Epi-no to avoid tearing
Has anyone used the epi-no to avoid tearing and was it helpful? Where in the US can I access one? Any other low effort ways to help minimize tearing? TIA

Hi! I’m due in late Nov/early Dec with our first baby, and my husband has a big family milestone overseas in mid-January. His family will be traveling there, and because it’s international, and requires a full day of traveling there and another full day back, they’d be gone for ~10 days. He needs to book flights soon, before they get very pricey so, although it’s tentative, we’re trying to make a decision now re # of days.
He asked me how long I’d want him to be away for but I’m torn because I’ve never experienced postpartum/cared for a newborn before so I really have no idea what will feel manageable vs overwhelming and what my hormones will be like.
Some background
- We’re very fortunate in that we will have a full-time baby nurse during that time
- My parents lives nearby and will be available to help or I can stay with them during that time (but it might be a bit of a chore to uproot everything from my apartment to their house so freshly pp)
- So I won’t be completely alone, but of course it’s still different than having my husband there
- My husband has already said that if I feel it’s too much or if I have any concerns at all, he would hang back without hesitation. So it’s not a question of prioritization, but I’m not the kind of partner to want him to miss being with his whole family for such an important milestone (they don’t come around forever and no one knows how many of those moments we’ll have)
So wanted some guidance for those of you who have been through this
- Would you have been comfortable with your husband being away for ~10 days when your baby was ~8 weeks old?
- If not, how many days would have felt reasonable?
- At what point postpartum did you feel like things became significantly more manageable?
As a FTM, I truly have no idea what to expect, and I’m trying to make the best decision for our little family and this important event for his family!

I am a FTM in my second tri working on a messy rough draft of my baby registry and am completely overwhelmed. Please brutally influence and de-influence me. I want the best of the best when it comes to safety and quality.
A few things to know about my setup:
Please tell me what is necessary and what I am missing from these major duplicates so I can trim this list and perfect it. Thank you so much!
Edit: We’re doing it guys! I have since removed the baby food maker, the bottle warmer, the different sized bottles, the owlet, the pee pads, the Lalo hook on high chair, momcozy breast milk storage bottles, the bathtub filter, tubby Todd newborn gift set, the pattern cotton mat, the tumbling mat, the skip hop.
And since there were a lot of comments regarding this - I am putting the pump through insurance but the registry serves as more of list for myself to remember to get everything I need and to get feedback on the different brands I've researched (hence the many duplicates especially with the carriers which I have yet to decide on!) A good chunk of the list is set to private so only I can see it and I plan on buying as I go but want to be as prepared as possible so I’m not panicking and doing all this research postpartum.
Also, considering Elimination Communication Has anyone here actually done this from the get-go? How did it go for you? Is it worth the effort, or should I just stick to regular diapering at first? Thank you!

Edit: I know this looks like overconsumption at its finest, but I’m actually here to avoid overconsumption. If I were planning on buying everything (or even half of it), I wouldn't be asking Reddit what to cut. This has been one of the few places where I can get candid opinions from parents instead of sponsored content. So reminder to please be kind!

For context, I am currently 4 1/2 months pregnant and would like to get extra steps in because I’m just not getting them in during the summer because it’s way too hot. Every now and then in between meetings I like to do three minutes little running sprints nothing too crazy just calms the ADHD jitters. I live in an apartment so something double folded would be ideal, but I don’t know if that compromises the quality of the pad itself i’ve seen a couple of double folds, but they don’t have the handle and I don’t know how necessary it is but would to have a place to put my phone and watch my Netflix. Would like an incline sometimes. TIA!
