ISO musician for wedding reception!!

My acoustic guitarist just cancelled on me. My wedding is in early September, and I’m scrambling. Any pro-ish talent available? Or any Bluetooth speaker suggestions 😅

Location: Cocoa

Time needed: set up by 10:30am, lunch break, end around 2-2:30?

Date: early Sept.

Exact date, time, and location will be provided privately! Lunch will be provided - gluten free options available.

I only have about $300 budgeted for this as that’s what my previous guitarist told me to pay him. Now that we’re so close to the wedding, that’s all I can really offer right now.

$6.2k in debt / high interest

My interest rate is over 28%. I signed up for a debt assistance non-profit that my credit bureau recommended before I knew about the Baby Steps and Financial Peace University. They negotiated with my credit card company, and I’m now on a payment plan to pay it off at a much lower interest rate. I pay the company $20 a month for this service.

One of the few conditions for signing up for help with this company is that you can’t take on any new debt or open another credit card.

Long story short: I’m very ignorant about financial lingo, and what I thought was a normal payment plan turned out to be CareCredit. Dentists are expensive, I had a concern, and I was already overwhelmed with life. Blah, blah, blah, always read the fine print. I own it. Anyway, that violates my contract with the company. I’m waiting to hear back from them to see if they’re going to fine me or drop me from the program. If that happens, my credit card interest will shoot back up drastically. Because of the agreement, my credit card account will close automatically once I pay it off. The card is done after that.

I haven’t activated the CareCredit card yet, but it’s on its way.

I’m not really sure how to navigate this. Does Financial Peace University cover strategies for tackling high interest debt? I’m very new to all of this. Thank you!

Mass attendance when you’re so overwhelmed

How do you get yourself to mass when your life is so overwhelming? I’m planning a wedding, my health is causing strain on my finances, there’s more stuff the church is asking us to do and pay for, I haven’t got to confession in about a year, the house needs to be cleaned and meals need to be prepped for this week - I’m beat, guys. I want to go to mass. Badly. I’m just so exhausted.

How do you guys do it? Some of you have kids in addition to a host of other responsibilities. I wake up on Sunday exhausted from the week and the day befores chores and tasks.

Large family couch under 2k

ISO super comfy couch that can fit at least 7 people.

Yes, it’s a low budget. But I can always look for the brands/styles recommended on FB Marketplace.

Thanks!

Vent: Pre-Cana classes are expensive & Facebook groups are brutal

Hi. I made a post in a very popular women’s Catholic group on Facebook regarding the $200 fee we received for pre-Cana classes. Considering it’s all online and self paced, I genuinely felt like it’s transactional because if we don’t take the class, we can’t get married. I am a newer Catholic, and I am trying to do everything correct. I genuinely don’t know what this class entails, because it’s my first rodeo. I was hoping to find out if this was a normal price and for different perspectives to be given.

Within 30 minutes, these women just came in and chastised me for having a “expensive dress that I’ll never wear again, DJ’s are not important, and that my faith needs to be questioned.” It was actually insane and I ended up deleting the post. For anyone wondering, my dress is second hand, my family is helping pitch in, and everything I’ve purchased for the wedding has been off of Facebook marketplace or extreme sales online. Before I could defend myself, comments were turned off and I just deleted the post.

This year, my priest left. We have a new one who does things differently. A lot of things have changed since the beginning of this wedding planning and it’s been very back and forth as to who is supplying the updated information.

I was hoping to be met with a community, instead a bunch of untrue assumptions were made about my character, my financial situation, my faith, and about how my parish operates. I’m already overwhelmed with the wedding itself, and this just threw me for a loop. I know the internet can be harsh, but I wasn’t expecting such hostility from a Catholic group.

Anyways, thanks for listening.
