Pain question

Since I’m new to this level of pain,
Is it normal at almost 5 weeks to be hit with white hot blinding pain from the thigh to the ankle? It lasts about 15 minutes and I can barely breathe or move. It feels like jackhammers on my bones and electric shocks in my nerves.

Disability question

I have fibro that is killing me slowly for 12 years now. I can’t sleep, can’t focus. Can’t keep a job. Can’t get a job right now because I can’t sit long, I can’t stand long at all. I can’t remember a damn thing. I have ADHD, severe anxiety, depression, degenerative disc disease, spondylitis, osteoarthritis all over. As a bonus, perimenopause.
Just living hurts. I’m 54 and have suffered enough. I can’t take it anymore. Do you think I’d qualify? I know nothing about the process.

What is this ice hurts not helps the knee bs

Since when does icing the knee hurt? This is day 3 of this new unusual occurrence. After about 15 min of icing I keep having dumb stabby pain in the patella on both sides. Knee still swollen most of the day despite icing and elevating like a motherfluffer on adhd meds.
What the flippin’ heck.
I still blame the nurse who made me stand up too soon after surgery for all of this unnecessary and ridiculous pain this time round. Grrrrrrr. I’m so over it. And the thigh zap-spasm-burning- stabby pain is back after a night of relief. Joy of joys.
Hear ye hear ye, the old Crankypants has reappeared.
Bleh. Blah.
Just call me Mrs. Squidward Tentacles.
Thank goodness for this place. I might just retain what’s left of my lost mind.

Stabbing pain in thigh

I’ve been having a horrible stabbing pain in my thigh that’s keeping me awake. It’s 9/10 pain that has me near tears. Also the same stabbing pain behind my knee in the left side. Hurts to even touch it. Has anyone else had this? What can help it? I’ve tried ice, heat, Tylenol, Flexeril. Nothing will touch the pain.

Casting the onscreen squad.

Who would you pick to play each character on screen? Someone once posted pics here I think, but the only one I felt was right was Hawkes. I forget the actor’s name but he had soft wavy hair and just felt right. I’ll include a pic of him.
I think Islington would be the hardest to cast.

What’s your night time routine?

What’s your mini’s bedtime routine and fave night time sleeping spot?
My girl lately has decided she wants to be tucked in under her cooling blanket, with her unicorn neck pillow, whilst laying on her old lady orthopedic memory foam bed. 🥰🥰

One month tomorrow

Icing and elevating are life. All scabs almost gone. Flex 120°. Ext. 0°.
Pic of my lovely surgeon, who I just adore.
Pain after walking/standing over an hour(i.e. chores and errands). And pain to touch the shin or knee, that’s worse in the evening and night.
Still trying to sleep in bed, maybe get 5 hours then go to the recliner.
IT band fiiiinally starting to relax.
Mosquitoes have started to bite me! They wouldn’t come near me the first three weeks after surgery, which I found both very nice and oddly bizarre because they’ve always loved me..
🤔 🤷🏻‍♀️

Is her body normal?

I’ve never noticed her sides sticking out like this. Is it normal? I’m paranoid since she got diagnosed with diabetes 2 months ago. When I feel it, it’s just her ribs. She’s 19 lbs-a normal weight for her height according to the vet.

Why can’t I sleep?

RTKR 3.5 weeks post op and I can’t lay on my side in bed with a pillow between my knees to sleep? “Surgical” knee on top of pillow. It’s excruciating pain. I would have thought at 3.5 weeks I’d be able to do that.
I’m so frustrated at this pain when trying to sleep. Is it normal?

3 weeks post op RTKR

Oh what a journey this knee is to the last. I’ve stopped comparing because I have a lot of work to do.
Pain is a pain in the a$$. I’m only on Tylenol now but sometimes it hits me like 9/10 and makes me just cry for stronger meds. Usually at 2AM. Lots of random swelling still making the knee stiff and flex not the best. I’m at 102°.
Shin pain and mild redness and pain to the touch is a new thing.

PT is going well, down to 2x a week through this month. Short arc quads are my fave rn and anything that stretches the dang IT band. Using the cane when I go outside of the house.
My dog is soooooo over me sleeping in the recliner and wants our bed lol but every time I try that I sweat through the dang sheets.
This sweating through the sheets every night is getting old. Why? WTH?!

Still funny to think I’m part metal now. I was thinking (ADHD brain), what if you had to walk through a metal detector every day for work(like at a courthouse), what craziness that would be).
Oh well, life goes on. Stay strong.

Numbness question

My mind must be numb because in 7 months (since my last one), I’ve forgotten how long the numbness takes to wear off.
I can’t remember at all from last time other than the little square that stays numb.
My right side (not counting the pocket that stays numb forever) and behind the knee are still numb and it’s driving me crazy.
Also, any tips to help with IT band tightness?

Internal stitches (w/pics)

I pulled 2 internal stitches(dissolvable) out because they were driving me mad with being itchy. It was closed up where I did it and I checked beforehand and it was allowed. It was creepy and cool to pull it out from inside 🥴🙄.
I’m still having itchiness (the drive you crazy kind) just below where my last stitch was that I pulled out. Do you think there are still internal stitches that haven’t dissolved inside yet, that could be making me itchy from the inside? I know this sounds crazy, but that’s how my brain works LOL
I’ve been inspecting and scratching little areas for relief and nothing!!

Pain at night

Whyyyyyy is the pain so bad at night? I’m exhausted and want sleep but my body is on fire from the inside out. Every fiber in me hurts. Sitting hurts, laying hurts, sheets hurt…
No one understands in the medical field. No one gives pain relief treatment, only says “exercise” or “lose weight,” or “it’s in your head, mind over matter.”
Fuuuuuuuuukc that.
I’m slowly dying here. 😩😩😩😩

2 weeks post op RTKR

Wow 2 weeks goes fast.
Just came back from PT and they cleared me to drive. 🙌🏻 He measured me at 122° flex from 90° last week so I’m happy.
Still have swelling from twisting my knee last Friday and my toes are half purple from leftover bruising, but overnight I turned a corner; I think I lost a lot of the fluid since I was peeing every dang half hour, but it’s a fine trade off.
My hamstring and IT band area are still tight and sore so that’s my main focus going forward. And naps. Nice little 15 minute naps.
This time I prehabbed the heck out of my quad at home and it’s so much stronger than the last knee!
Woohoo. Happy Wednesday y’all.

Breg compression sleeves

My Breg compression DVT sleeves just died.
Both of them! Just stopped working, even after 8 hours of charging.
Has this happened to anyone else?
I last used them in December prior to surgery 2 weeks ago. I just found out the warranty is only 6 months and it’s been 7 months now so I’m on the hook for a new set. 😩
