Last Boss Problems

Hi,

I ve got problems with Renoir... I had no problems with Paintress or the other Renoir, even after he let Verso disappear, but I struggled majorly against Creation and cant beat the second phase of Renoir for the life of it. He simply uses some AoE and if I once fail to dodge it, I m done.

I went blind up to this point, but now I m majorly frustrated, as this finale ruined my whole fun I had so far with the game.

I m with Maelle, Verso and Lune on Lv 49, weapons all 18. I added the no cap picto to everyone, Lune is the healer with the "less damage, but no heals" picto. Maelle uses the curator weapon.

Am I supposed to level up before that? the optional content like the Sirene sight of exp 46 was also way too hard...

Dont get me wrong, I beat Dark Souls 1-3 and Bloodborne, but I hoped this was a game I could just play blind without getting frustrated...

What do you propose? Just leveling more? (and dont git gud me)

thx

Push Fighter

Hi,

for an upcoming campaign (only official 5.5 e stuff, no multiclassing, lv 4) I d like to build a strong and sturdy Battlemaster Fighter that specializes in Pushing enemies around, into each other, off cliffs etc.

I d play a Warforged due to RP reasons and for added defense, 17 STR, 16 CON and I d take the Shifting Combatant feat for 18 STR (only unofficial content allowed) to get even better defense and some minor payoff from pushing. To push I d use a Warhammer and I d have a shield for even better defense.

Maneuvers d be Pushing Attack for even more mileage and Lunging Attack for mobility.

Do you think such a build could work and be fun mechanically (I guess Goliath d be the better choice)?

Which Origin Feats (Tough?) and Feats on 6 and 8 (Shield Master? Mage Slayer?) should I take? and can you recommend other weapons and maneuvers to use alongside the war hammer?

Druidic Focus on Ranger

Hi,

to not get it wrong:

If a Ranger gets Shillelagh via Druidic Warrior Fighting Style, he can cast it while holding the staff and a shield (without Warcaster) as the (wooden) staff can be his Druidic Focus, right?

But he could not cast Poison Spray this way as it lacks a M component, neither could he cast Witch Bolt from Wizard Initiate as it has a M component, but is not a Ranger spell he could cast via the Focus.

Am I getting these correct for 5.5? (He is not obe of those 4 armed spelljammer beetles)

Witch Bolt or Sacred Flame?

Hi,

I build a human Eldritch Knight with the Druid Initiate background to get Shillelagh and Warcaster at Level 4.

He protects his allies by proning opponents with his staff and having the protection fighting style with a shield. We start at 3 and my plan is to take Fey Touched with Bless at Level 6 to support my allies even more. Until then I use Faerie Fire from my Initiate Feat, changing it to Healing Word once I ve got Bless. For ranged I ve got Firebolt.

Yet I love to have something to do with my Bonus Action. The first one is Shillelagh and then maybe 1-2 Second Winds, but I fear thats it.

I had 2 ideas: One was using Witch Bolt via the second feat which gives a good bonus action, yet clashes with Faerie Fire (I dont want to take regular spell slots for it to have more casts of shield)... the other is to use my second origin Feat to get Starfire Spark to have some casts of Sacred Flame as Bonus Action (and some nice magic defense).

What d you take? Or is there an even better solution (no multiclassing, no legacy content, only official 5 5 e including Unleashed Arcana) to get useful Bonus Actions early (I know I could get like Telekinetic at 8 or 6 but that is too late).

Easiest Strong Synthesis

Hi,

I just started out and want to go blind mostly (played Joker 1+2). Yet as I know in these kinds of games, going blind often means making hard to salvage mistakes (like synthesising away the early Metal Slime).

So I want to have ONE Monster where I follow a recipe from online - one I can always rely on as it either heals super well or hits really hard and can still carry a team of random misfits if I should screw the rest of the team up. It does not hurt if it looks funny or cute - in joker 2 it was Shogum for me. (i d prefer something different this time)

What d be your suggestion for that one Monster that can be made quite easily and maybe can even grow into something even greater?

When to synthesize?

Hi,

I played Joker 1+2, but never really thought about this:

When should you synthesize a monster? When it is maxed out - or immediately (at lv 10-12)?

