Very quiet cold snowy day at the snow park on highway 88 Carson pass. Very popular winter camping spot for people going into the backcountry or going to Kirkwood resort. Weekends it fills up with people snowshoeing, Alpine touring and cross-country skiing in toward round top peak on day trips.
It's about a 5-hour tour across both lakes and up to a beautiful winter camp at haypress meadows. The view at haypress Meadows is desolation wilderness to the west and echo lakes and Tahoe to the east. Mount Ralston with really fun skiing right above you.
Dogs are allowed on the trails there. It's one of the quieter parks. It's a lot less crowded than Castle Rock State Park where dogs are not allowed on the trails.
It's hot dry and brown but still very pretty.. almost no one here today
We caught the last half of the Flatlanders on the next stage, came over to try to see Peter Rowan and Sam grisman. That's as close as we could get. Standing on the road up by the bike stands. It was still pretty good. It's just the drawback of trying to catch two acts.
Spring corn snow equipment. The equipment I am using here is cheap used nice tua Telemark skis, heavy 3-pin binding, 35 mm skins, I'm 71 now so sometimes the skin's just stay on for the up and the down.
Beautiful classic moderate climb up discovery wall.
100-year-old beautiful Hot springs with camping, community room, classes, music, women's garden and more.
