Background download on iPad.

Why things from browser don't download in the background?

The moment I minimize the browser to open, let's say whatsapp or youtube. the download is killed.

I need to be able to do other things while a 30GB file downloads at slow to medium speeds in the background.

Can't ' leave your screen turned on' while it's downloading either. As it makes the iPad Pro a very expensive paperweight.

It is a fatal issue and how do people don't talk about it?

Or am I doing something wrong and there's a setting you need to change.

I have tested in all sorts of browsers, Safari. chrome, Brave, Arc.

Nothing worked so I'm gonna conclude it's an actual issue.

Is it possible to disable double blink around an app window to recognise intention ?

When dragging files to separate app windows I have to wait 3 second every time for dual blink to register the intention. Is it possible to get rid of it. It's slowing me down. New to Mac

How can I sell MacBook with minimum loss? 3 weeks old

I needed an upgrade from my Asus and windows laptops were overpriced so bought a MacBook after careful thought. But I'm 3 weeks in and the macOS experience has been downright awful. I have to download apps everyday to get simple UX behaviours that should have been the default. and most of these apps are behind a paywall.

I thought I would adjust and compromise but there are new issues everyday. and it's raising my annoyance level.

Windows gets slack for being filled with ads. But when you are driving you can ignore a billboard. You can't ignore roadblocks.

Something as simple as file navigation feels clunky. When dragging file to separate apps windows I have to wait 3 second every time for dual blink to register the intention.

ChatGPT & Gemini have no clipboard memory nor ability to locate image history. Window management is a pain. Dock is useless apart from launching apps.

Natural scrolling is linked to trackpad & mouse, no global mic toggle, no ability to select a range of files in Finder. Extended tray for menu bar being missing.

I feel like I made a big and expensive mistake and my work is taking a hit.

I have a MacBook Air M5 24GB Ram, 1TB Storage - Sky Blue.

I bought for 1.7L including Apple Care+

Looking for a camera phone as good as the iPhone 17. for both photo and video.

Specs aren't that important since I don't game as much. Casual MOBAs are enough.

I had absolutely horrible experience with the iPad and Macbook that I bought out of necessity rather than choice. Since no windows options.

The experience with apple products has been so horrible that if I ever delete myself. I guarantee Apple will be the tipping point that leads me to it. Downright disgusting software. I really do not want to face a new set of challenges and disappointments buying an iPhone.

My moto's camera is broken so need a new phone, and am looking for something as versatile as an iPhone 17's camera. Budget is the same. 70-80K range

Hotspot turns itself OFF on it's own (not just disconnects)

Hotspot turns itself OFF (not just disconnects clients), usually 1–2 mins after screen goes off / phone idles. Started after updating from Android 15 → 16 on Motorola Mobility.

Things I already tried:

Confirmed hotspot auto-turn-off is set to Never

Battery Saver OFF

Adaptive Battery OFF

Adaptive Connectivity OFF

Set battery usage to Unrestricted for:

Carrier Services

Google Play Services

Connectivity Services

Switched hotspot band (2.4GHz / compatibility mode)

Recreated hotspot from scratch

Rebooted phone multiple times

Airplane mode reset

Full Network Reset (Wi-Fi / mobile / Bluetooth)

Cleared cache for:

Carrier Services

Google Play Services

Connectivity Services

Checked system is fully updated

Tested in Safe Mode (issue still happens there too)

Confirmed no VPN running

.

Hotspot stays stable while screen is ON

After screen turns OFF and phone idles for a bit, hotspot toggles itself OFF completely

Safari completely blocks multi-part Google Drive zip downloads

When I download a massive folder on Google Drive from a Windows PC, Google automatically splits it into multiple 2GB zip chunks (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, etc.) and downloads them all simultaneously.

On my Mac using Safari, it only downloads Part 1. The other zip chunks never trigger. Safari doesn't even prompt or ask me if I want to download multiple files.

Is safari tone deaf and I have to switch browsers now? And will I face the same issue on other's?

P.S, New to Mac. Two weeks in. I encounter problems here and there and every solution is gatekept behind a paid app.

Need snippet and screen capture to both copy to clipboard and saved to folder.

So by default with cmd + shift + 4, I get a snippet and with cmd + shift +3, I get Full screen screenshot.

Issue is, I want the capture to be BOTH copied to the clipboard AND be saved to a particular designated folder.

It's how I was working with windows laptops. It was seamless for the kind of work that I do.

I'm trying scripts with the help of Gemini and all. In the beginning it worked flawlessly then it kind of didn't. And hasn't ever since.

I've tried many options but none worked. Please help.

