Anyone start their low dose aspirin before 12 weeks?

I’m pregnant with my second after a previous diagnosis of preeclampsia/HELLP at 36 weeks in my first pregnancy. I just had my first appointment at 9w3d yesterday and my doctor told me to go ahead and start 81mg of aspirin every night now. Obviously, I will follow my doctor’s instructions, but I’m surprised she recommended it so early since my understanding was people usually start it at 10-12 weeks.

This summer I learned I’m a better mom because I work

I work in education so I have the summers off. Which means for about 2.5 months out of the year, I get to live the life of a stay at home mom with my toddler. Let me tell you, I have learned that this will never be for me. I am so mind numbingly bored. I see videos on instagram of moms doing crafts and activities with their kids, while I’m just desperate to find anything for us to do out of the house and trying to use our limited screen time strategically. My patience for him has exhausted by the evening when my husband gets home and I find myself counting down the minutes until bedtime.

While being a working mom is hard, it’s so much more compatible with my personality. I value the time I get with him in the evenings and on weekends. I love the routine and I love knowing he’s at daycare having a great time and doing more than I could ever offer him.

I just wanted to throw this out here because I feel like I see so much from working moms who wish they were SAHMs, so on behalf of any other moms would don’t wish for that life for one second, I’m saying hey

Anyone else have a history of birth trauma? TW

If this is your first pregnancy, I recommend skipping this post for your own mental health.

I’m curious if anyone in here is on a second or later pregnancy and has a history of traumatic birth. I had preeclampsia and HELLP with my first 2.5 years ago. I’m 8 weeks today and have felt relatively positive going into this pregnancy despite my history. But, as I get closer to my first appointment next week, it’s really starting to hit me how nervous I am of a similar experience.

I don’t need to get into all the horrific details, but it involved an asleep c section and a month long NICU stay for my son. A lot of consideration and EMDR therapy went into the decision to try again, and I’m genuinely excited because this baby will hopefully complete our family, but it’s hard to only be excited now that I know what bad things can happen.

Early pregnancy symptoms are the same as last time…..bad sign?

I’m currently 7 weeks 5 days pregnant with my second after having severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome with my first a little over 2 years ago. So far, the early pregnancy symptoms have been almost identical as with my first (nausea without puking, extreme fatigue, food aversions). I know these are normal pregnancy symptoms, but curious if in people’s experiences their pregnancies were able to start the same but end differently (meaning without preeclampsia) in subsequent pregnancies.

2 year old’s separation anxiety at night

Our 2-year old has never been a very good sleeper. Didn’t sleep through the night until he was 1 and hasn’t slept through the night since he turned 2. Though, he’s NEVER had an issue going down for naps or bedtime. For the past few weeks, he’s been inconsolable with separation anxiety at bedtime. He screams and cries “my mommy, my mommy” absolutely hysterically from the second he goes to bed. I try to check on him now and then to assure him I’m still here, but ultimately, he ends up crying it out. My husband tries to go in and help and it’ll calm him down for a little, but just when it seems like we’ve done it, he wakes right back up screaming for Mommy.

I don’t know how much longer I can live with it. He wakes up in the middle of the night crying again. Normally, I’m so exhausted (we’re both working parents) that I just let him come into our bed (a bad habit we need to urgently break because I am now pregnant again).

I don’t know where this horrible separation anxiety came from. I really don’t know how to fix it but it’s getting to be too much.

Can someone help me understand mini pill/periods

I just went off the mini pill after 2 years and am now 6 weeks pregnant (I think I’m 6 weeks, allow me to explain).

While on the mini pill, I got very heavy periods every 25-28 days, similar to what I had when I was a teenager before I started the combination pill. On the combination pill, my periods were way lighter and milder than the mini pill. I take the somewhat regularity and heaviness of my periods on the mini pill to mean that I was likely one of the 50% of women that ovulated on it.

I stopped taking the mini pill on June 1st. I did take it the day before, though I did have sex that day. So, I know there was a small chance I could’ve become pregnant. However, I got my usual period on June 6, a day earlier than my tracking app expected. Based on my estimates, I got pregnant on about Day 8-10 of my cycle.

Does my estimate sound right or do you think there’s any chance I could’ve been becoming pregnant while having my usual period on 6/6? My doctor’s appointment isn’t until next month, so the anxiety of not knowing when I might be due is stressing me out.