I dont want to make mistakes, yet I dont want to grind forever, so I search for the most effective method.

Fun class to protect others

Hi,

I only ever played 5e and start playing a 5.5e version of spelljammer soon.

In 5e i loved playing melee Armorer to protect my friends from harm due to the disadvantage the gauntlets impose.

Now two coplayers will be Warlock and Stars Druid so I guess, someone who can protect well d be useful again.

I dont want to be Armorer again, so what d be a fun class (all official 5.5e content) to provide this role?

Banneret seems to go in that direction, but feels little lackluster. Paladin has its aura later but multiclassing is not allowed, so hexadin wont work. Healing from Cleric got better I heard. Barbarian of the World Tree?

I d still be happy to do sonething useful with my bonus action and be not completely useless outside of combat!

I d be happy for some ideas, THX!

EDIT: The DM only allows the native 5.5 stuff, none from earlier.

Victor Mancha

Hi,

[[Victor Mancha, Runaway]] exiles a card that can be played later. Where do they go afterwards? (my thought was graveyard as they often say "put in exile instead")

Does that mean most of the [[Archaeomancer]] flicker combos also work with Victor? (like [[Ghostly Flicker]] and [[Peregrine Drake]])

This Town ain't big enough

Hi,

I ve got a Grizzly Bears and 2 untapped lands. My oppenent has his commander and a llanowar elves. If I cast [[This Town ain't big enough]] by tapping my two lands to target my Bears and the commander and they use [[Deflecting Swat]] to change the targets to the Commander and Llanowar Elves - what will happen? (concerning the fact that the instant only costs 2 if it targets one on my creatures)

And how will the situation change if I ve still got more untapped lands to pay 5 in total?

Is Dimir Azula a good commander?

Hi,

I just built [[Zuko Conflicted]] and to complete the picture, I thought of also building [[Azula, Cunning Usurper]].

In a way she has got card advantage, ramp and interaction. Obviously she needs to be accompanied by some grave hate/ targeted removal cards to exile the cards you do not want to get with her ability. Apart from that I guess she is a pretty standard blink commander with flicker and Fake Death effects.

Now I ve got 2 questions concerning her:

  • Is there a way to break her?
  • DO you think that she will be a good commander - in a way that she can be successful in lower B3, but also that people do not overly hate to play against her.

Best mass copy Commander

Hi,

I love effects like [[Mirrorweave]], [[Naga Fleshcrafter]] or even [[Moonlit Meditation]], turning lots of cards into other cards, benefitting from exponential effects - both for value AND as a overrun in blue.

I always wanted to build a deck around that theme, yet I m not sure, which commander should pilot it and how to approach the matter: like having lots of small tokens and turn them into other stuff or rather being ok eith only 3-4 creatures turned into one impactful creature?

I know there is [[Loki, Lord of Misrule]] and Esix which have this effect, but I dont like him as commander because then everyone knows what you are planning (and he is slow too). Is [[Sakashima of a thousand faces]] the easy solution due to him negating the legendary rule?

So TLDR;

For a deck around these mass transform effects (NOT simply clones), what d be the perfect commander to pilot it and how to approach such a deck?

Lifegain in Rakdos?

Hi,

I built this [[Zuko Conflicted]] deck with a simple idea, similar to the old Radha idea:

- Turn 2 Zuko

- Turn 3 Ramp

- Turn 4 something big like [[Combustible Gearhulk]]

Zuko delivers mana for turn 3 and lets me draw a card. after that, you want to get rid of him, I use either sacc outlets like [[Fire Lord Ozai]] or Sneak cards like [[Shredders Technique]]. The game is then ended via a big spell like [[Insurrection]] or extra combat.

So it is mostly goodstuff, I like it a lot, but Zuko draining for 8 is not to be neglected. [[Noxious Gearhulk]] and [[Metamorphosis Fanatic]] give HP back, but are there other good lifegain cards I could use here, that still have their own purpose outside of gaining life? I m not a big fan of Gary here. And I dont have enough mana for exsanguinate I m affraid.

So TLDR;

In a Rakdos goodstuff deck, what are great cards to get a little passive lifegain, while still having their own use apart from lifegain in the deck (like Noxious Gearhulk as Interaction)?

