I still remember reading this panel from Exceptional #5 and thinking “if anyone should be talking to Ororo, it’s you, you of all people Yukio” (especially after I learned her history as one of Ororo‘s two soulmates aside from Callisto)
And with Storm set to lead in Maximum X-Men, I figure it’ll be the perfect time for Yost to fix Greg Pak’s foolishness from 12 years ago in that 2014 solo when he made Ororo and Yukio have that nasty breakup.
*jokingly* I mean, wouldn’t it be fitting if the person to restore one of Chris Claremont’s greatest character relationships was also another guy named Chris? 😂
Now I know we all can’t wait for Season 2 to drop, but it’s occurred to me that we’ve all speculated a ton about the new crew and how they’ll interact (along with what kind of brutal Night City demise they could meet) but not yet about what kind of opposition or threats they could face, so I’ll list some possibilities
- The Corps (Arasaka, Militech, Biotechnica, Kang Tao) especially if my suspicions are true and Kingsley’s connection to Avida get the crew involved in corpo intrigues and power plays, then there’s also Avida’s as yet unnamed Kang Tao executive husband, who could be a problem.
- The Blackwall/Rogue AI, especially if all the speculation about D’s netrunning style turns out to be true, particularly the red lightning shown in the trailer when he’s near the flipping car, and I’ve even seen theories that a Rogue AI might be hunting him as a consequence of him playing with the Blackwall, because let’s remember that while he’s undoubtedly good, he’s not the Strongest Netrunner of Today (which is of course Songbird)
- The Gangs (I think mainly Maelstrom, but there could be chances of Valentinos, 6th Street, Tyger Claws, Animals, or hell even the Voodoo Boys depending on when Season 2 is set) But mainly I think Maelstrom, particularly if Talia deserts them to go join D, Roman, and Kingsley, something I think they wouldn’t just allow, especially after what people said happened in that special preview for Episode 1 of Season 2, something like that could be blamed on Talia.
- Possible Cyberpsychos, because there’s always a chance the crew could run into one on a job, in fact I think Kingsley may even purposely take the others to fight one if only to try and show Talia the dangers of chroming up so fast, the same fate that almost claimed his life.
And lastly of course, there’s always MaxTac should we end up losing D or Talia to Cyberpsychosis (I hope to god not)
In regards to the roster, I’d guess Cable will likely leave out of guilt once the arc with him being possessed by that unknown green entity concludes, so I’d add Domino and the “Counter X-Force” that’s set to fight the main team soon.
So it’d be like
- Archangel
- Boom Boom
- Hellverine
- Ms. Marvel
- Domino
- Shatterstar
- Rictor
- Maybe Pug-Smasher? (Who I hear is a Tim created character)
And if Kamala can convince the MLF kids to switch sides, you could even do a two-pronged approach with the adults for the behind the scenes stuff, and Kamala, Resonant, DePop, Speedburn, and Unveil for the public stuff (especially since #6 showed that X-Force is known on social media)
I mean Jed already did it over in Adjectiveless with the hangout/peace meeting between the Alaskan X-Men and the Avengers under Carol, so why not do it with the Louisiana X-Men too?
I think we can all agree this whole thing was one massive W for Emma, so a big thanks to her for doing what had to be done, mutantkind is far better off now.
And doesn’t Idie deserve some peace and happiness after the life she’s lived? and a great guy like Ransom instead of perpetual douchebag Quentin Quire?
That’s two longtime headaches and X-Villains dead, two animals who had this coming for years now, and now they‘re no longer a problem.
So I think we can all agree that AC3 was a great game, but as with anything, there’s room for improvement, so aside from modern graphics and updated game engine, here’s what I think a hypothetical AC3 ”Resynced” could have
- Add more meat to the Assasination and Privateer contracts, like in the Ezio trilogy where you’re told why you’re taking out the target instead of it being a simple seek and kill/destroy like in the original
- Include Black Flag/Rogue style naval combat and freeroaming in the Aquila, something that according to the AC wiki was planned but then cut, so imagine being able to sail around and encounter Continental, French, and British ships, maybe with the Naval Clash and Prisoners of War ship mechanics from Rogue?
- If the original modern day has to be removed, replace it with more missions of Connor meeting and recruiting Assassins and allies, for the wiki shows there were more than just Stephane, Clipper, Duncan, Jamie, Jacob, and Dobby, there were actually additional multiplayer characters and one from AC Rebellion.
- Taking a note from the Ezio trilogy, include Templar Hunts where Connor and his recruits track and eliminate some of the AC3 multiplayer Templar characters.
- Perhaps have Achilles mention Shay and the events of Rogue to Connor?
- After Haytham and Achilles’ deaths, include Connor’s speech from the epilogue of AC Forsaken, and show Connor reading Haytham’s journal and his regret over killing his father.
Post-Game Chapter Ideas (That could show Connor adapting to being the American Mentor and any doubts he may have about such a title or the fame of being the one who destroyed the Colonial Templars and retook America)
Connor goes to France with the Marquis de Lafayette (Lafayette openly invited Connor to come with him to France and see Europe) where Connor could meet the French Brotherhood and possibly even Arno, while seeing firsthand how a European Brotherhood operates and deal with being referred to as the American Mentor and hyped up as the Assassin who retook America and destroyed the Templars there.
The Presidency of George Washington and the creation of the U.S, Constitution, which could see Connor meeting Shay as they wage a war of words and ideas instead of bloodshed, perhaps marking a rare instance of Assassin and Templar attempting to work together to shape a nation, with Connor and say, Thomas Jefferson against Shay and Alexander Hamilton (a noted Templar sympathizer)
This in particular could also be how Connor learns more about Haytham and the events of Rogue from Shay and Shay in turn decides to leave Connor and his Assassins alone for the following reasons:
- Respect for Haytham, his former boss and Connor’s father.
- Seeing that Connor‘s Brotherhood, unlike the one he was with years ago, actually follows the Creed properly.
- Seeing that Connor like himself, knows the danger of the Pieces of Eden (Connor could tell him of the Apple he got from Washington and how he disposed of it in the sea)
- In keeping with the lore, Connor was so effective that Shay would be one of few, if not the last, American Templars, so it’s not like he could do much without a Rite.
