Now they have changed the rules, I'm going to request a Club Jetstar refund

Like the title says...and I hope it starts a tsunami of refund requests and also some legal nudge.

I joined on the basis that carry on was included in the price. Unless the "pay to join frequent flyer programme" offers the same benefit, then I deserve a refund.

IANAL but I suspect consumer law might back me up.

Or am I delusional?

FWIW, it isn't about the money, there simply a level to which I will not stoop.

How come one of my gmail tabs has an unread count?

I always have a number of accounts open in tabs. Not sure when it started, but the primary account now has an overlay with the number of unread emails.

It isn't a problem, but I am curious what is going on.

First month with GloBird

We installed a 16kW sigenergy battery last month and just ended our first full month with globird.

Just got an email "your latest bill is ready".

I knew we had hit the zerohero every day and hadn't paid for anything from the grid, so I was very keen to see...

Opened the app: $1.79 !!!   I let out a "how great is this" yell.

Then I noticed

CREDIT $1.79

w00t!

Prior to that we were with Amber...would have had a $25 monthly fee (liable to increase over time) had we not switched.

[UPDATE] I hadn't really looked at the bill, getting a Qld govt rebate of about $30 helped :P

Should I believe the app's AI calculation?

Not sure if it was in the old version and I had never seen out, but found an AI suggestion page telling what a good job it could do.

Is it bullshit?

Got my APC40MkII - use the native mapping or create my own?

Just received my APC40MkII. You would think that Amazon would wrap it in neutral paper rather than ship it in the original box so that when it is left on the doorstep it is a less tempting target...but no.

Avenue comes with a native mapping included. Do people find it is good enough or is it worth the considerable effort to do my own mapping?

One consideration is that if I am ever on someone else's unit, and we both have custom mapping, then confusion is sure to reign.

On the other hand, the native mapping may be ideal.

Opinions are as valuable as facts 😉

Is it possible to have a setting e.g. if battery is over x% at y o'clock, then discharge to grid?

First month with a new sigenergy 16kW battery on old solar array and couldn't be happier, have paid for 0 kWh so far.

Well, I could be happier. We get 3 hours of grid energy for free 1100 - 1400. Generally our battery is around 40% charged in the morning as the sun hits the panels. So why not sell that to the grid?

Is it possible to set to sigenergy app to say "if the battery is over 30% at 0900, discharge until 1100 unless it drops to 10%"

I suspect I could do this with home assistant, but I want to keep the setup relatively simple.

Aussie going to be in Netherlands in September - any 1 day festivals?

G'day all, my Dutch wife and I are going to be in the Netherlands during September. We go to raves and festivals often and are wanting to do something special while there.

We won't have any of our usual camping gear so I suspect a one day event will be best.

What about an amazing club in Amsterdam? Berlin? (Where I am lobbying to visit, just for the club experience 😀)

I've done a bit of research and haven't turned up anything yet. Maybe locals or someone in the know can help - any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Do you implicitly trust or not trust Meta apps "end to end encryption"?

The title says it all really. I'm referring mostly to WhatsApp but also Messenger. Are chats really private?

Adapt or die: the Australian live music lovers trying to reinvent an ‘ancient’ and ‘unviable’ industry

Get out and enjoy some live music or soon there won't be any. Mo's Desert Clubhouse (mentioned in the article) is my local venue...it is also my favourite.

TouchOSC instead of buying an Akai AC 40 Mk2?

I have TouchOSC and before I buy an APC 40 I am wondering if anyone has weighed up the pros and cons of each.

If there isn't a template for TouchOSC I know there is a lot of work creating one. But it is cheaper than the hardware.

But the hardware is likely more robust than TouchOSC.

Your thoughts and experiences?

[Edit] damn I wish the title could be edited...

First crack at using a GoPro in a live set

Years ago I was given a GoPro that was a bit corroded and the little doors wouldn't open. It took a fair bit of gentle work but I eventually freed them all. But not being a sporty type, I rarely use it.

Then I saw some video of an event where the VJ had included a camera. I've played with a web cam, but never took it any further. Last night at an open HDMI event I decided to see what I could do with the GoPro. Delighted with what I created on the fly in Resolume

It's now going to be a permanent fixture...but used sparingly

I had claude write me a python script to move unused media files

I've been using Resolume for about 18 months and it took a while get my own workflow figured out. Until then I was dropping all media into a single directory, whether I used it or not. Obviously it wasn't long before it was a great resource, but a mess.

I wanted to sift out the unused files, but there is no native way to do this.

I'm too old to learn Python. But I am old enough to remember how we thought it was fun (and clever) to go into the new computer shop and run a GOTO loop on the screen in Basic :o)

Thanks Claude for the script. It isn't perfect. In a comp with 128 columns and 200 or so clips, about 10 files shouldn't have been moved, but "relocate" shows them and they can easily be moved back manually.

I hope it is useful for someone. There is room for improvement, go ahead.

I don't understand dropping a mask on top of a clip

Can someone please explain this?

I have a clip, I unintentionally dropped a mask clip on top of it. The original clip appears in the corner. If I drag the mask to another layer the original clip is there, drag it back on top and they sort of combine. "Odd" I think and dig into it, expecting to learn something new.

But there is no masking, the original clip isn't even visible if I drop the mask to 0% opacity. I don't seem to have access to the properties of the original clip, yet it still appears in the thumbnail.

It looks like the mask has no effect on the underlying clip, unlike if it is in a mask layer above.

I feel like I am missing something. Given that Resolume allows me to drop the mask on top of the clip I suspect there should be some sort of interaction, but I can't figure it out.

The strange thing is that I had a whole layer of this and now I can't recreate it. Was it just a glitch?

Can we stop with the ageism posts?

Please

No more "am I too old?" - hah! There is a popup if you ask this, nice work mods.

No more shaming of people who mock us gravers.

Just forget it.

I am 71yo and go to festivals and raves regularly. It's the last time I am going to mention it.

SE Qld (Australia) open HDMI night

Anyone else in or near Brisbane interested in an open HDMI night? It is mostly open decks, but they are letting VJs play as well.

This Friday night at Diffuszed Studio in Wooloongabba - find them on IG. I'll be there.

Bind my battery - yes or no?

TL;Dr for others who see this - the consensus from Redditors is to not bind your battery in the globird app.

=============

Just had a battery installed. Pretty happy with 0kW from the grid for 5 days so far.

In the globird app there is a thingy to bind my sigenergy battery to their system.

Is this a good idea or not, and why?

Dear VJ - you are redundant

https://digitalintrospect.net/products/dipivj

My answer to this is to put on a rave with a live VJ and music from a Spotify playlist. "Just plug your phone into the PA and everyone will dance for hours"

Oh, I just scrolled to the bottom of the site. You can actually book a real person who sells a VJ replacement to VJ for you 🙄
