My experience doing Social media Ads VS Reddit Ads

Hey guys. This is just my experience:

- from Apr 17 to Apri 30, I spent about 100 usd in short video content, vertical videos on TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, etc.

- On May 8 I stopped those campaigns, and started testing reddit ads, spending the minimum 20usd per day.

I'm not even sure i';s worth it, but I'm done anyway since I spent all my marketing budget.

I dont have a demo, but I opened a playtest a week ago. (still open)

Uploaded my game to itch and only got 10 views. But players from Steam are loving it, what should I do?

Hi, I opened my Steam playtest a week ago, and people have been loving it: players with more than 40 hours already.

So I decided to make a new build and uploaded it to itch ( https://franz10.itch.io/eslabong )

Wow I was hit hard by the cruelty of itch. I thought it would help bring in more players, but just a few minutes after I uploaded the game, I saw almost 100 NEW games !!! My game has 3 downloads after 5 days.

Now I am really considering pushing social media to itch instead of Steam, but what is the benefit of doing that? I love Itch and have been using it as a player for a LONG time, but now as a developer I feel its not worth it.

Any people on a similar boat? What are your thoughts?

Venham testar o playtest do meu arena combat + club management

Fala, galera! Estou desenvolvendo o Eslabong e abri o playtest faz alguns dias.

No jogo, você pode controlar seu lutador diretamente com WASD ou jogar de um jeito mais tático, como manager**/**autobattler. O game tem torneios, compra e venda de lutadores, campeões, bosses e um monte de classes e habilidades diferentes.

Ontem adicionei o primeiro summoner: The Necromancer!

Vou deixar o link da Steam nos comentários si quiser jogar. Valeu!

Just added Battle speed controls to my Arena battler + Team management. Playtest open!

Hi! I am the solo developer of Eslabong, an arena battle + team management game, where you can either control your fighter or set tactics and let the CPU battle it out.

I have added way better control for people that prefer to play like an autobattler: camera controls with WASD or Mouse, battle speed control with TAB, you give orders with F1 F2 F3 and F4, and better AI tactics.

The steam playtest is now open, and I will really appreciate feedback from people like you, like RTS players.

I will leave the steam link in the comments. Thank you!

Hey everyone!

I have just opened a free Playtest on Steam to gather feedback and your thoughts on the game.

If you are interested in trying it out, I will leave the link in the comments below.

Playtest open for my new upcoming arena battles + management game

Hello ! I am Franz, solo developer of Eslabong, an upcoming Arena combat + Club management.

The idea of the game is to fight battles, either controling one of your fighters or setting tactics and letting your team battle it out.

Yesterday I opened the first public playtest on Steam, and would love to get feedback from people from this community: people that love autobattlers like i do.

The game is in active development so you may encounter bugs. Also I am adding more and more features to make the management and autobattler side better and more fun.

Steam link in comments.

Thanks for checking it out!!!!

Hallo zusammen!

Danke!

I have been solo developing Eslabong, an arena combat + team/club management with structured leagues and tournaments. You control your fighter with WASD or joystick and manage your team outside fights.

I have added several classes, one of them the typical Paladin/Crusader, so it was a must to add a blessed hammer style ability.

What do you think? any feedback or idea is welcome.

Also if you are interested in more, you can check the steam page in the comments.

Thanks.

Hey, I've been working solo on my arena combat + club management game for a while now.
I think the gameplay loop is great and the battles are fun. But maybe I need to open playtests and get hit by reality... idk.

But anyway, started a few days ago a devlog series, just uploaded the 4rd one, what do you think? Does it help build interest or it's better to spend my time developing the game? Took me a few hours.

DEVLOG 4:

In this log, I will talk about the teams and leaders that make Eslabong fights memorable and fun.

In Eslabong, each week consists of a number of tournaments. The main one is the League, which runs throughout the entire season. There are also two cups: one is a smaller 3v3 or 2v2 tournament called the Midcup, and the other is the Champion Cup at the end of the season, which you qualify for by finishing in the top 8.

There are two additional events. One is the Chaos Thunder Cup, which pits 4 teams against each other in a 3v3v3v3 battle. Finally, there is the All-Star Match, which brings together the 10 best fighters in an epic showmatch.

The Teams

During each season, there are 20 teams competing for all these trophies. One of them is the player’s team. The other 19 fall into two categories: pre-generated named teams, which are handcrafted with unique backstories, leaders, and playstyles; and randomly generated teams with random leaders and compositions.

