Scenes or quotes that stuck with you as a kid?

I was a very anxious kid. I'm insomniac and I used to have these horrible nightmares when I was young, so I didn't like to watch any "scary stuff." But I guess the horror genre just called to me even back then, because my favorite show was Scooby-Doo and, as I'm sure you've guessed, I loved the Goosebumps books. I'll try to remember to post my collection later, since I'm not home rn!

Anyways, sorry for rambling. I'm curious to know if anyone else has a specific quote or a scene from the books that made a strong impression on you! Mine is definitely the quote above, from Welcome to Dead House, where Mr. Dawes says "Amanda, it doesn't hurt to die," I still recall this phrase from time to time because of how much the whole book unsettled me. I think this is one of the darkest Goosebumps books and iirc even R. L. Stine has said he thought it was too scary for kids lol

Whatever happened to the 10th year anniversary video?

So, back in April 1 James asked us to submit videos tagged #10YearsOfDeadMeat for a special anniversary video they were going to release on April...and then never talked about it again? I went through the YT posts and the comments on that video and couldn't find a thing. Did I somehow miss a big announcement??

Which movie to watch with my family for my birthday today?

I selected a few of my favorite movies (excluding the ones I rewatched recently and also the ones my 11-year-old brother can't watch). I made sure to pick ones my parents wouldn't hate too much xD ended up with these 5 movies, but I can't decide which one to pick!

•Corpse Bride

•Hocus Pocus

•Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island

•Spirited Away

•Wolfwalkers

Thinking about coming back after a hiatus...

Hey y'all. So, I stopped playing Lioden back in January of this year. I had been playing obsessively since around July 2025, so I was still a relatively new player when I got severe burnout and went on hiatus.

The first lion pictured is Marjani, my current queen, while the second one is Mentha, my heir. I spent an ungodly amount of money to gene Mentha and planned to freeze him on my side account until Marjani was ready to retire.

Since I've been away for quite some time, I have no idea how the stud market may have changed during the last 6 months. I still adore Mentha's looks, and I don't really care about making a lot of money from studding, but I'm also worried about not being able to feed my lions after I'm back. I don't remember exactly how many lionesses I have in my pride rn, but it's not a small number.

I guess I wanted some advice or suggestions? I don't know what updates I've missed since I've been gone but I'm assuming there'll be new features. I also don't know which event is happening right now, and whether it would be better to wait until August or even longer before I come back.

Songs about the Autistic experience (kinda? songs abt feeling like/being non-human or Different)

Basically, I'm looking for songs similar to Changeling by Lydia the Bard. I also relate a lot to Abbey by Mitski so maybe something like that one too?

Doesn't have to be necessarily about autism/neurodivergency, just feelings of Otherness in general. Thanks in advance!

He's a fighter not a lover

So I'm leaving for a week-long trip to my grandparents' farm today on holiday, and I'm saying goodbye to my Orion. And the thing about my beloved son is, he gets uncomfortable when I'm sad. But he's never learned how to Comfort Human, so he decides the best course of action is to choose violence. He starts biting me when I get upset, and I don't mean little love bites, he's putting all of his 13lbs into it. Real "I'll give you something to cry about" energy.

Cancelled TV shows that live rent free in my mind

I seriously think experiencing this enough times gave me trust issues. There are some series that just stick with me, and when they're cancelled on a cliffhanger (which is what often happens), it's pretty much guaranteed they'll haunt me for years to come.

So I guess I wanted to know if anyone still thinks about any of these shows as much as I do. Don't take this as a recommendation list, unless you want to end up heartbroken like me 🤣

Zoo (2015-2017, ran for 3 seasons before ending on a devastating cliffhanger. This is probably the most niche show on the list but I adored it, and I follow up on some of the cast to this day.)

The Society (2019, cancelled after a single season. This show introduced me to Kathryn Newton, and she's now one of my favorite actresses! I think about the mystery of the plot often.)

First Kill (2022, also only ran for one season, because Netflix just couldn't stand to see a biracial wlw couple actually succeed and had to keep renewing slop instead.)

Santa Clarita Diet (2017-2019, ran for 3 seasons and seemed decently popular. I have no clue why this one was cancelled, but then again I could say the same for most of the shows here.)

Girl From Nowhere (2018-2021, and NO, Netflix, making a completely unrelated show and slapping the same name on top of it doesn't make it not cancelled. This one's really underrated.)

Kingdom (2019-2021, what's with zombie-related shows getting cancelled? This one had no business being so good tbh, it's one of my favorites in the zombie genre!)

