Apparently HTR Day for Night is gonna release on the 17th, so who’s looking forward to heading back to California like old times?

I intend to also post this to the main White Wolf RPG subreddit, but thought I’d start here first.

So since I only know of the World of Darkness from the VTM video games and combing the wiki, having never played the actual TTRPG, I’d like more experienced people to look at this and tell me what you make of the WOD version of my home state.

From what I know already I think the SI could set up out here easy, since in-universe the IAO is headquartered here, the Society of St. Leopold would have a field day here due to the abundance of Catholic Churches on the island of Oahu alone (large recruitment pool and readily available staging areas) and the IRL construction of an FBI office out here in the last decade means an easy way for the SAD to make their way out here too.

Now this was interesting to learn, that in World of Darkness my home city was home to a small Princedom before they were eradicated by the SI, and since then it’s been the headquarters of one of the principle branches of the American section of the Coalition, the one and only Information Awareness Office (IAO)

Although with the presence of an FBI office out here IRL in the recent decade, I could see the SAD having a presence out here too.

To anyone here who’s also from the USA, and outside the States, what interesting things have you learned about the WOD version of your home state or the city where you live? Maybe the Camarilla and Anarchs got a presence there? Perhaps the radicals of the Sabbat are the dominant power? Or have the agents of the Second Inquisition come to burn them out?

For example, it’s been great to see through the wiki that many of our old pals from all those years ago in 2004 are still surviving, and that the Anarchs are more powerful than ever in Cali (shame Isaac was lost to the Beckoning, but his successor as Baron of Hollywood seems cool (and fashionable) and it’s wild to see Therese and Jeanette’s Asylum club went big.

It‘s also been cool to see more competent Princes and powerful Camarilla domains that aren‘t LaCroix and the sad shitheap that was the L.A. Camarilla (Seattle, Boston, NYC, and Canada come to mind, no matter their problems)

Then I learned about the Second Inquisition, and it makes perfect sense as humanity’s response to the supernatural, and its many parts also emphasize that it’s not an organization but more of an idea and movement, since it encompasses everyone from ordinary civilians, local law enforcement, online conspiracy theorists and forums, to even organized criminals, and then of course there’s the cells of Hunters or solo Hunters.

But the power at the top of it all, the Coalition, I found to be pretty damn badass and terrifying, all these deepest black ops groups and special forces units banding together with the Vatican and the Society of Leopold to hunt the supernatural, mainly vampires (interesting to see the Society of Leopold be so damn powerful nowadays) even if my first reaction to them was “Call of Duty/Tom Clancy/ every action, military, and spy movie ever ahhh Hunters”

Aside from the expected horror and revulsion of the 616 group that there’s a universe where they joined with their parents, wonder what’d each version would make of the other?

My guesses:

Molly: would get along very well with her alternate self and certainly would go bananas over her alternate self’s outfit, to the point of begging and pleading for one of her own.

Chase: would love his alt-self’s sharp suit and skill with his parents‘ tech, but hate that Pride Chase is such an immature and obnoxious dudebro

Gert: minor conniption over yet another alt self (remembering that alt timeline version of herself who was an Avenger) but would still like her alt-self’s style, with both Gerts maybe having a snark-off.

Karolina: would get along quite well with her alt-self, swapping fashion choices with Pride Karolina even offering to share some of her expertise and help hone 616 Karolina’s abilities. I also think 616 Karolina would try to help her alt self realize she’s in love with Pride Nico.

Alex: 616 Alex would have even more regrets since he‘d learn his alt self was smarter and didn’t die like a fool, while his alt self would be disappointed 616 Alex never lived up to his full potential.

Nico: She’d love her alt-self’s look but upon seeing that Pride Nico is in many ways everything she’s always wanted (confidence, full potential, superior magic skill) she’d become extremely jealous and insecure and likely end up challenging her alt self to a fight, while Pride Nico would be surprised her alt self is so emotional and disappointed in her mid-tier magical skill, but might possibly be willing to help 616 Nico and train her (Though Pride Nico would undoubtedly push her 616 self hard, knowing that she thrives on adversity and overcoming it.)
