It's impossible to just ban pre teaming, unless they can alter the queue system to prevent it, or ban everything.

Title, I've had inorganic teams (ie using voice and chat to a random grumpy to gang on the incoming royal trampler) where I've been cursed for cheating.

However since teaming is allowed if it's inorganic it's impossible to regulate, where do you draw the line?

The playerbase is so small I've gotten to a point where several times in storm I've seen people on the player list that I know and have played with.

I could contact them and team up, but at what point is it inorganic?

There is no possible way to regulate it, if I ever team up with someone I ever played with and get reported is this then grounds for a ban?

The choices then are obvious:

- Change the queue system, add delays, make it nearly impossible to team, perhaps blacklist certain pairings of players who frequently play together.

- Ban all forms of teaming, organic and inorganic, especially in storm, no exceptions.

Is starting in freelance in IT still a good idea?

Title,

I'm a Data engineer, I've got nearly 7 years of experience with SQL, power BI, data warehousing using kimbal, and have dabbled with cloud migration, azure, data factory and databricks.

I know there is currently still a lot of demand for data Engineers, and I'm considering switching jobs in the coming months.

This of course brings the question, to freelance or not to freelance.

Pro's and con's obviously, but my main concerns are oversaturated market/low rates that come with it and the inevitably AI bubble that can't last. (Which can mean layoffs and the first to go are always consultants/freelancers)

Hence the post, while I don't think Data Engineers are threatened too much by AI (yet), the market seems a bit volatile at the moment.

Are T3 engines always worth it?

Title edit I know it says Engines, but I mean reactor not the small/medium mobility engines

I've seen many players comment on hard to repair compartiments.

Ie the T2 wheelhouse is a pain to repair vs T1 and often T1 is better (T3 much more debatable imo)

Better engines have more health but also different repair spots.

Ie the T2 2x2 engine is hard to repair, I believe it has 2 metal patches, a circuit board and 4-6 pipes but it's not always obvious if the are door pipes or engine pipes.

Meanwhile the T2 3x1 is easy, 4 metal patches, 2 pipes and everything is close to each other.

Does anyone know how this changes for T3?

This has to be one of the most pettiest, most persistant and toxic playerbases I have witnessed in my life.

Putting aside the absurd amount of hackers that we had, and the duping.

When capturing tramplers was still a thing you'd have people camping extract half of the time, which will likely return this week, at least I can see why, since it's lucrative.

But players will follow you endlessly across the map, like you insulted their mother or something, I've had players follow me upwards of 30 minutes.

Players will actively do anything to grief you whenever they can, I've seen players hide loot, spawn camp/torment people whenever possible.
But what takes the cake is what I see on storm dives, people will actively try and prevent others from making it out, after having extracted.

They gain nothing, and are more than happy to throw away their kit, armor/weapons if it even gives them a chance to grief others.

While I love this game, I love the ship combat, the boarding, the playerbase though....there isn't a low this playerbase wouldn't stoop to, and If I combine all the games I've played in my life, I haven't been griefed as much as I have in the past weeks of playing Sand.

Is this a bug, or did someone headshot me while moving with a petros rifle and his name didn't show up?

Been walking for 15 minutes to extract to get the steel alloy out, according to the map, storm isn't near yet.

Didn't see any trampler or player in sight, died on that ladder.

Why do ships sink in less than 5 minutes?

Title,

Had a last fight in storm dive, 10 minutes left on the clock, finish the fight, turn off engine to repair 2 compartments.

Turn on engine, the ship we destroyed has already sunk 3/4 into the sand.

This is outside the problem that a squadmate got a server kick for suspicious activity by just being near it and dying.

Trampler build - Does elevating your trampler 1 level outweigh the downsides?

The upsides are:

  1. When your legs are being targeted, you have far less chance of the initial compartments to also take damage.
  2. Higher elevation means it's easier to shoot the top of their deck.

However, I've noticed that all my builds, using either the middling (T2) or great chassis (T3) will not only severely impact stability, but also walking speed.

I had a decent budget build on a middling chassis, which has 1 layer of armor on all sides except the back, when it's elevated, max speed is set to 90%, without elevation it's 100%.

I'm wondering if this penalty is actually worth it, I'm guessing in combat it likely is, but outside of combat, you can quickly start to feel how slow your trampler is outside of boosting.

It's dawned on me that 3/6 man crews are pretty suboptimal for loot.

