2 minutes standing right in front of them filling their bag while they watch you do it?

Is this allowed?

My store runs on like literally no staff and because of that my store manager forces people to go on their lunch like literally 1-2 hours into their 8-9 hour shift. Is this even legal or ethical? Would our DM or HR tell my manager to not do this? The part that doesn’t make sense is a lot of the time there are people able to cover but she wants all lunch breaks done by 5, so we can recover without interruption straight until close. So if I come in at 2 my lunch break is at 4 or 4:15. And then I have to starve the rest of the night until like 10. This also results in me having to take my first 15 1 hour into my shift… She lets one other manager get away with taking his lunch when there’s no other key carrier in the store which I don’t think is even allowed. He comes in at 12 and takes his 45 at like 6 and he’s the only person with keys the rest of us are either regular coordinators or regular associates. Sorry but I’m not eating my dinner at f’in 4 o’clock!!!

Passwords

Does anyone know why some iPhone apps don’t offer to save your username and password in the passwords app so when you log in on another device using iCloud in the future it just automatically fills it in?

Furthermore, when I used Spotify in the past it would automatically save my username and password to the passwords app. But I had to delete the password that was saved and when I logged into Spotify it never gave me the option so unfortunately although I’m logged into Spotify it didn’t save it to my passwords app

Apple Music

Kind of annoying how starting out of no where, every time I start my car and my phone automatically connects via Bluetooth (not CarPlay, standard Bluetooth) something different happens each time

Sometimes Spotify automatically plays

Sometimes nothing automatically plays

Sometimes Apple Music automatically plays (their free radio station as I do not have an Apple Music subscription)

It all started out of nowhere. No new car. No new phone. Disconnecting and reconnecting the device doesn’t help

It also doesn’t even matter what my last music app used was or whether it was cleared or not. What happens each time is different

There’s been times where there’s no music app opened in the background and again sometimes Spotify plays, sometimes Apple Music plays, and sometimes nothing plays

One time I had Spotify in the background opened and Apple Music starts playing

It’s inconsistent, that’s the problem