Was anyone more scared the second time around?

I have a rambunctious and wonderful 2 year old boy after a pretty traumatic birth experience and NICU stay. After a lot of thought, therapy, and consultation with my doctor, we decided to try again. Well, my period is due tomorrow and I’m absolutely terrified of taking the test. I know I wanted a second baby, and I do, but for some reason I’m so nervous. Did anyone else experience this? Is this normal?

Also, if anyone wants to give me a pep talk to convince me to go pee on the stick, I’d take it!

Keeping calm with a very energetic 2 year old

My 2 year old boy is sweet and wonderful but incredibly high energy. He wakes up at 5:30AM and does not want to stop running around all day. Some days he goes to daycare, but the days he’s at home, I struggle to keep him occupied. It seems like all he wants to do is run around and face plant into stuff. On top of that; he doesn’t listen. He runs from me at the playground and sometimes plays very aggressively. I sometimes lose my patience and snap at him because it’s all just so overstimulating.

I’m not sure what to do or what I’m doing wrong. I try to keep him busy during the day, but there’s only so much I can do in our tiny house and with our tiny yard, and it’s too hot to go outside half the time.

I’m just not sure I’m cut out for this. We’re thinking about a second baby but I’m not sure how I’d ever handle it with what I’m dealing with right now.

Pre diabetes 2 years PP and planning for #2

Hi all, I’m hoping one of you has been in a similar situation and can provide some reassurance/guidance.

I had severe preeclampsia/HELLP at 36 weeks with my first who is now a little over 2. At my last OBGYN appointment, I told her that we were ready to try for another baby and she was very encouraging and supportive. Well, a day after that appointment, I got my bloodwork back and learned I’m prediabetic with an A1C of 5.8. I’ve never had high A1C, though I do have some familial risk factors outside preeclampsia. Now, I’m devastated because I was so excited and confident in trying for another baby, and now all of that has been squashed by this result. I feel like I’m just signing myself up for another round of preeclampsia with some possible GD on the side.

I already stopped my mini pill so it might be too late, but I’m really trying to buckle down on diet and exercise while embarking on my TTC journey. But, I’m wondering if (provided I’m not already pregnant) I should just put the whole thing on hold, which would be devastating.

Elevated A1C and TTC

I’m hoping someone can talk me down from this spiral, as my doctor hasn’t answered my messages yet after I received my lab results.

I had routine bloodwork done yesterday and it showed my A1C was at 5.8. Everything else looked great, I’d even significantly brought down my cholesterol after taking a statin for the last year.

However, this unsettling results coincides with my deciding to try to get pregnant. For some context, I had preeclampsia and HELLP in my first pregnancy 2 years ago. Now I’ve spent the whole day devastated because I feel like my ability to get pregnant has been stolen from me because of some bad habits.

Has anyone been through something similar? Can anyone hold my anxiety over while I wait for the doctor to get back to me?

Communities of young families?

We’ve lived in Balt Co most of our lives. 30s married heterosexual couple with little kids. Liberal minded but do like a more rural feel as far as where we live with access to amenities the city has to offer (ideally within 30 minutes of downtown)

We’re looking to upgrade our home in the next few years and aren’t sure where we might look for a village. We’d like a nice cul de sac of young like-minded families to build community with. Maybe local events and activities. Anyone of a similar background have a community that they love?

We’ve considered moving completely out of area, but aren’t sure if the grass is in fact greener or if we’re just missing something great under our nose

Old dog up all night

I’m not sure what to do. For the past 3 weeks, our almost 13 year old boxer pit has been keeping us up all night. All he does is scratch at walls, pace, dig at the floor, etc. He has arthritis and anxiety and has been medicated for both for years. Once this started, our vet prescribed us an additional pain med and trazodone. Nothing has worked. Once my husband and I get up to get ready for work, he’s fine, albeit still an old dog. We feel bad euthanizing simply because we’re exhausted and need sleep, but we obviously cannot live like this being up every hour for the long term. We also have a 2 year old son that occasionally wakes up in the night.

Has anyone done anything environmental or routine wise to help with this when medication has failed?

I’m glad people called her out in the comments but she still doesn’t seem to get it. She’s lucky not to have experienced PPD or PPA. She clearly doesn’t understand how soul crushing and debilitating those things are.
