Verity fell off hard.
I thought verity was going to be slop before I watched it, but I think that the first video is genuinely really good. Player acts reasonably, they start setting up verity as a potential irl threat, and it ends with an extremely well set up jumpscare. It was really entertaining, and 'just turn the game off' doesnt apply because during episode one, from thatmobs perspective its just a really scary mod. The voice acting is also just phenomenal, and i mean no ill will towards the creators, there was clearly actual effort and passion put into the series beyond just a simple cash grab.
Second video he "trips", the yandere thing starts, and he gets absolutely terrified by the ball surviving lava (something completely reasonable for a mod to do, unlike it knowing things it shouldn't). Then twixxel just doesnt believe him? People not believing stuff in horror works because of real world common sense. But a minecraft mod having a scary twist is extremely believable, especially for a minecraft horror youtuber. They then proceed to spend an unreasonable amount of time trying to ditch verity so they can talk instead of just leaving the world and chatting in discord. Then twixxel dies in the dumbest way possible, by dying in minecraft wutg added blood. It is never explained how that killed him irl.
The third episode is genuinely awful. Veritys backstory explains absolutely none of his ep1 behavior because the only reason the player was trying to get rid of him was because he tried to execute him. His home just exists in minecraft for no reason. It's never explained why verity was created and customer support just tells him to off himself. With veritys personality in this ep theres zero reason for him to want to hurt thatmob at all because he'd be alone anyway. But the worst part is that verity just isnt a threat. He claims that he'd keep following him but there is zero attenpts to get rid of him using any external means. No deleting the world, no deleting the game, no changing devices. That mob immediately jumps to ending it... in minecraft instead of real life.
Verity really could have been something special but it falls apart very quickly. Thatmob kills himself before he even tries just not playing that world. Veritys origin is random and dumb. Kinitopets lore works because the origin is extremely vague. Verity they tried fleshing it out and stopped halfway. No motive for creation, no explanation of powers or knowledge, the place he was created just exists in minecraft and it seems to bd implied he killed them, but theres just a customer support line with the sole purpose of telling you to die.
I know someones gonna say "like you could do better", but i could. If they wanted the suicide route they could've had that mob desperately try to purge his computer, but verity continues to exist on his desktop. Thatmob does some antivirus stuff, and then the screen is stuck on a virus cleanup and purge for the remaining 5ish minutes, so the irl part is only audio. Knocking that gets louder as thatmob spirals into panic. Sound of a door shattering and one final interaction where verity is an active threat and wont let him go. Three gunshots, then verity gives his speech about how hes inescapable, and during it thatmob is breathing heavily. Veritys monologue is cut off by a gunshot, and then you're left with 15 seconds of pure silence followed by a popup saying that computer is now clean.
