It's a shame we never got seasonal outfits for these characters
A story of how I failed to see all rival events in the FoMT remake in the first two seasons
I'm a completionist and perfectionist when it comes to games and I really like rival events, so I wanted to see them all before I romance someone (even though the remake has only 2 for each couple, but that's even more reason to appreciate the ones we have).
Most of them were easy to trigger. For some I had to look up the requirements because this game can be a bit strict with location/time/week day when it comes to triggering events. In my first spring I talked to all of the villagers, including bachelors and bachelorettes and didn't think much about it.
Summer came around, Kai arrived, I saw the second event of Rick & Karen and so the only events left were both rival events of Kai and Popuri.
I started talking to Kai and managed to trigger his introduction event and black heart event. The first sunday in summer was the chicken festival, so I couldn't trigger their rival event. Then on the second sunday in summer I noticed that I have trouble triggering it. I look at the requirements again and realize that both of them need to be at black heart color for it to trigger and since I talked to Popuri she was already on purple.
So I spent OVER A WEEK giving her red grass and even wrapped it, to get her back down to black heart before the last sunday came around. Unfortunately I had to talk to both of them at the firework festival to see the festival cutscene. Shortly before the last sunday I finally managed to get her down to black heart (she lost 3 friendship notes too) and then.. I realize Kai is at purple. From talking to him at the festival. I only had 2 more days to gift him a hated gift (and I don't think the first one counts cause they say "You couldn't have known, it's fine") and unfortunately it was not enough to get him down to black too..
So now I have to wait until summer next year to see their events. Just had to get that out there 💔
Celine's 8 heart event reminded me of this delightful moment in the first Harvest Moon game
Previous anniversaries
I've been a Harvest Moon fan since childhood and have really enjoyed the 30 year anniversary, but the previous anniversaries completely passed me by for some reason. What were they like? Is there a way to view older polls and fan art contests? Did they release games for them?
Just another post praising the dialogue in this game
I love how the villagers actually talk to each other in this game and how the dialogue depends on where you talk to them. I went into the back room of the shop and Nora and Balor were discussing their wares. Saturday evening the vendors are packing up and talk about what a successful day it's been.
When you finish one of the early projects you get paid in turnip seeds, and you can actually talk to the other people who participated to get their share of seeds too, since they have no need for it. All the little details in the dialogue make the villagers feel so alive
Letter got deleted before I could read it
I'm on day 3 of Camp Spirit and received 2 letters. One was the second letter you get from scoutmaster titled "Howdy-Do Troop 342" with a log cabin item attached. I clicked "receive all presents" and it deleted the other letter before I could read it. It had a spooky common decoration attached. Does anyone know or remember what other letter you get on day 3?
Currently rewatching and I noticed Sour Cream foreshadowed the Diamond colors
Did I really misinterpret Daria's story?
From the things Daria said I came to the conclusion that the implication is that she can reincarnate and remember past lives, but I can't find anyone talking about it.
She talks about falling into a raging sea (death?) where monsters devour suffering and pain, doubts, memories and minds and how she managed to escape it by shedding pieces of herself and be plucked up from that sea, surrounded by figures she's not familiar with. She talks about hearing a dripping noise and how there is wreckages on the bottom of that sea filled with past voyages. She mentions diving down to that wreckage when the waters have calmed and how there is familiar voices and faceless shades she recognizes as family.
She then says "One of the shades escapes me. It is proteiform and atonal. Insubstantial. It has a ghastly quality that I cannot easily understand, and it seems to actively resist focus. It takes some convincing for me to accept it for what it is: an echo of a previous self. Remnants undevoured by the depths. Unaware of them, even. A treasure of incommensurable value. I meet it with cautious curiosity."
She describes herself as "A mind bloated with the muddy thoughts of the self and of the other. Useless detritus brought back from the depths." and later at the everdoor talks about how all the pieces of her are behind the everdoor and how echos of echos can only last so long, and how the laws of the ocean have no bearing on her
Am I the only one who interpreted it that way? It would have been a very interesting theme to explore in a game like this, so it just kinda made sense to me, and then noticed that there is no mention of this on the wiki or in reddit discussions