Named Teams

These handcrafted teams are the toughest fights you will face. For example, the team Binary Orcs is led by the Orc Warlord UgShatup and features various orc warriors and shamans. Another example is the Order of Innervision, a team composed of mages and wizards, led by Lord Innervision: a powerful sorcerer with a unique ability called "Inner Barrage," which launches four homing magic missiles to annihilate the battlefield.

Currently, there are more than 25 teams (and many more to come), each with their own backstory and style of play. At the end of each season, the teams that finish last are disbanded, and their leaders and members are sent to the market. New teams may then appear. This ensures that every season feels different. Teams like the Order of Innervision or the Binary Orcs might not appear until later seasons in a campaign, such as Season 8... for example.

Champions

Champions are special fighters who may appear in auctions, or... if you’re lucky, they might approach you with an offer to join your team.

They don’t belong to a specific class. For example, there are champions like Lady Osurac, who combines ice and shaman abilities, making her kit truly unique. You might also encounter UgZormak, a Black Orc who blends warrior and paladin skills.

There are currently more than 30 champions in the game. My personal favorite is Chuki the King, a small but cunning goblin with a special ability that makes him dance and "taunt" every enemy within a 250px radius. Besides finding champions in auctions or offers, they may appear in later seasons leading their own team.

Final words

Eslabong is built around variety, unpredictability, and personality. From structured weekly tournaments to chaotic multi-team battles, every season offers a different competitive landscape.

With a mix of handcrafted teams, randomly generated opponents, and a growing roster of unique champions, no two runs play out the same. Teams rise and fall, disbanding and making room for new contenders that emerge to shift the balance.

Whether you're building your squad, facing legendary teams, or discovering new champions, the goal is always the same: create memorable fights and stories, and tto make the player enjoy and have FUN.

Thanks for reading. Again if you are interested, don't forget to Wishlist the game, we will open playtests very soon. Demo is coming too!

OBRIGADO!

Some players have asked:

What exactly do you do in Eslabong?

So today I wanted to explain the core gameplay loop and the systems

Control One Fighter

First of all, during battles, you directly control one mercenary in real time.

Move across the arena, choose your positioning, attack at the right moment and use abilities to win the fight. While you focus on your chosen fighter, the rest of your team is controlled by AI based on their class, role and tactics.

You can switch anytime who you are controlling in the battles. And this creates a unique mix of direct action and team-based strategy. You are never controlling an entire army, but your individual decisions can still change the outcome of the match.

A perfectly timed engage, casting a shield on an ally or eliminating a key enemy leader can decide the battle.

Build Your Club

Outside the arena, you take control of every aspect of your club's growth.

You can buy and sell mercenaries on the market, scout hidden talent, replace underperforming veterans and build a roster that fits your preferred style of play. You can also set tactics or priorities for your fighters. Currently there are more than 25 different classes.

Facilities can also be upgraded over time, improving different areas of the organization such as training, recovery, scouting and long-term development. For example, if you upgrade your Training Hall, not only you will get better passive bonus XP, but also be able to use a Training service that provides 1 extra ability to a mercenary of your choice.

Every decision matters. A smart transfer, a better facility or the right tactical adjustment can be the difference between surviving the season or competing for trophies.

Seasons, Leagues and Cups

Each season is built around structured competition, similar to a football or sports league.

Teams face each other during the regular league season, where every match matters. Wins, draws and losses award different amounts of points, gold and renown, creating a constant race for the standings.

Midway through the season, clubs enter the Mid Season Cup, usually focused on smaller formats such as 2v2 or 3v3 battles.

Later comes the Chaos Cup, where four teams of three fighters clash in a more unpredictable tournament format.

Finally, the season ends with the Champions Cup, where the top eight clubs qualify for the final tournament and compete for the biggest title of the year.

Strong results throughout the season help grow your club, attract better mercenaries and unlock new opportunities. There are also special matches each season, like All-star matches or events to make every season unique.

No Two Seasons Are The Same

Regarding that "unique" feeling, every season creates new stories.

The mercenary market changes constantly, different fighters become available: there are lots of unique champions with strange and weird skills to hire. Clubs rise or collapse, and new opportunities appear depending on your results.

Some runs may focus on building a balanced team for long-term success. Others may revolve around a rare champion, a powerful class combination or an unexpected underdog squad.

Because rosters, opponents and outcomes keep changing, no two seasons play the same way.

Winning once is only the beginning - building a lasting dynasty is the real challenge.

What Comes Next

We are very close to a public playtest.

I am almost done with the tutorial, and after that I expect to send keys to discord members and people interested in checking it before the DEMO comes out next month.

Thank you for following the project.

If Eslabong sounds like your kind of game, please wishlist it on Steam and follow development to be notified when the playtest begins.

Franz.
