Looking for a run club to join in tempe. I used to be a good runner (8-9min avg) but i haven’t ran consistently in over 6 months so def running 11-12 min miles right now. Something that meets early in the morning would be ideal (5/6AM) to beat the heat. Any recommendations appreciated!!

Hello! I am looking for social activities to start doing when I go back to Tempe. I’m a PhD student and I feel like I have not been able to create community because my entire social group are my classmates and/or coworkers. I really want this school year to branch out of my current social group because it is exhausting to be around the exact same people and only being able to talk about work related stuff for example. And also the fact that I don’t feel connected to any of them beyond mere peers. Are there any places to find social activities, social groups, hiking groups, etc., physical activity groups in the Tempe area? For example I want to start climbing or bouldering so if there is a good gym that has social events that would also be great too😊

As mentioned in one of the comments below a biking group would be great too!!

And do you recommend these events for a young adult woman to attend by herself? Thank you for the input!

Hi all! I’m looking to start climbing/bouldering when I go back to Arizona in August and it’s something I have never done, but I have been watching Alex Honnold (which I am aware he’s a free climber and that’s not something I would do, but I do find his fortitude quite interesting) for a couple years now and I watch Magnus Midtbo as well as keeping up with Janja Garnbret and it is a form of movement I would like to try. I’m a runner and I have just found it incredibly boring recently and it does not excite me as a form of physical activity. I also prefer to run outside and obviously in the Arizona heat at this time of the year. It’s not really possible for me coming from a much cooler state. I’ve been looking at The Bouldering Project in Tempe and I’m curious what people’s opinions and reviews are as a beginner of this gym who has no experience, climbing, or bouldering in this case. I’m also curious as someone who has very little arm strength or just like muscle in general I’m very leg dominated how to prepare for bouldering if there’s any recommendations for bouldering in terms of prep and what the best shoes would be because this is something that I am planning to commit to as soon as I’m back so I wanna get proper gear, etc. Any tips would be appreciated.☺️

Hello everyone! I’m really wanting to get into sewing and up cycling clothes as someone who struggles to find clothes that fits me how I would like. I’m a petite 5 foot two young woman and sometimes I feel like my pants are too long or my shorts are too high waisted or my shirts length is too long, etc. and shopping for petite clothes is really frustrating because it’s expensive and sometimes it doesn’t even fit how I want. Growing up I was incredibly crafty and I did used to use a sewing machine just here and there and I miss that part of myself that would be very creative and find other hobbies that weren’t being on my phone. I would really like to get into sewing and up cycling and would appreciate guidance on what the best machine would be or what the best way to get into this hobby would be. Thank you so much.☺️😊
