35M. Feeling pretty broken after a string of injuries. How do I rebuild?

I’m 35 and have been active pretty much my entire life. Martial arts, lifting, CrossFit, hiking, etc. But the last few years have really worn me down.

I spent a little over two years dealing with a bulging disc in my back, which thankfully is finally feeling better. Now my PT thinks I’m dealing with tendinitis, likely involving my soleus. I believe it started from repeatedly using the clutch in my truck, and I’m also dealing with what seems to be tendon pain in my wrist.

I know these aren’t catastrophic injuries, but after more than two years of constantly thinking about pain and what I can and can’t do, I honestly just feel broken. I want my body to feel normal again. My calve / soleus will start to feel better and then I do the exercises and it hurts so bad the next day for a few days. I feel like it’s wearing on me and my relationship. I’d do anything to feel like my athletic self again.

I was also recently let go from my job and don’t have health insurance right now, so I’m trying to figure out how to rebuild intelligently with what I have.

For anyone who has gone through a period like this, did you over come it?

What’s the longest an injury has derailed your fitness?

I think I’m partly just looking for some sympathy and comeback stories

I’m 35M and have been athletic my entire life, but the last 2.5 years I feel like I’ve been juggling injuries that have finally caught up with me as well as being in and out of PT for that time. From a bulging disc in my back to now dealing with bad tendinitis in my calf, I feel like I just can’t catch a break.

It’s frustrating to make progress, start feeling strong again, and then have something else set you back.

What’s the longest injury or stretch of injuries you’ve dealt with? Did you eventually get back to feeling like yourself again?

23.976 to 29.97 broadcast delivery / 3:2 pulldown in Premiere?

I’m working on my first national TV spot and I’m about to go into delivery. Everything was shot and edited at 23.976, but my understanding is that I’ll need to create a 29.97 broadcast master and do a 3:2 pulldown.

I’ve never had to do that out of Premiere before, so I was wondering if anyone has a solid step by step workflow they use for this.

Typically, once I’m locked, I bake out a ProRes master from Premiere and then create any web versions separately in HandBrake. For this, though, I’m not sure what the cleanest approach is for converting the 23.976 master to 29.97 without introducing ugly judder or making the motion feel unprofessional.

Would you normally handle the pulldown directly in Premiere during export, put the 23.976 master into a 29.97 sequence, or use something else entirely?

Any recommended settings or workflow would be hugely appreciated.

Has anyone dealt with calf or knee pain from driving a manual truck?

This is a slightly embarrassing post, and I’m not even sure if this is the right place to ask.

In November 2024 I bought my dream truck, a 2021 Tacoma TRD with a manual transmission. I grew up driving stick and drove manuals for most of my life, but about 10 years ago I switched to an automatic. I’ve always missed driving stick, so I was excited to get back into one.

About five months ago, after sitting through a long traffic jam, I noticed my left calf and knee started aching. I work out regularly and hike a lot, so at first I assumed it was from that. The pain would come and go, but I eventually started noticing a pattern. On days when I’m stuck in heavy traffic and using the clutch constantly, my calf and knee will ache that evening and sometimes into the next day.

I’ve seen a physical therapist twice. I’ve been doing the exercises he prescribed, adjusted my seat position, and really paid attention to my driving posture. He thinks it’s probably a deep overuse strain, but the pain hasn’t completely gone away. I’ve also adjusted my seat multiple times.

I’m curious if anyone else with a manual truck has experienced something similar. I know the Tacoma clutch is a little heavier than some cars, and honestly that’s one of the things I loved about it. The clutch feel was part of what sold me on the truck. But now I’m starting to wonder if I’m doing something wrong or if my body just isn’t adapting as well as I expected.

I really love this truck and hope to keep it for a long time. I’d hate for something like this to make me give up driving a manual.

Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, what ended up helping? Seat position, clutch technique, PT, stretching, or was it something completely unrelated?