Wolf Like Me (2022-2023, ok I lied, this might be the most niche show here. It hasn't been officially cancelled but...yeah, I wouldn't bet on it happening. I think about the S2 cliffhanger at least once a month.)

I'm sure I've watched a ton more series that were cancelled, like Mindhunter, but these are the ones that got tattooed on my brain and refuse to be removed.

Posso resumir essas histórias se for ajudar!

Does anyone else have very few Miis on their island still?

I've noticed that most people seem to have at least 30 Miis on their island, while others have already filled out the 70 Mii cap. That's kind of crazy to think about, because I've been expanding my island very, very slowly. I only really add new characters after I feel like the last Mii added has integrated well into the community and has enough relationships with other Miis.

So I'm curious if anyone else plays this way! Even though there's a lot of characters I want to add, I'm in no rush to do so.

My first playthrough started out as a Vampire-themed island, with characters that are either vampires themselves or humans from vampire media. That was fun for the first 10 Miis, then I realized I definitely wanted to expand to other characters that aren't related to vampires at all.

These are all my current residents if anyone is curious! (the scratched out one is a child that was born on the island so she's not an existing character)

From left to right: Count Orlok (Nosferatu); Bonehilda (The Sims); Heather Chandler (Heathers); Veronica Sawyer (Heathers); Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer); Count Dracula (Dracula); Misery Lark (Bride); Lowe Moreland (Bride); Carmilla Karnstein (Carmilla); Laura Hollis (Carmilla); Lestat de Lioncourt (Interview with the Vampire); Louis de Pointe du Lac (Interview with the Vampire); Spike (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

I made Heather Chandler and Veronica in Tomodachi Life!

I'm really proud of how they turned out, especially the outfits! I wish I'd found a better bow/scrunchie for Heather but that one is kinda funny so I'll leave it for now. Has anyone else made Heathers characters in Tomodachi? I'd love to see them!

Where to start if you want to make a plushie?

I had no idea this sub existed! So long story short, I want to start learning how to make my own plushies, because I love stuffed animals but my country just doesn't have a big market for it so I have to buy online, where the cost translated into my currency + shipping is something I can't justify spending on a plushie.

I'm specifically thinking about making dinosaurs. They're a special interest of mine and I've wanted a feathered raptor plushie since forever, which is juust a little too niche for there to be any sewing tutorials readily available for it.

So where should I start? Any YouTube channels I should look into? What would be the best materials to use? My grandma and mom are both well-versed in sewing and have sewing machines available, and they would be happy to teach me how to use them, so I got that part covered!

So I don't feel anxious about driving alone 🩷

This is Unnamed Pig. I got them while on a trip to New York City for my 15th birthday (a big deal where I'm from), so that was almost a decade ago now. My parents weren't thrilled about it since we didn't know how we would bring Unnamed Pig home on the plane back to Brazil, but iirc they counted as a carry-on so I got to snuggle on the flight back.

Unnamed Pig is absolutely great for cuddling at night, and they had a VIP spot on my bed for many years. But after I got my cat 5 years ago I ended up having to hide all my stuffed animals in the wardrobe because he has a high prey drive and unfortunately plays too rough with the plushies :(

I miss having my plushies around, but I hadn't thought about it much until today a light bulb appeared above my head: I don't like driving by myself, it makes me nervous, even though I did it during college and now everyday for work. Unnamed Pig is my biggest plushie so they're not exactly suitable for outings on foot...but why let them waste away in my wardrobe when they could be keeping me company elsewhere?

So yeah, I have a giant pig riding shotgun now. I do give rides to other people sometimes but I can just move them (the pig, not the person) into the backseat for a little bit.

I felt weird giving Unnamed Pig a name back then since they're just the pig from Moana, which is named Pua, but I also don't like using the 'canon' name. So I need ideas!

It feels relevant to mention that my car has a name. I call it "Wolf Girl Summer"

Where might one look for sewing patterns?

I'll keep it vague bc of the rules but I'm looking for a sewing pattern that is behind a paywall. I have found a few resources to download files from this specific site, but they all say you need to already be subscribed to the paywalled site to download the files you want which makes them pretty redundant in this case.

I'm no stranger to piracy, it's just that I'm usually going for movies or games, never had to look for a sewing pattern before. I tried finding groups on Telegram since it's helped me with 3D printer files in the past but couldn't find any for sewing

Dinosaur plushie that ships to my country and isn't insanely expensive?

This is my first time posting here so apologies for any mistakes. I've always adored stuffed animals, I have kept a lot of my childhood plushies and they bring me a lot of comfort. I'm also autistic, and I LOVE dinosaurs (very original of me, I know).

