MediaPipe -> Resolume using python

I've seen plenty of mediapipe examples using Touch Designer, but not many (any?) using Resolume directly, so I asked Claude.ai (not claude code) to help me as I don't know Python at all.

The code wasn't perfect, but I know enough coding in general to polish it a bit and I am delighted and excited by the proof of concept.

Now to come up with some fun ideas...

[YET ANOTHER UPDATE] I seem to have stumbled onto the problem - if I have 1 layer and duplicate it so there are 2 layers, 3 layers or 4 layers my comp will save.  The file size is 138Mb

As soon as I add a 5th layer I get the Saving of Composition was unsuccessful, please check file permissions! error.

Yes, I have plenty of disk space - 675Gb free

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a composition with a couple of hundred columns and 6 layers, some autopilot driven. It started behaving strangely last night where some clips on the top layer didn't display. Simply replacing the clip with the same file fixed it.

This morning when I try to open the comp Arena crashes 100% of the time.

I can recreate the whole thing and will, because now I don't trust it, but I am wondering if anyone might have a clue on what might have caused this and whether a comp that causes crashes can be recovered.

Normally I would contact resolume support directly, but I need this working for the coming weekend.

[UPDATE] Ahh...fortunately I can pull the decks into a new composition and just need to do some final tweaks, whew! But I am still curious about what might have caused this and whether the original can be fixed.

[UPDATE #2] not quite as easy as it seemed. When I import the decks and then try to save I get an error "Saving of Composition was unsuccessful, please check file permissions!" but new empty comp and other comps save.

So something about the deck seems to be causing this.

I have created a shockwave effect I am happy with. As the title asks, how can I trigger it at random times within a range?

Natively would be best, but I do use touchOSC if there is an automated solution down that path.

I spent loads of time trying different solutions trying to get an XBox controller linked to Resolume. They were all fragile or complex or not intuitive. For some reason I had never considered using TouchOSC (which I have) and it turned out to be the easiest solution and most robust of all.

This video was the first full blown tryout and is unedited...this is what came out the very first try at an open deck night...I'm pretty happy with it ;o)

If you are interested in the Resolume composition and the TouchOSC template, DM me.
