How to keep food cold?

Hi all, I take food to work with me in a cool bag usually I am able to keep it cold through thr day with use of a freezer block however when I opened my freezer this morning I found that it had broke. Until am able to get a new one how do you all keep food cold and at a safe temperature when a fridge isn’t available. Part of me is tempted to just put a bunch of reusable ice cubes in the cooler bag and see if that works

Alternatives to tofu and how to make vegan stuff at home

I recently went veggie back in May and while it’s been smooth sailing for most of it I’ve been struggling having something big/bulking to fill the role of what used to be meat I’ve tried tofu and tried cooking it every way I can think but I just can’t and don’t like it, it’s fine for a bit but if it cools too much the texture is gross and the smell makes me super nauseous.

The only thing I’ve found that kind of works is a company called Squeaky Bean that does ready made stuff but it’s super expensive for me to keep buying for everything and no other meat alternative I’ve tried has a texture I can deal with.

I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to make this kind of thing at home like I’ve seen a hundred and one videos on this is how you replace meat with tofu in recipes and want to know if it’s possible to do similar stuff with other plant protein so if anyone had recipes or suggestions on where to look I’d really appreciate it although me and my partner both have tree nut and peanut allergies so can’t have anything with those

What’s the actual difference between split stitch and long and short stitch?

So I usually use split stitch for filling but decided I’d try long and short for a large area of colour and I’m finding that I can’t really tell a distinctive difference between them

Chocolate keeps going bitty/separating help?

I am aware that the middle of summer is an odd time to be making hot chocolate however my partner is ill and craves it plus it’s a really good way to get him to drink honey which helps when ill. One problem and I’ve tried to solve this over winter but never could.

The way I make hot chocolate I add milk and chocolate to a pan and slowly heat it up while stirring to melt the chocolate but I always get bits that float to the top and don’t seem to melt in they leave a weird bitty chocolate slurry almost and I want to figure out what I’m doing wrong and why this is happening. I usually use dark baking chocolate either a bar or chips and skimmed or semi skimmed long life milk.

Any advice on what I’m doing wrong

DMC skin tones?

Looking at doing a piece involving needing to embroider people I use DMC threads so everything is consistent and was wondering what do people find the best colours for a good range or light and dark skin tones

How do I make sure stuff is properly clean after this?

I live in a house with two cats one of them is my brothers this morning I saw her playing with something that looked like a mouse toy or something so I kicked it to see if she’d chase after it yeah that wasn’t a mouse toy it was a dead bird this is the first instance of either cat bringing stuff into the house so no one expected it. I immediately took my socks off and switched them over then sprayed disinfectant on my feet when I had new socks on overkill I know but I couldn’t wash them at the time so.

Either way now I’m wondering is just shoving stuff in the was on a 30-40 Celsius cycle enough or should I get disinfectant or something. The bird was intact but I know wild animals can carry disease and I don’t want that in my underwear (shockingly).
Anyone else been in this position

Debating why I decided to do the background in split/long and short stitch

Currently working on this image of Teto reaching for a star for a fiends birthday the idea is to have white transition to yellow into blue showing like the bright light. The piece on the whole is kind of sentimental since we were both Teto fans before she got her Synth V voicebank.

I’m still kind of new to embroidery so went with split stitch and long and short for the background is there any faster stitches I could use for this or nah

Any advice on how to get better and learn new skills with embroidery?

Have been doing embroidery for a couple years now and I’m decent at it mostly working like almost cell shading, but I want to get better and start doing stuff like needle painting and stump work currently the stitches I mostly use are, split stitch, stem stitch, chain stitch and sometimes back stitch. I want to improve to add more texture and like be able to embroider moss and have cool gradients and colours. But I got no idea where to start other than split a wheel and pick a stitch from thr RSN Stitch Bank

[Discussion] I want to start renting shelf space at shops to sell my art is there anything legal I need to know

I want to start selling my art both in some of my local shops via renting shelf space and also through taking commissions, however I am unsure how to start doing this and if there’s anything in terms of legal things I should know first.

