I know, I'm beating a dead horse here, but... Back in 2022/2023, I was honestly pretty disappointed when FE Engage was announced, because it wasn’t the direction I wanted to see Fire Emblem take after Three Houses. For all the flaws you guys should be aware of by this point, I had fun with Engage, but I also found it underwhelming, and I was worried about the future of Fire Emblem and whether the series was still something for me. If you love Engage, that’s great! More power to you!

Fortune's Weave, on the other hand, feels much more like the direction I want the series to go in - with a focus on characters you actually want to learn more about, strong world-building focus, grounded character designs, and a small touch of dark fantasy. All the theories and speculations I've seen here in this sub make me even more excited.

I’d still be excited if the game were completely standalone, but the fact that the game even builds upon the rich world-building and lore of Three Houses makes it even better! It feels like the game wants to reward me for playing all of Three Houses/Hopes.

Personally, I think we'll just see some Easter eggs and small references to her here and there. If it's a prequel, Dietrich will probably occasionally refer to the current Adrestian Emperor, considering that he's from House Lamine of the Adrestian Empire. However, I don't think we'll see much of the lords, nor do I think we'll get any new information that tells us, "This character from Three Houses was right!" (or wrong), or anything like that. I don't even expect FW to add much to the "Empire vs Church" discourse from Three Houses.

I also don't think we'll see an "Edelgard look-alike" in the same way that Ursula is to Marianne. However, I do think we'll meet a person (perhaps even one with brown hair, Edelgard's original hair color) who holds the Crest of Seiros and is actually related to Edelgard.
