for the skiers out there who have recovered from a TKR and are back at it…

For the skiers out there who have recovered from a TKR and are back at it, what’s your experience been like? how long after surgery were you able to ski? have you been able to get back to skiing stuff that you couldn’t ski before your TKR? how’s the pain level while skiing?

Before my left TKR (5/14/26) I’ve only been able to ski groomers for the last few years and really only for a few laps. Really hoping I’ll be able to ski for longer periods of time and be able to get off piste and back into wild snow and technical terrain again. nothing crazy – definitely plan to keep my skis firmly planted on the snow, but hope to be able to keep up with my kids and my buddies again.

for all the athletes out there, any interest in a new sub?

I’d like to start a sub specifically for people who are looking to get back to a high-level of activity / athletics after their knee replacement. Not that I dislike this sub – on the contrary, it’s been huge for me and others in navigating the replacement landscape. However, I’d like to have a group of people who are looking to get back to a high-level of activity to exchange ideas and experiences – not to alienate anybody else but because the discussion ends up being a little bit different when it comes to merely living without pain versus getting back to participating in high level activities.

thoughts?

Will reduce the value of these ‘73 – S Ikes if I remove them from these big cases and put them in smaller size round cases?

I hate these big bulky cases for just a single coin. Will the value be reduce if i take them out of the big rectangular case and instead put them in smaller Ike-sized round cases?

any idea of value?

Hi all. I posted this a little bit ago, but did not include a video, so I'm adding that this time. My mom has this black opal that my stepdad purchased for her about 30 years ago in Australia. Sorry, I don’t have a way to measure the karats, but It measures .5” long X .4” wide X .25” thick. Any ballpark idea of the value of the stone? Thanks!

anyone feel so exhausted and lacking in energy that you’ve felt ill?

I just hit the one month mark yesterday since my LTKR (May 14). My pain is very manageable at this point and I’m hardly using pain meds except for the occasional Tylenol after a hard PT session. my biggest issue now is feeling completely exhausted and lacking an energy to even do just basic things pretty much all the time. my sleep sucks so obviously this contributes to it. recently, it’s gotten to the point where I feel physically sick and nauseous. I’m pretty sure it’s due to the exhaustion, but maybe I actually have the flu or something. Anybody else experienced this?

i’m eight days in and this absolutely sucks.

just ranting. 8 days post LTKR. Everything is going exactly it’s supposed to go but I freaking hate this. This is my fifth major orthopedic surgery and third major joint replacement. I was very cocky going into this thinking it’s old hat, no big deal, I’ve done all this before. well yeah, I’m absolutely knocked on my ass and I hate this and I want this to be done.

anyone have experience with black lion mesh sold by savage lacrosse? it’s a good price at $10 a piece (and they sell the rest of the string kit for $6), but i know nothing about this product. let me know if you know. thanks!
