Stiff vs No Edge questions
Hey all, been climbing for 5 years off and on but been getting consistent woth it this year. I started climbing in a stiff flat slab shoe and then ubgraded to La Sportiva Skwamas which I’ve absolutely loved.
Now the Skwamas are wearing out I’m considering either replacing or going for the even stiffer Sportiva Solutions. On the other hand I’ve never tried a softer more sensitive shoe and I’m getting curious about something like the Sportiva Mandala or similar.
Has anyone tried both styles of shoe and can share their experience?
I mostly boulder indoor but slowly getting into outdoor bouldering and sport and my style tends towards slab and crimpy overhanging, and I am very footwork focused (both things that make me think a stiffer shoe is the way).
The more reasearch I do the more it seems like a lot of it is up to personal preference, but I don’t wanna be stuck with a soft shoe if I find out I don’t like it.
Excited to hear your opinions!
Anybody got a line on a good space ghost stickers?
My new bike build fondly named “Space Ghost (coast no coast)” and I need a good small Space Ghost decal to make it complete. Don’t wanna biy some random shitty dropship sticker off redbubble. Anyone know where I can get a nice one that supports original creators or a small independent artist?
The install pics for these aliexpress touring bars are sending me!
I reckon it went something like this:
Int. Carbon handlebar and home appliance megacorp factory international mfg.
“So Kevin, we are making these crazy new bars for the western market and we need some product shots of them on the bike”
“What the hell? I’ve never seen bars like that! How are they even supposed to go on the bike??”
“I don’t know! Just make them look cool and high performance!”
NBD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just bought this absolute ripper! This is the first moderately nice bike I’ve ever owned as I’ve pretty much always just ridden crusty old conversions or no name steel frames with the most affordable parts I could find and man it feels like such an upgrade! The build centers around the now hard to find red anondized Miche Primato cranks, for which the red novatec hubs were laced to DTSwiss RR521db rims. 28 Schwalbe tires which I will probably replace with something more fun soon. The red Con-Tec stem came out of the parts bin to tie it all together.
I’m still thinking about trying to source a bit more bling like red chainring bolts, axle nuts and maybe seatpost clamp but not sure if it’s too much. Also gonna see if I can manage to go down a half link to get the rear wheel properly tukt.
Anyway I couldn’t be happier. I know it’s not like the fanciest setup but I still feel like the kid that got the pony for Christmas
Where do you get your greebles?
I’m talkin all those little bits and bobs like bottle cage bolts, barrel adjusters etc. Pictured in order are Stridsland crank bolts, various parts from Wolf Tooth, and cable cherries from Forager Cycles. Any more recs for little bits of bling very appreciated!
It’s a lot handier than holding them in my mouth
Unlocked a new strat for keeping a bunch of screws handy for a framing project I’m doing. No I will not be getting a tool belt. No they don’t fall out when I thrash around. Yes this is so I can taste my zyn instead of having that metallic taste in my mouth all day.
Any idea why the stem retention screw keeps backing out (and how fix?)
Mid 50s (I think ‘54) rolex Hunter movement, every 3-5 months the stem retaining screw backs out a little bit so that the stem eventually pulls all the way out and then I have to pull off the caseback, tighten the screw and its fine for another few months. Anyone ever experienced this happening and do you have any tips for how to get it to stay? Cocktail skewer points to the offending screw.
What are these white cards and why are they used to make keychains?
What is Sean Connery wearing in this vintage playboy shoot?
It looks like a pretty iconic watch that I almost recognize but can’t put my finger on. Seiko maybe? Bulova?
