Bridge pickup (gold foil I think) into Logic Pro. Using the Universal Audio Lion plugin, can get a hugggeeee sound from that thing at apartment volume.

Played on my Richie's tele that has some sort of gold foil pickups in it. Using the neck pickup and recorded into Logic Pro with amp sims, compression, and limiters for volume boost.

It’s a variation of a song I made called shiny tunnel. Just noodling on some chords related to that.
The strings are Martin MA540T (Lifespan 2.0, 12-54 gauge, phosphor bronze). I think this is the suggested string for an OM-28, and after trying so many different strings, I’ve full circled back to these and like how they sound/feel.

Just restrung my Martin and snapped a photo of the guitar and strings box! 80/20 flatwounds.
I used these strings for a few months, went back to Phosphor Bronze for a bit, and then full circled back to these. I think they kind of have a warmth and softness that almost sounds like a flattop / archtop / nylon string kind of hybrid. Idk, I like how these sound a lot though for my style (a lot of fingerstyle and chord melody stuff).
They’re definitely not for everyone (they’re flats on an acoustic lol), but I dig it. I don’t really need to project much since I mostly play solo or in a vocal duo sometimes. Also, I can swap back to phosphor bronze when I’m playing more strummy or want that shimmery sound!

I play a lot of fingerstyle chord melody stuff, and I also play acoustic vs electric guitar prob like 60% vs 40%.
Projecting in a bluegrass circle is not something I need, as the gigs I play are usually solo or with a vocalist. I’m usually playing up the fretboard, and while I’ve been fine with 12s, I don’t thinkkkk I’ll even notice the tone difference. But let’s see!
Whatcha think about 11-52 or similar on an OM? Good idea? Bad idea? Thanks!

Hey ya'll, curious to know what you think of some of these strings that are a bit different from regular phosphor bronze and 80/20 bronze options. I'm not a huge fan of the metallic zing that you get from more traditional strings, so trying out new stuff.
Any other strings you'd recommend, and of the ones I listed, any preferences? For what it's worth, I'll be stringing up an OM sized guitar with rosewood back/sides and spruce top. I play fingerstyle most of the time, with some occasional strumming. Thanks!
Edit: Also interested in folks' experience with DR strings? They seem to have some stuff that's different, as well, so may try those out?
What guitars do you think they sound best with in terms of tonewoods? How about strumming vs fingerstyle? What made you choose these instead of phosphor bronze?

I bought this Vox headphone amp a bunch of years ago. Used it here and there, but now have a need for headphone practice a lot more again.
I’m planning to spend more time with it later today to try to dial in some good sounds, but wondering if ya’ll think the tech has evolved enough where I should consider upgrading. Recently watched an Andertons vid where they compare a few other headphone amps.
Anyone have a headphone amp that they’d strongly recommend? Or better yet, anyone use the Vox ones and also tried other ones? Thanks!

I'm curious what folks think about this! Not about which is best, but what you hear in terms of each of these brands' overall sound + what you prefer!
I don't really play too much straight ahead stuff. Mostly chord melody and Latin jazz, and primarily at home or in small duo settings. I often find myself playing on a flat top (Martin acoustic guitar), but I don't see jazz often on this type of guitar.
Thoughts? If it sounds good it is good and stop overthinking it? Thanks.
Based on the Martin website, the neck material is “select hardwood” and the neck color is “dark mahogany”. With that in mind + the 2 photos attached here, is there any way of knowing what select hardwood is on this guitar? Just curious more than anything else. Thanks!

Let's say we're comparing apples to apples: OMs to OMs, dreadnoughts to dreadnoughts, etc.
I'd love to hear how other folks hear rosewood and mahogany and if you prefer one vs the other for certain musical styles.
I started using Ibanez Super 58 pickups and they're amazing. Warm, lush, clear, articulate, and just nice sounding.
I don't know if I'd go as far as saying they're underrated, but it often feels like people talk about replacing them or that they're subpar compared to other humbuckers (especially from Seymour Duncan or Gibson). I can't say I've done a deep dive comparison across a bunch of humbuckers, but I can say that these Super 58s sound great in a number of different contexts.

Hi all, I'm having a hard time finding a good space for this sort of thing -
An evening event (let's say 3 hours) that could feature an "audience" (30-40 people) and a place for 1-2 people to present about a topic. This is not for a professional event, but rather a family/friends event. Ideally, the space would have chairs and an opportunity to serve snacks/drinks.
Is this even a thing? Looking for recs primarily in Manhattan but open to other boroughs. Thanks so much!