Title, basically in a 3 man you'll need to loot 3 POI's to get the same amount as 1 POI in solo voyage.

6 mans are even more brutal.

Hours of playing 3 mans can yield me the same as a 45 minute solo run.

I have a lot more fun with crews, but it's not efficient at all.

How much does maneuverability really matter when building a trampler?

Basically title,

I currently have a ship with 4 cannons, 2 of which can hit the sides and the front, the other 2 are only front facing.

At times even in a 3 man crew I feel I'm missing flexibility of switching guns, I can always add more, but this comes at a cost.

At what point would this flexibility come at a cost?

Ship has a -2% max speed penalty and 23 maneuver.

Well that didn't take long

5th game going solo, found my first set of hackers, and I say set because appearently I was up against a duo despite being in solo queue.

They managed to teleport on my walker, take control without opening any doors, I managed to kill the first guy multiple times, take control back, and they walk inside the locked captain cabin like the door does not exist.

While I managed to kill the one guy a couple of times, the second one I didn't get a single hit for, despite using the 3 shot shotgun, bullets where just not registering, despite shooting at least 2 full clips.

I can chalk this up to the game engine, but the other stuff not possible.

Died, despite it saying the ship is under my control and instantly get a lost to the sands title screen and that was that.

Full hour of game and everything I took with me gone without shooting a single cannon.

Keep in mind, I also desinged the ship so they have to blow up 4 doors before being able to get to the cabin itself, which happened while my trampler was moving, there is no way that this is possible.

Should I just give up on random TG games?

Sometimes you genuinely get people who try and communicate, make a strat, and say what they need.

This is, perhaps 10% of my games, the other 90% are split between:

  • Players playing a 1v1/2v2, and immediately surrendering once they are losing without saying anything
  • Players communicating once their base is gone, blaming their team for not noticing it.
  • Players doing a 4 TC boom while their flank is being all-ined by the opposing team.

I've both lost and won 3v4 situations where a random person not seeing the state of the game resigned, while the other side was crushing it.

I expected this to get better as I got higher rank, but at some point you get matched with 3 random players, against a full premade team on coms, it's fun if you still win those because your team actually talks, but that's rarely the case.

In the past I played TG's with friends, I've never enjoyed 1v1's, not as a kid, not now, but seeing as most of my friends, after thousands of hours have moved on, it's a mixed experience for me, and the skill level disparity is enormous.

1700TG elo feels like a different playing field from 1400 TG elo, and yet these get lumped together frequently.

I'm wondering if I've hit the cap at what I can do queuing solo, when at least half my games are just more frustrating than enjoyable.

What types of milk do you use (Europe)

Basically the title, I've ordered a Creami deluxe which will arrive sometime this weekend.

I'm mainly looking for healthier protein ice cream to replace my protein shakes, as I technically need a +100 gram protein intake daily for my training.

I already have:

- Different kinds of Whey Protein shakes

- Different types of sweeteners

- xantan gum

But I'm missing my base milk, I currently have some Campina semi skimmed milk, but we have completely different offerings here, and I don't know what my options are.

There is one version of protein milk, but it's basically 3x the price, and I haven't tasted it yet.

I believe Alpro is international, which we also have available here.

Is there any reason to keep my Kenwood Chef XL when I have a Ninja TB401 with the food processor?

Basically title.

I need a blender, and found a sweet deal on a Ninja TB401 (blindsense), yes a vitamix is better, but for my use case I don't need to spend x5 the money for a vitamix.

We occasionally use a Kenwood Chef XL, which is basically an alternative to the Kitchenaid Artisan mixer.

We use it to make pizza dough, any kind of cake batter and whipping egg whites, however we use it once every 1-2 months.

Since it's heavy and takes up a lot of space, I'm wondering if I can get by with just using the Ninja TB401, basically is there anything I can do with the Kenwood mixer that I cannot do with the foodprocessor of the Ninja?

Can I replace my kitchen robot with a blender + food processor?

Couple of years ago we got a kitchen robot.

It pretty much does it's job, we've used it to make pancake batter, waffles, pizza dough and cake mixes.

Over time our diet changed, and the robot gets used only a handful of times a year for those same jobs.

I've recently gotten interested in getting a blender, and it may come with a food processor.

