Sooo, this was a bad idea. There were some road closures, so the GPS decided 'hey, y'know what would be fun? Highway!' and there I was, on the Monkey, trying to merge onto the highway.

As long as you can keep right, and maybe draft the cars and vans in front of you a bit, it's doable... not great, but survivable. 😄

Vroegah, toen ik nog in half-gare auto's reed, kwam ik geregeld op de sloop om mijn gebakje gaande te houden, of om te kijken welke onderdelen van auto's ik pas zou kunnen maken om de mijne wat op te fluffen. En onderweg kwam ik altijd wel iets tegen wat ik wou hebben waarvan ik 30 seconden geleden niet bedacht had dat ik het wou hebben. (Dashboardklok van een oude BMW staat al jaren op mijn bureau als soort-van-horloge) Als je dan gevonden had wat je wou hebben, had je meteen een mooi oefenobject om te kijken hoe iets los moest. Vaak lagen die auto's toch al half-open, en kon je dus mooi zien waar alle clipjes/beugeltjes/boutjes/etc zaten voordat je het op je eigen auto (die nog helemaal dicht is) ging proberen.

Ik heb recent, naast mijn exotische rare hobbyauto, een winterauto gekocht, en wil daar wat dingetjes in vervangen om 'm wat aangenamer te maken. Het interieur is een beetje afgekloven, hij mist wat afdekplaatjes en zo her en der, en eigenlijk zou een trekhaak ook wel handig zijn. Dus ik vol goede moed naar een adresje waar ik vroeger veel kwam; blijkt dat het nu een 'autodemontage- en recyclingbedrijf' is geworden, waar ik op een website onderdelen kan bestellen welke zij dan voor mij gaan zoeken in hun eigen netwerk, en mij aanbieden in een webshop. Maarja, wat afdekplaatjes = koop maar een heel dashboard. En dingen die op meerdere types gebruikt zijn/passen, zie je pas als je het in je handen hebt....

Na wat belletjes links en rechts naar andere van zulke bedrijven blijkt dat er heel veel tegenwoordig op dit principe werken. Ze kopen een auto op, halen de grote (winstgevende?) delen als motoren, versnellingsbakken, en bodypanelen eraf, en wat er overblijft gaat de shredder in.

Zijn er nog van zulke old-school sloperijen waar je gewoon een beetje rustig kan rondstruinen? Waar halen jullie je kleine delen? Of is dit nu ook uitgestorven en moet ik mijn heil maar op Amazon/Ali/Ebay gaan zoeken in de hoop dat iemand nou net dat ene dingetje los verkoopt?

EDIT: Ik zit in Flevoland, maar ben bereid om best wat te rijden voor wat ik nodig heb. Maak ik er een dagje van of zo. 😄

I have a Raptor R 4x4 (not the Ultimate, sadly), and I'd like to install a Telemetry Expander 2.0 on it. However, I can't find the proper mount for it, as the one for the Slash 4x4 mounts to a different rear shock tower.

Who here has a Telemetry Expander on their Traxxas Raptor R 4X4 and knows of a way to mount it to the chassis?

Hey all, I have an '86 Honda Nighthawk CB450SC, and I can't seem to get all the fuel out of it. After about 125-130 miles I have to click it over to reserve, after which it'll take about 8 liters of fuel.

According to the interwebz it should hold about 13 liters of fuel, which sounds about right if I look at the physical size of the tank. I understand having a 2-3 liters of reserve, but a whole 5 liters of reserve fuel sounds like a lot. When the tank is in reserve-mode, there's still a lot of fuel splashing around in it... It just won't get picked up by the petcock or something....

What I'm thinking is that there's still fuel in the right 'lobe' of the tank, that won't reach the petcock as soon as the level drops below that of the part where the cutout for the frame is. Is there an internal crossover tube or something that might be plugged? And if so, how do I unplug that without taking the tank apart?

We took our Monkeys to the Eifel a week ago, and participated in the motorcycle parade lap of Motorrad Anlassen. This giant motorcycle event drew 46.000 visitors (!) and we were the only two Monkeys there. (We did see a couple of Groms!)
