Modding my GMMK 2: When shipping delays lead to one annoying ping

We’ve all been there—you order parts for a dream build, and international shipping turns a one-week delivery into a test of patience.

I’m on a mission to fully mod my Glorious GMMK 2. My ultimate plan is:

  • EQUALZ C3 PCB V3 screw-in stabilizers
  • 3-layer tape mod
  • PORON switch dampener foam
  • Glorious Aura Black PBT keycaps (swapping out the stock ABS)

Because screw-in stabilizers are stuck in transit, I got impatient and decided to work with what I had. I threw on the PBT caps and tuned the stock plate-mount stabilizers (which actually come pretty well factory-lubed from Glorious but still worst stabilizers i ever used ).

The Result: Surprisingly decent! The PBT caps gave it a much deeper sound, and most keys felt tight and snappy.

Except for the Backspace key.

It has a fierce, metallic ping. I tried everything to fix it. I even swapped the backspace stabilizer housings with the Enter key, and here is the crazy part: the ping vanished on the other key, but a new stabilizer on Backspace still pings. The stab itself isn't broken—the ping only happens in the backspace slot.

I’m convinced it’s a plate-resonance issue where the stabilizer housing is vibrating against the aluminum plate.

Luckily, I have stabilizer pads/stickers coming in that delayed shipment. I’m hoping putting a dampening sticker under the housing kills that metal-on-plastic vibration. Until then, Phase 1 is a win, but that one key is testing my sanity.

Anyone else run into a single-key resonance issue on the GMMK 2? How did you fix it?

I’m on the hunt for silent switches

Hi all ,

I’m on the hunt for silent switches to add to my collection. I’m particularly interested in collecting switches that I like. I need advice on which silent switches I should get next. I plan to use them for testing for a week or two. It’s important to me that they are good quality, not mushy, and not loud at all. Please help me out. If possible mention as much as you can based on your experience.

options i have :

1- HMX Taro Silent

2-AkkoFairy Switch

3-HMX Blackberry

Thanks in advance!

Finally diving down the custom keyboard rabbit hole

Finally diving down the custom keyboard rabbit hole. 🕳️ Just picked up a pack of Akko Creamy Yellow U1s for my first switch upgrade! Akko absolutely nailed the POM material on these—the factory lube job looks clean and they feel incredibly smooth right out of the box. Time to mod!

I’m genuinely torn between returning my K1 Pro and get K98 Pro

Gravastar released Mercury K98 Pro for Pre-Order it's Amazing for unchnitly they released it after i purchased my K1 pro :(

it has many new features which was there in K1 Pro

Layout: Optimized 98% Layout (98 Keys + Multifunction Control Knob)
Display Panel: 1.65" TFT Color Display Dashboard (142*428 OPX Resolution)
Polling Rate: Dual 8K Polling Rate

also it has bluetooth : 5.4

The only unfortunate aspect is that they announced it only after I had already purchased my K1 Pro, which I genuinely enjoy and love. However, the small screen and 98% Layout are quite appealing. Besides that, the Bluetooth 5.4 and 8K polling rate won’t significantly impact me, especially since I’m not a gamer.

I’m genuinely torn between returning my K1 Pro and getting this one instead but getting this one will be expensive the deference almost 75 USD , and i think in my location there will be additional charges because it's new for sure .

Preferring mechanical switches over HR and TMR.

I’ve always preferred mechanical switches over HE or TMR switches. I’m curious if this preference is a bad thing or if I’m missing out on anything by not liking HE or TMR switches. I understand it may seem silly, but I’m genuinely interested in knowing if there’s a significant difference, especially considering the advancements in HE switches and the availability of wireless HE keyboards.
