How did you meet your significant other in Chicago?

29M and haven’t really been in a relationship longer than a few months. I’m ashamed to say this for various reasons mostly due to my confidence and having to deal with some life events that weren’t ideal a few years back.

I’m trying to meet women right now and it’s brutal especially on dating apps. I’m trying to make an effort to get out to the bars and meet people, but it’s mostly a miss especially since I can’t handle having more than one or two drinks without feeling sick. I have gotten a few numbers since I moved here, but it’s always been a no lol.

How did you meet someone here? I live in the downtown area for reference.

[Grand Seiko] The journey is better than the destination

I’ve been fawning over the Grand Seiko SBGA413 (Shunbun) for years since it was released. I finally realized I was at a point in my life where there really couldn’t be a better time to buy my grail watch now. Who knows what the future holds because for all I know I could be hit with an equivalent medical bill of what I spent on this watch tomorrow lol.

So I was lucky to be able to walk into an AD and get a significant discount with an out the door price of $6,800. I was so happy and excited, and then I felt a some anxiety in the moment. The excitement of owning is one thing, but that money I saved was gone. The anticipation of getting it was gone after years of thinking and looking at it.

In a lot of ways it is a very bittersweet experience right now for me.

I will treasure this watch, but sometimes the journey is better than the destination. Enjoy life for what it is.

Edit: $6,800 not $5,800

Didn't realize the high-beat and spring drive have different dials

I have been interested in getting a White Birch spring drive for a while now. With the new UFA coming out, I got to see a demo of it today at a local AD.

I was completely unaware that the dial was different on the spring drive vs high-beat. It is a lot more matte on the spring drive compared to the reflectivity of the high-beat. I was a little disappointed as I really liked the shine of the dial on the high-beat, but wanted the spring drive movement. I guess I will be passing on this one. Not that it is a bad watch, but it wasn't for me unfortunately.

I will probably get the shunbun.

I am giving up on the brand forever

I will try to keep this short.

Over 2.5 years ago, I purchased a brand new Nomos Ahoi from my AD after trading in a Grand Seiko Quartz and an Tudor Black Bay. I wanted to concentrate my watches into a single one that could do it all. The Ahoi fit that perfectly. I also love the design of this watch.

Within the first 24 hours of receiving it, I noticed just how crap the lume was on it. I wasn't expecting it to beat out my Tudor in a lume battle, but my god is it awful. On top of that it was gaining about a minute a day. It was sent it after about two weeks for a full service under warranty.

Before you ask, I did purchase a demagnetizer off amazon. I did look up videos on how to use it and I do it multiple times.

Three months or so goes by and I get it back and the lume is still bad, but I can live with that. Finally it was starting to run right again along with some regular demagnetizing.

Anyway, all was fine for the next six months until I moved to the other side of the country for a new job, I noticed that it was starting to run fast again by about a minute a day gaining about five minutes a week. I decided to take it in again and have it looked at and the local AD that sold Nomos said that they got a similar reading after testing. It was sent back again for another service under warranty.

Another three months goes by and I get it back. Then the same thing happened again, it was fine for the first few weeks and then it started to run fast again by about a minute a day. I still tried to demagnetize it and nothing.

At this point, I had just accepted for the next year that this is how it ran and it was a flawed watch that needed to be reset every week.

It was fine until I bought a $300 Seiko with an automatic movement that is about 1 or 2 seconds fast a day. This is a watch that costs ~1/15 of my Nomos and it was tuned as well as chronometer spec. WTF.

I am furious at this point that I decided to take it to a different Nomos dealer where I live and they have the ability to do a full service in house. The readings they were giving me were on point of it gaining a minute a day. While I admit that I have yet to have a quote come back, I know that it will be several hundred dollars since it is now out of warranty.

I am giving up on it.

The hilarious thing to me is that this seems to be a common occurrence, with these watches. I think it is unacceptable for a company to be charging this much only for the watch to run several times out of spec even after coming back from official service. I am finished with this brand and selling this damn thing. I am going to eat this loss sadly.

Anyone from Chicago here?

I am in the final stages of interviewing for a job that would require me to relocate to Austin, and I am heavily considering taking it.

For reference, I actually live downtown without a car, but I am tired of this lifestyle and want get back into the quiet suburbs where I don’t have to spend $2k+ for a one bedroom.

I’m very aware of the heat and politics. Overall, though, what is life like for you and would you do it again?

Lost virginity last night and worried I used the condom wrong

I am not sure if I am overreacting or not.

So last night, I had a girl over to my place who I have been dating for a few weeks. One thing led to another and we ended up having sex. The next morning I am freaking out over a possible pregnancy panic and she doesn’t seem to be super worried since I used condoms. She said she had her period a few days ago.

I admit that my virginity got taken last night, so I am new to all of this. For reference, I am a male in his 20s living on the east coast.

Why I am concerned about it is because even though I did use a condom the first time when we did do it, I still got nervous as I ejaculated that it slipped off or broke, but thankfully it didn’t as when I did take it off all the “contents” spilled onto my stomach. This all happened in the dark so I am nervous I messed up something.

I went into the bathroom, cleaned up, and then we went another round and this time I used a new condom. The thing that makes me the most concerned is that I put the condom on backward briefly and then flipped it around when I realized it wouldn’t roll down. This is apparently a common thing if I am not mistaken. Again this happened in the dark.

I am worried that some of the precum or other contents might have still been leftover when I flipped over the condom and used it. This time I didn’t have enough juice in me to ejaculate again thankfully.

She doesn’t seem worried, but I am since this is my first time.

Lost virginity last night and worried I used the condom wrong. Kind of freaking out.

Using a throwaway.

So last night, I had a girl I have been dating over last night and one thing led to another and we had sex.

I will admit that it was my first time and I am pretty sure the first time I put the condom on correctly because everything came spilling out when I took it off afterwards. I went and cleaned up and then not too long after we started going at it again.

This time I think I may have accidentally touch the tip on the wrong wide before I flipped it over. Keep in mind this is AFTER I cleaned it up from the first time.

This time as we are going at it, I didn’t have enough juice in me to ejaculate again thankfully.

I should mention that we did this in this all in the dark and I have no idea if she is on birth control.

I am currently freaking out a bit the next morning after and I am not sure what I should be doing next. Plan B or should I just hope and pray nothing happens?

Edit: it is clear that I did a very poor job of wording this. I should clarify that I didn't use the condom again. That is gross and idiotic. I wrote this as a word salad when I woke up paying little attention to how this was written. Sorry for that.

I will say thank you all for the advice and congrats lol. It seems that everything should be fine since I likely used it correctly. I did talk with her and she doesn't seem worried. I might be overreacting.