Best Malakir Rebirth Commander

Hi,

I love effects like [[Malakir rebirth]] or [[Fake your own death]] - they are cheap, the are good protection and with a sacc outlet they are basically flicker in black.

And there are lots of effects like that, either instants or some enchantments.

But what is a fun (and maybe unique) commander to build with lots of these effects?

i know [[Black cat]] of spider man is cool. Kokusho and his brother are pretty good too. Kardur is very nasty.

if [[Gilgamesh, Master at Arms]] attacks while wearing [[Lightning greaves]] and reveals an equipment with his effect - can I equip the said equpiment to him via his reflexive ability or can he not be equipped due to him having shroud?

Better card draw for Jeskai

Hi,

I built this Sonic deck around mainly flash creatures and obviously cards with haste. The idea is to pump my army with Sonic(s) and accelerate everything by damaging my own creatures for treasures (with [[Pyrohemia]] and alike). Also the deck runs lots of protection so my cards survive blocking/being blocked and Sonic can last longer.

My problem in the last 2 games was majorly running out of gas... and since I m in blue, I did not think that d be the case. I run all my old reliables like [[Faerie Mastermind]], [[Archivist of Oghma]] and [[Ghostly Pilferer]], stuff like [[your temple is under attack]] which doubles as protection but also [[Alms collector]] or [[Robber of the rich]] which might be a little clunky... also 2 draw effects on combat damage. In total 15 cards.

It is supposed to be higher bracket 2, so no game changers also no Esper Sentinel.

So what could/should I include to get a little more mileage out of my card advantage? I d prefer mana cheaper cards obviously. Also I need card advantage, not hand quality increase like Faithless Looting.

TLDR;

For my Sonic B2 flash/haste deck, what low mana card advantage pieces could you recommend?

Shaun + Hydro-Man

Hi,

if [[Shaun, Father of Synths]] makes a copy of [[Hydro-Man, Fluid Fellon]] and Shaun dies while the Hydro-Man-Synth is a Land, while he get exiled?

As I understand it, he is not a creature during that time and Synth seems to be a creature type, so he d still be a token, but no Synth. And Shaun is also not a delayed trigger either right? So I guess Hydro-Synth d survive

Best Insurrection Commander

Hi,

I ve always wanted to build a Deck that utilizes cards like [[Insurrection]] as win cons, as my opponents often have big scary boards and with these you just have the perfect UNO reverse card.

Yet it is a pretty mana intensive UNO card. So I guess when firing these I need to make sure that it does hurt and cannot be fiddle with...

So my question d be: What d be the perfect commander for these kind of win cons?

Dont get me wrong, I dont want to have a deck full of small threaten effects, but instead swimming along, doing stuff and then finish it at once with their own creatures.

I thought of [[Shadow the Hedgehog]] as split second guarantees no counterspells or such in reaction the the effect (also if I can sacc them, I draw one for each creature as they become haste-y). But I guess a Naya deck that includes cards like [[Spider Punk]] or [[Jennifers Walters]] could work too. Extra combats ofc guarantee that I get to win during the decisive turn (I guess SpiderPunk is impossible to build on its own, otherwise please let me know).

SO TLDR;

What do you think would be the best an/or funniest commander that utilizes mass threaten as a win con?

2cmc Synergy

Hi,

I just saw [[Vault 21: House Gambit]], and it rewards you for having lots of same cmc cards in your deck. Which brought a question to my mind: Are there other cards that synergize with having inly cards with 2cmc? There are some wipe who only take down big cards and cards like [[Sevinnes reclamation]], but is it enough to build around it? [[Will the wise]] and [[lucas the sharpshooter]] had a Deck with [[Lurrus]] afaik.

So is there a fun strategy in having only 2cmc cards in your deck?

THX

I know [[The fantastic four]] have a similar theme going, but 4cmc seems way harder to pull off

Power Pack + DualCards

Hi,

if I ve hit someone with [[Power Pack]], and have Shock and [[Hustle / Bustle]] in my grave.

How d their effect play out? Is hustle/Bustle one card and if I hit it I can cast either? Or are there basically 3 cards in my grave now that the random effect could hit? And a card with fuse, how d that behave, could I cast both?

THX

P.S. If I hit [[Demand Answers]], I d still have to discard, right?