I've read that you can knead doughs in it, obviously it has less power and capacity than our kitchen robot, but I'm wondering if I still need our robot for the off times we make something like pizza dough, can I get by with the food processor?

Edit:

For clarification I currently own a kenwood chef XL elite, with 2 mixing bowl, and several attachments for mixing, kneading and whisking ingrediënts.

Wireless probe advice - Typhur

I've been using a simple wired bluetooth probe for a while now.

My issue is that it's a single probe, and bluetooth means my phone needs to be in close proximity at all times.

I've been looking at different wireless wifi thermometers.

I've boiled my choice down to the Typhur, because Thermoworks isn't available here, and I've heard quite a few mixed reviews from Meater.

So I'm debating getting a Typhur Sync Quad, or a sync quad gold.

While I don't need 4 probes most of the time, I often need 3.

I have a small garden, so my base station would probably be around 10m max away from my Egg.

This would include one wall and the egg itself.

I have found good deals for both models, the Sync quad regular going for 145€ and the Sync Quad gold for 220€.

It's a substantial price difference, the gold version has higher heat resistant probes (although 400c vs 500c I never go near that) but it also has sub 1Ghz connection on top of the Bluetooth.

Basically the connection between the base and probes should be much stronger.

I wonder however if this is necessary in my case, I don't want to have connectivity issues, but I also don't want to overspend for a feature I may not ever need.

New trader should take Epic non arc parts

I love the patch, and the trader is a nice addition, however Embark mentioned the intention is to offload stash items.

While the trader does this to some extent, most people aren't going out of their way to kill big arc unless they need the parts.

Our stashes are filled with guns and materials to build loadouts.

Things like magnetic accelerators, exodus modules, as well as the epic/purple items you find in Stella should be considered for the trader.

While it's still going to be good to take out a wandering bastion, or a queen/Matriarch, unless you actively hunt them, you are not getting the new items.

I love PvE and dabble in PvP, but I already see it's going to be quite hard for PvP players to get anything out of the trader.

I'm not saying every item should be able to be bought with guns, but I don't think a bombardier cell is particularly rarer than a Geiger counter.

Perhaps in next week's rotation we'll see those items being requested, which would be fine as well, I just don't think players will be happy to only fill the materials with one specific content part of the game.

I don't think there is a single thing I dislike about the new patch

New content, weapon, attachments, partially reverting some controversial changes.

Good balance changes, Anti cheat update. Embark needed a win, it doesn't solve everything obviously and there are likely going to be some issues and complaints, but compared to the last few patches this feels like a breath of fresh air.

Most of my matches, I see people trying to fix matchmaking

About every game when I load in with +29 minutes left I'll see several flares go off on open maps.

I sometimes see it up close, naked kit, spawn surrender repeat.

Players attempting to get into friendlier lobbies on purpose for likely varying reasons.

While I understand why Embark has added ABMM to the game, it's very easy to exploit the system.

I don't understand why they don't implement anything to improve the current system.

It has become impossible to do any kind of PvE content with duos/trios

A couple of months ago, while we definitely saw more aggression on trios, 80% of my duo lobbies were generally speaking friendly.

This mattered especially for Queen and Matriarch.

At some point I stopped doing those events, as I had queen reactors to spare.

With the last expedition I once more need to do PvE activities which generally speaking require multiple teams to engage the queen/matriarch.

However, no matter how friendly our solo matches are, the second I do duo's all bets are off, it's not even mixed, it's muted, shoot on sight lobbies.

I kind of expect this in Stella, and I enjoy the PvP aspect of the game a lot.

However I have no way to bring friends to a big arc event anymore.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or perhaps my friends have a much more aggressive matchmaking then they claim to have?

So little bit of context, I love coffee as will everyone here, and I've considered roasting shortly, but my wife basically said not a chance I'm buying another appliance for a new hobby.

Slow cooking on a kamado is something I've been doing for a while, and I recently ordered a rotisserie.

I then saw you can add a basket to the rotisserie and to my surprise one of the images was coffee beans.

Basically a Kamado with a rotisserie would be a charcoal oven.

It's very fuel efficient and it can sit between 100-300c either directly above the fire or indirect with a plate setter.

Temperatures are extremely stable, however once you go up, there is no going down.

So if roasts require lowering temperature mid roast that would be harder.

So I'm wondering if it is possible to roast coffee for espresso purposes and get something similar to buying roasted coffee from a local coffee shop?