Anyone else get calf or knee pain from driving a manual?

Has anyone dealt with calf or knee pain from driving a manual taco?

This is a slightly embarrassing post, and I’m not even sure if this is the right place to ask.

In November 2024 I bought my dream truck, a 2021 Tacoma TRD with a manual transmission. I grew up driving stick and drove manuals for most of my life, but about 10 years ago I switched to an automatic. I’ve missed driving stick ever since.

I currently live in a city where there’s a lot of traffic and plenty of hills. I knew that going in, but I also road trip across the country pretty regularly and figured I’d adapt.
About five months ago, after sitting through a particularly bad traffic jam, I noticed my left calf and knee started aching. I work out regularly and hike a lot, so at first I assumed it was from that. The pain would go away, then come back after heavy clutch use.

I saw a physical therapist who gave me exercises, and for a while I thought they were helping. But I started noticing a pattern: whenever I’d spend a long time in stop and go traffic, my calf or knee would ache that evening and sometimes into the next day.

I’ve since adjusted my seating position, been diligent with the PT exercises, and even went back for a follow up. He changed the exercises and thinks it’s probably a deep overuse strain. Even then it comes and goes.

Has anyone else experienced this? I know the Tacoma has a fairly heavy clutch, and honestly that’s one of the things I loved about it. The clutch feel was a big part of why I bought the truck. But now I’m starting to wonder if it was a mistake.
I really love this truck and hope to keep it for a long time, maybe even teach my future kids how to drive a manual in it someday. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s dealt with something similar. Did you find anything that helped? Was it seat position, PT, changing your driving technique, or something else?

Need help beating my buddies team.

I’m doing a challenge run against a friend in Pokémon Blue where we battle after every Gym with a level cap based on our progress. We just beat Koga, so our next battle will be at level 36. We just battled and he destroyed me…

His team is Cloyster, Starmie, Kangaskhan, Golem, Ivysaur, and Arcanine.

Mine is Wartortle, Marowak, Weepinbell, Vulpix, Fearow, and Hypno.

I’m open to replacing anyone on my team before the battle if there’s a stronger option available by this point in the game.

If you were in my shoes, what team would you build to counter his? Is there any movesets I should focus on?

The other rule we have is we can’t use sleep or alakazam.

I’d love to hear how you’d approach my next battle.

Is there a gundam series that got you hooked?

I know this has probably been asked a million times, but I’m trying to find my way into Gundam and keep bouncing off the original series.

Every time I try to watch the original, I get pretty bored and have a hard time sticking with it. I loved G Gundam as a kid, and I still build and paint Gunpla, I love the world/designs/mechs but I just haven’t really watched much of the actual anime.

Is there a standalone series that works as a good gateway drug into Gundam?

My favorite anime are
Haikyuu
Hajime No Ippo
Samurai Champloo
FLCL

How can I do the Mew glitch even if I beat Misty?

I’m currently on route 8 between Lavendar and Saffron. I’m struggling on what and how to exactly do the Mew glitch. Every YouTube tutorial only shows the Cerulean city guide. I have an abra and haven’t battled any trainers on Route 8. I’ve only read a couple places that says you can also do it here with the “gambler”? Really struggling and would love a step by step guide if anyone’s done it in this spot.

Finished my second Gundam!

Finished the diorama for the second Gundam, MG Delta Plus. Posted it a few weeks ago and just finally finished the whole piece. Was the first time I’ve build a nature diorama. Was really challenging but a ton of fun!

Here is my MG Delta Plus, I got this without reading too much about it first. I basically just picked a Gundam I thought looked cool and went for it.

Honestly, I probably should have checked some reviews beforehand because this was a big challenge for my second build. That said, I learned a ton. I tried some new types of weathering for the first time and experimented with a few different things. I may have overdone it a bit, but I’m really enjoying the process and excited for the next one.

Any tips or feedback would be appreciated. I’d love to keep getting better!
