SilverCloud Programme

Hello,

Has anyone done the SilverCloud programme?

I've specifically been put on it for emotional dysregulation due to ADHD and maladaptive coping mechanisms being used too frequently.

The first week has just been basically describing ADHD (as if I don't know about it from my own experience and my friends' and family's experience as well as doing significant reading but okay), writing a letter to my younger self and setting goals.

At what point is my supporter likely to help me set goals or suggest tools for my specific issue or will they not be able to if it doesn't fit within that week of the course?

I'm concerned this is a complete waste of my time.

PMDD + ADHD: help with coping when emotional overload becomes constant

Hello!

I have found, over the last couple of months, my meltdowns have started to crop up almost daily. They are particularly predictable around exercise. Usually during my gym session or directly afterwards. The timing and/or intensity of the session tends to be irrelevant.

They are worse post-ovulation.

I'm finding the intensity building (crying, frustration, self-directed internal rage) and more unhealthy coping mechanisms creeping in. The coping mechanisms are actually the biggest issue but I feel the only way to stop those behaviours is to reduce the requirement for them by trying to tackle the emotional flooding.

I've tried a lot of the normal coping strategies like reducing load where I can, focusing on soothing hobbies like colouring, reading and video games, spending more time in comfortable spaces like at home with my pets but they still keep coming.

For a short time having a sweet treat after training did work but it seemed my brain worked out I was trying to trick her.

Does anyone have similar experiences? Can you offer some practical tips/tricks?

For clarity - I'm diagnosed with ADHD and PMDD. I'm not medicated.

FocusMate Fail

The co-working platform FocusMate was recommended to me recently to help me when I'm in work but need body doubling.

I was feeling positive about it and I have a particular task I need to work on today where I need some body doubling to get going so I sign up.

I booked 3 different sessions and they were all no shows. So I spent about an hour, setting them up, waiting, joining, no show and repeat. Now I've got no work done at all and my sensitivity to rejection is heavily triggered.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Encouraging affectionate cats to come to me

Hello,

I have 2 male cats, a bonded pair, and they are very well socialised, affectionate and friendly.

They want lots of attention and I'm happy to give it to them but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on getting them to come to me for it.

At the moment what happens is I'll be on the sofa or my bed and the cats will sit on the floor in the middle of the room and cry until I go to them to pet them. They'll be very happy and pur, roll around etc then when I go back and sit down they start screaming again.

If I ignore the screaming eventually they just give up and either go away or lie down and sleep.

It's starting to really upset me that I can't just relax and read a book or watch TV without the screaming or without me having to crawl around on the floor with them.

The older one used to happily settle next to me on the sofa and still does with guests.

34F | UK | Meal tracking, workouts and check in sheet

Hello,

I'm a 34 year old woman working full time and trying to keep up with my fitness goals. I'm diagnosed with ADHD, both inattentive and hyperactive types, and really struggle to maintain structure that's not externally held. My coach is currently on maternity leave and it would be great to have an accountability buddy who also tracks their food and works out a few times a week.

I'm not bothered really about timezone and happy to keep in touch via Reddit dms or discord. Must be 18+, 21+ preferred. Would be happy to discuss how best to check in with each other once we're in contact because it would depend on timezones and how often we both train.

Hello everyone,

I've been self-diagnosed for years, but I finally went through the process to get a formal diagnosis and, sure enough, off the scale for both inattentiveness and hyperactivity. The latter was a bit of a surprise.

Has anyone gone through this and then felt a bit lost in terms of the next steps?

I'm not going down the medication route. As I already knew I had ADHD the diagnosis is validating but not exactly earth shattering. I have found that I am immediately masking less and overriding/forcing myself less but I'm concerned that if this continues I will become every more chaotic and out of control than I already am.

If anyone else has successfully negotiated this phase and has any advice or words of wisdom I'd really appreciate it.

Hello,

I'm hoping that some of you guys may have experienced what I'm going through and might have some tips/tricks/words of wisdom.

I'm coached by an online coach and I've been in a really good routine of ticking all my boxes for months. Gym sessions done, food eaten and tracked, steps and cardio done. All just ticking over nicely with no drama.

My coach is now on leave due to personal circumstances for a few weeks. Clients were all warned in plenty of time and we were set up with our plans to follow while she's away dealing with a family situation and will be unreachable during this time.

What I hadn't realised was just how much having her there was actually holding the structure in place. I have heard that with ADHD brains the external structure is what's required but I had thought as I had built up such solid routines over the last 6-9 months they would have become automatic. It seems not.

Meal structure was the first to collapse, then tracking food and calories, now daily weighing has fallen off. She only been off for 5 days.

Training and steps are still intact for the time being but they've been more automatic for years, well before I had this coach.

Any insights, shared experience, support welcomed and greatly appreciated.
