Could my bridge be adjusted?

Could my bridge be adjusted?

I got a good deal on a used Yamaha YEV-105 5-String Electric Violin, I’ve got it cleaned and installed some new strings, however I noticed the bridge wasn’t fitted right.

The G string and D string both feel too low for comfort, the G string in particular cuts quite noticeably into the bridge.

The bridge is quite expensive to replace since it also contains the pickup for the audio output. Would it be possible to make these adjustments without replacing the bridge? Or will I have to get a new one fitted.

Prepare for more incoming price hikes guys 😭

If you’re going to get something, go ahead and get it now, and then sit on it for a bit. The ride is only going to get rougher for this hobby

Infinity Blade PC port on the AYN Thor?

Has anyone been able to get the Infinity Blade I and II PC ports working on the AYN Thor? I don't actually own a Thor yet, but I think it'd be an awesome game to bring to the Thor's form factor.

My thought was that you could mirror the game on both screens, so you could use the bottom touchscreen for your attacks while watching the game on the top screen.

[Question] Safety of selling broken iPhone that can't be wiped?

I think I can get a good amount of money selling my broken iPhone online for parts, but I wanted to know how safe it would be, since I can't memory wipe it due to the phone's damage. I've since transferred my phone plan and number to a new iPhone, and I've set the phone to be wiped automatically through Find My iPhone, but that only works if it manages to connect to WiFi.

I think I broke my mobo

I decided to test one of my old GPU’s out in my current build to see if it still worked, and my PC failed to boot so I figured that the GPU was broken.

But then I realized in my carelessness removing my main GPU from my computer, the metal PCIE bracket had scraped against the motherboard around the audio codec, and bent a few capacitors.

I figured it was fine but now I fear it is not, since now even with my original GPU the PC always fails to boot, either on the VGA or CPU light (it always passes the RAM thank god).

Should I be turning on my PC in the first place? I worry my mobo could be damaging other components if I’m right about it being faulty. Do you guys agree it’s the mobo?

How to wipe broken iPhone to sell?

So, I'm in a bit of a conundrum here. I have a iPhone that's broken in a variety of ways that's made it hard for me to safely sell online for some cash. Some time ago, the device's charging port broke, which was fine since I could use wireless chargers. But recently, all at once, the phone's audio, screen, and internet failed. Thankfully, I was able to restore my data on a new iPhone.

I'd like to sell my old phone online, but I would like to wipe my personal data off of it first. I can't put it into recovery mode, since the USB port is broken, and I can't wipe it remotely through Find My iPhone, since it can't connect to internet. Am I left with an expensive, unsellable hunk of aluminum or is there a way for me to wipe it so that my personal data can't be recovered?

Is the 9070 XT more stable than the 7900 XTX?

Hello, I've been considering doing a sidegrade from my 7900 XTX to a 9070 XT for a variety of reasons (better thermal performance, improved raytracing, FSR 4 support, et cetera), but I think the main deciding factor will be how stable the new card is in comparison to the old one.

Whether my GPU is undervolted, overclocked, or kept at factory settings, my system will experience a driver timeout crash at least once a week (often more). I've looked it up online and apparently this is a common thread between 7900 XTX users, although no one can agree on the cause or the solution (honestly, most of the solutions seem like placebos to me).

Would anyone be able to chime in on whether or not the 9070 XT is more stable overall?

Any recommendations for gaming keyboards?

Despite playing most video games on controller, and not using my computer for much typing, I've gone through like 1 gaming keyboard a year for a while now. Each time, the switches start to skip and eventually stop working altogether. Sometimes it's related to frequent use, like the number keys for my password. But sometimes it's random. Like the "C" key on my most recent keyboard.

It's starting to get annoying. Off the top of my head, I've gone through a Ducky 1 2 Mini, a Roccat Vulcan, and a Razer Huntsman Mini (although tbf I got that one used). Probably some others I'm not remembering too.

I'm not trying to spend tons of money on some bespoke keyboard, but honestly at this point it might end up being cheaper for me in the long run. Do you guys have any recommendations for gaming keyboards? Preferably 100% layout, don't care about stuff like RGB.

[Sad Trope] Gay Moment at the End

Moments like this often happen at the end since the threat of cancellation is no longer a factor, and the reveal can be written out of the sequel if it’s too controversial.

Sheriff Blubbs and Deputy Derlin - Gravity Falls

Aloy and Seyka - Horizon: Forbidden West

Ruby and Sapphire - Steven Universe

Commander D’Aci and Wrobie Tice - Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

“Who wants this?” to “It’s the best thing to happen to the franchise”

Star Wars: Andor - it’s a spinoff to a spinoff, about a character that no one really cared about set in an oversaturated period in the Star Wars timeline. But it turned out to be an amazing show that added a lot to the depth of the Star Wars universe.

Better Call Saul - What could have been an easy cash grab on the part of Vince Gilligan, cashing in on the popularity of Saul Goodman and the recognizability of Breaking Bad, managed to surpass the original show in many ways.

Star Trek: Lower Decks - what many people assumed would be a Rick and Morty clone with a sardonic take on the Star Trek universe turned out to be a well-written and sincere love letter to the Star Trek franchise.

Transformers One - while previews led people to believe the movie would be a generic kids movie, Transformers One turned out to be a wonderful return to form to the animated medium for the Transformers franchise, exploring the tragic friendship of Optimus and Megatron.

This character artstyle in video games

There’s something so offputting about this character artstyle. It’s like every character is a young, anorexic supermodel with zero cheekbones, jowls, wrinkles, blemishes, or any other defining facial characteristics, and giant (often blue) eyes. It’s like every character is a slight variation of the same porcelain doll.

It’s worse when they’re in hyper realistic environments that just makes them seem more uncanny in comparison. In my opinion, the only games that pull off this look (at least in terms of the giant eyes) is the Bioshock franchise.

Megaprojects made to save humanity

Project: Hail Mary and the Blip-A (Project: Hail Mary): When the sun starts dimming due to an interstellar microbe, a United Nations task force led by Eva Stratt invests over a trillion dollars into a vessel capable of reaching a star system unaffected by the microbe, and into global terraforming to support the protect. The planet Erid constructs the Blip-A for the same purpose, and it takes the largest collaboration between Eridian scientists in history.

Operation: Zero Dawn (Horizon: Zero Dawn): After a self-replicating robotic swarm threatens to end all life on Earth, Elizabet Sobeck collects the world's greatest minds to create an artificial intelligence named GAIA that will terraform and reseed the Earth after all life goes extinct. A military campaign called Operation: Enduring Victory buys the project time, and gives the public false hope for their own survival.

Far Zenith (Horizon: Forbidden West): Created in tandem with Zero Dawn, Far Zenith is a project led by billionaire Osvald Daalgard. It intended to repurpose an abandoned interstellar spacecraft called the Odyssey, constructed to establish a colony on the planet Sirius, in order to preserve the human race using new terraforming tools developed by Operation: Zero Dawn. But secretly, the Odyssey will only accept the world's elite who are funding the project as a personal life raft.

Noah’s Ark (religious tradition): When God brings a flood to destroy the sinful on Earth, he instructs Noah and his people to create an ark capable of saving them, as well as a male and female of every animal species, in order to repopulate the Earth following the flood.