I live in the UK I looked online at th3 guidance for being a sole trader which I guess is what this is and got confused, I’m kind of scared to start because I don’t want to accidentally do something illegal.

What headphones are good with glasses?

I’m currently looking for new overear headphones ideally wired as I’m downgrading most of my tech to me analog meaning I’m going back to an mp3 player from when I was a kid that doesn’t have Bluetooth, this is because my current pair while nothing is wrong with them have started to press the arms of my glasses into my temples when I wear them this is possible to deal with for short periods of time but as I go back to uni in September I will be wearing them a lot on the train, when walking and when studying so I’m looking for recommendations of headphones that are good quality and work well with glasses that are also affordable for a uni student the most I can justify spending is £70 but ideally something between £20-£50 as that’s more in budget. Also open for suggestions on bone conduction headphones I’ve heard they can be good especially if you’re working out and don’t want sweaty ears.

Couple things I want to say before anyone suggest earbuds, I am very sensitive to ear infections and have Eustachian tube dysfunction (meaning I deal with a constant popping and clicking sound from my ear trying and failing to drain fluid) caused by getting an ear infection two years ago from wearing earbuds so uh it’s a hard no on th

How do you all keep threads organised

I’m about to move over my embroidery threads into a big storage case after I clean them (my landlord bug bombed my apartment and I want to ensure there’s no residue on the threads) I currently have them wrapped around cardboard bobbins labels with their thread colour, the storage case is a tiered wooden one so doesn’t have the slight slots and I’m curious what the best way to store them will be as I’m unsure as I can keep consistent labels, but is that necessary?

How do I get soap residue out

Hi all, I recently needed to clean a corse made from linen and cotton, while the label says dry clean only since that isn’t an option for me since there are no dry cleaners in my area I emailed the manufacturer who said wiping it down with a wet sponge and gentle detergent would suffice.

Well I did just that, I thought everything was fine until the corset dried and I saw this white residue, I’ve figured that it was from the soap, I’ve gone over the garment again with a wet cloth and it’s kind of reduced it, is there anyway to wash it out more efficiently.

Any advice on stopping rumination

Hi a few months ago I started therapy for OCD it’s going well and I was improving but then my mum made me (as in I was not allowed to leave the house until it was lit) set off a bug bomb in my room because she thought it had bugs in it I remain that it didn’t because I didn’t have any bites but that is beside the point.

Ive cleaned my room since then because while apparently the pesticide isn’t harmful to humans it’s still like why wouldn’t I there’s residue. Despite this I still feel like things I’ve cleaned are contaminated and am working through it with my therapist and my partner it’s going okay but I keep getting fixated on ‘if I didn’t set of the bug bomb this wouldn’t of happened’ ‘if I didn’t do this I’d be further along in recovery’ ‘if I’d of cleaned my room I wouldn’t of had to set it off and I wouldn’t be scared to read my books’ etc and I keep thinking of what could of been different my partner says I need to think of what I can do now instead of what I did but I find that really hard so I usually distract myself but then when I’m stressed or alone with my thoughts it comes back.

TL;DR how do I stop doing this

Charged extra for something I didn’t do

Last night I got an Uber at 1:01AM from my boyfriends house back to mine the initial trip fare was £5.94 but when i checked today while doing my budget it said I was charged £10.60 and said I made an adjustment to my trip and changed the final drop off location- I did not I didn’t even recognise the address written on the receipt, I’ve requested a refund because wtf but I actually want to know what happened, I didn’t touch my phone or go on the uber app on the way home and my driver dropped me at my house but without any other stops so like how did it come to the conclusion that it was that much, it did give a notification asking if i was safe since my ride ended earlier than expected but I didn’t think much of it and just thought the app was being weird.

Does anyone know what happened so it doesn’t happen again I’m so confused???