My favorite dinos are Dromaeosaurids, AKA raptors. Utahraptor is my beloved but I love all of them rly, Velociraptors, Microraptors, Deinonychus, you name it.

So a few months ago I got it in my head that I wanted a raptor stuffed animal. The only requirements I had was that it was a feathered one, not the ugly naked Jurassic Park raptors.

I'm from Brazil, and we don't rly have a plushie market, so I looked abroad. I even asked in a couple dinosaur-related subreddits, but no luck. Most of the places I found don't ship to my country, and also there's just...no factory made accurate dinosaur stuffed animals I guess?? They all seem to be handmade which, hey, I 100% support, but the currency is the issue - Brazilian Reais, the local currency, is absurdly devalued. So the fact that these plushies would already be expensive to the average person paying in dollars or euros is made like 5x worse for me.

I saw a really awesome Microraptor plushie in this sub today, and I looked up their site with no expectations...only to find that they do ship worldwide. That's already half the issue solved! Buuut then there's the cost. I've attached some images of what I mean.

It would cost me aprox 750 Brazilian reais to buy this plushie. That is over half my monthly paycheck. I could save up for it, I think, if they don't get sold out. But the logical part of my brain just can't justify spending this much on a stuffed animal, even though I REALLY want it.

So, before I commit and end up getting too invested in this particular plushie, I thought I'd ask here! If you have any recommendations at all of places where I could find a feathered raptor plush, and they ship to Brazil, let me know!!

What the hell do I even say? I feel like I just had a religious experience.

I'm thrilled, I'm depressed, I'm pondering, I'm yearning. I'm hungry for something that I can't name. I'm missing something I've never known.

I went into this book mostly blind. I only knew the most basic synopsis, and that it was vaguely inspired by Carmilla. I love Carmilla and all its variations, so that was enough for me. I was expecting a good, but typical, story about repressed desires. But this book is so much more than that.

I'll keep this as spoiler-free as possible, but I can say this: if you pick up this book looking for a love story, you're going to be disappointed. Hungerstone isn't about love, it's about desire. It's about the horror of being a woman. It's about going through your whole life suppressing everything that makes you a person, an oppression so strong that by the time you realize what's happening, you've been nothing but a walking corpse your entire life.

I've related to plenty of characters in media during my life. But I think this might be the first time I've understood a character so profoundly, even though Lenore's life is absolutely nothing like my own. In fact, were we to meet, I don't think I would like her very much at all. And yet I feel seen, somehow? It's like this book has unlocked something in me that I always knew existed but never had the words to verbalize.

I can't help but be reminded of the lyrics in Abbey, by Mitski, a song I've always identified with though I couldn't understand exactly why. "I am hungry. I have been hungry. I was born hungry. What do I need?"

Sorry, I know this post hasn't been much about Hungerstone at all, but I don't think I can even find the words to review it properly. Anything I say will pale in comparison to the experience of reading this book. I just can't recommend it enough.

Hello all! I just finished my yearly reading of Carmilla last night, and I've been thinking about how I'd tear out my own liver to have a big-budget, faithful adaptation of the book made.

I realized I don't actually have ideas for what my ideal cast or even crew would be like, except for the fact I'd want Diablo Cody to write it. I mean, can you imagine?? The absolute genius who gave us Jennifer's Body and Lisa Frankenstein (two very queer-coded movies)??? I would die a happy woman, I really would.

But alas, I'm terrible with names, and I really don't know a lot of directors at all, or even actresses that would be young enough to play the main roles.

I think Robert Eggers totally nailed the gothic atmosphere in his Nosferatu adaptation, and sure, Guillermo del Toro could probably do something really special with the visuals too, but honestly? This would absolutely rule with a female director as well as a writer. Can you even comprehend the things someone like Coralie Fargeat or Karyn Kusama could do with the imagery in Carmilla?!

So I guess my main questions would be about the cast after all. Like I said, I would want them to look young enough to play an 18/20 year old, and that rules out most of the actresses I do know and love. So like, I think Camila Mendes would look great as Carmilla for example, but she's 31 and besides, I think it would be really cool to cast unknown or upcoming young actresses in something like this!

No reason for the other roles to not be filled by beloved actors though, like the governesses and Laura's father, Carmilla's mother, etc. This could have some really cool cameos even. Like, get Natasha Lyonne and Uma Thurman to play Madame Perrodon and Mademoiselle De Lafontaine or something, that would be so fun!

I'm really curious to see what you all think 👀