MacOS consumes just as much RAM as Windows, Why is there a double standard? and what makes them different?

So I've been a windows user for the past 15 or so years. Since Windows XP days.

I was looking for a windows laptop with good battery life and performance but all the panther lake laptops are overpriced and/ or just straight up scam, as companies advertised ARC laptops but then shipped only in select hyper-expensive models,

Always hated Apple because I don't like being told on what I can or can't do on my own computer. But I had to switch to a MacBook Air M5 last week because my previous Windows Laptop was lagging quite consistently now and my Adobe apps were crashing a lot, while battery barely held on for 1 hour. mostly less.

My main concern and complain with Windows has always been that it eats too much RAM, and thought it's the main reason for sluggishness of my windows.

I today looked into my Activity Monitor on MacOS and saw that it is hogging RAM in the exact same way. Each Safari tab consuming as much memory as a Chrome tab. ( No Photoshop or Illustrator is open )

So what makes them different? As so far I haven't felt any lag from my computer.
But I do not know if it's just because of better optimisations or I'm simply feeling it cause of the Hardware Upgrade, better chip n more RAM.

What's the difference between the two and will Windows match to that speed?

P.S Things I like on the Mac so far -

My previous laptop was also a 60hz screen. BUT animations on Mac just feels A LOT smoother and fluid.

Battery Life is awesome. Easily lasts me a day's work. For now.

Even with this though, I am not experiencing the ' It just works' argument either as for every minor little UX expectation, I have to recalibrate myself and add an App that only performs one specific UI behaviour that should have been there from the start.

No toggle on and off for microphone,
No app specific volume mixer.
No Cmd + X for cut.
No copying to clipboard when taking a screenshot.
No option to change file icons. (psd, ai files for example show preview of inside, makes it difficult to distinguish between images and )

I do understand that it's a completely different platform and I have to an adjust myself and learn it from scratch but not being able to perform crucial navigation is a miss on their part.

I will most likely switch back to Pantherlake or Better windows laptops once the price dies down. And they can compete more aggressively.

Although I have liked the experience WAY MORE than the one I had with iPads. NO BACKGROUND DOWNLOADS? SERIOUSFKINLY? Those devices are jacks#it for their price.

[Android][Pre-2015] Dark medieval fantasy RPG, turn-based combat

Story-driven,

title may have contained "Blood" or "Brother"

P.S It's not blood brothers nor blood and glory

I'm trying to identify an Android game I played around prior to 2015 on Android devices.

What I remember:

Dark medieval fantasy setting

Story-driven with narrative/cutscenes (possibly illustrated or hand-drawn).

I distinctly remember a cutscene playing in the beginning of the game.

Turn-based combat

Relatively polished 3D graphics for the time

Combat was viewed from a side-on perspective kinda like tekken, shadow fight.

Had large fantasy bosses, including what I remember as an ogre/troll-like as main boss

Gritty visual style, not anime/cute/cartoon

The title may have contained words like Blood, Brother, Brothers, Brotherhood, Glory,

Sometimes in some specific apps or games, I get stuck at a screen on account of no universal back gesture.

In such cases i have to close and lose all progress on whatever i was doing, when i could have simply slid back a breadcrumb or page. Is there a fix for that?

Is background downloads just not allowed in the iPad?

Can we make exemptions for automatic 'pause' for specific apps, including safari, to keep running in the memory?

I'm looking for this game I once saw when I was browsing through YouTube. Was kind of looking for melee battle royal or MMO.

i think it had something like Arena or Hero in name?

not sure if the servers are closed or if the game i still up or in beta. could be a possibility.

its not ashes of creation, its not warcraft, It's not shadow arena.

medieval magic fantasy kind of?

PC][2020-2024] Third Person MMORPG or Battle Royale, Open World, Magic Fantasy, Great Combat.

The closet search result appearance wise I've found is Shadow Arena though.

[PC][2022-2024?] Indie Monster Hotel/Mansion Management and Auction Game, Cozy Gothic, Chibi Top-Down.

I remember this game i downloaded from fitgirl just to try out, Many years later it pops up in my memory and i cant remember the name.

you inherit a rundown mansion or hotel and slowly repair/upgrade different parts of it. there’s a homunculus companion/helper with you i think.monster guests regularly visit/check in and there’s a strong narrative/dialogue focus. i vaguely remember some kind of auction mechanic tied to the management side too.

Remember it being a top-down indie game with a chibi-ish artstyle and flat illustrated dialogue boxes with slightly more ' anime' artwork during dialogue

tone was more cozy gothic fantasy than horror.

one of the most distinctive things:
the protagonist is human but occasionally transforms into a cat-like monster/beast like.
