I know that ferritin is an acute phase reactant and will elevate with inflammation.
My question is would a test several days before getting symptoms of a cold be elevated or would that tend to happen after symptoms start?

Hey all. East coast expert skier here. In the market for a new pair of skis.
Demoed the enforcer 99 last year and like them. I have been looking at the 99 and 94s off season and can find them around $550.
I did just come across a new pair of 2025 enforcer 89s for $350 and am wondering how big a difference there is between the lot?
I do like skiing a bit in the trees etc along with traditional easy conditions.
I did like the little bit of float when it snowed I had in a set of blaze 94s.

Hey all, I noticed a buzzing coming from the rear of my truck a year or two ago. It would happen intermittently for 10-20 seconds after shutting the truck off. It got more frequent and started lasting for minutes. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the shock under warranty.
Today it started happening again, seemingly from the shock that they replaced. I am now out of warranty. Any chance they swap out the once they replaced a year or so ago or am I going to pay for this one?

Hi all. I have yellow jackets in my bedroom wall. There are cracks between an exterior chimney and the wall that they are getting into.
I drilled four holes tonight and inserted a borescope to hone in on where the most activity was. Did find something that looked like a papery hive. I then sprayed “ecosmart” wasp killer in to the active holes hoping some would die and the rest may go out through the chimney cracks.
I was trying to stay away from raid or more abrasive products because this wall is right next to our bed and would prefer not to have pesticides hanging out there forever.
Does this seem like an effective approach?

was a volunteer firefighter for 10 years.

I have since been off the department for 8 years and have been actively avoiding PfAS.

Wondering if,like smoking, the likelihood of cancer and other negative risks go down the longer you spend away from PfAS exposure or is the damage already done and I’m just preventing more?

Hey there, went to work today and they had me pulling the rocks out of first before they seed it for grass. About an hour in I had found several pieces or shards of pipe with what looks to be fibrous material in it. Asked the owner if they had an asbestos pipe removed and they mentioned that they believe that’s what the plumber said it was.
I was definitely stirring up dust in that pile for an hour or so on my hands and knees. Is this a significant exposure?
No idea how much dust and friable material comes from destroyed pipe/ what percentages pipe tends to be.

Hey there- was charging boat batteries in my basement and noticed puddles under both of them- they have probably been there for a week on the concrete floor. Just sprinkled baking soda over all of it and it fizzed. Wondering if the fumes from it sitting there or from neutralizing are harmful or would have leached up into the living space above. thanks.
