Found an engorged tick on our dog while wearing her seresto collar. Should I be concerned the collar is defective? Or are exceptions expected?

First time poster here! I wanted to know if anyone else has been in this situation.

We've been using seresto collars for our dogs for years now, and just recently replaced them for the usual 8 month cycle. It's been a few weeks since they've had the new ones on, but today we discovered an engorged tick on one of them.

We're not entirely sure how long it might have been on her, but we're concerned since we were under the impression that the collar was to kill off a tick through contact before it can latch on. But after removal the tick was still alive and well (prior to burning 🔥)

Is it possible the collar we had on her is defective? Or is this something that just has a rare chance of happening?

EDIT: Thanks for all the replies everyone! I'm the dogs' uncle and was posting this to help assuage my sisters worries. I appreciate all the affirmations that the collar was not going to offer 100% protection.

We aren't able to do the ingestibles as many people kindly suggested due to other health concerns unfortunately. But we'll see our options when we can see the Vet and double check to make sure she's disease free (she has gets the annual shots, but better safe than sorry). Really grateful to all the folks who chimed in to help!

Heidemarie Battle Ready pose without background for those who want it

Saw some people really wanting this without the gameplay elements. So went out of my way to figure out or to extract it from the game files and export it as a gif/png.

It's not perfect because I am a noob with this sort of thing. But hope it is good enough for those who wanted it!

NOTE: It's slightly cut off at the bottom, but this is to hide the fact that she has nothing past her knees lol. All the "battle ready" poses (the character images that pop up when you select a card) don't have legs fully drawn in general.

I know it's a little early to be talking about faction mechanics at this stage. Since we've yet to see any baseline campaign gameplay much less any faction spotlights. But this has just been something that's been nagging at my mind, so would like to hear some others' thoughts on it.

The idea of Greenskins looting, breaking apart, and jury rigging the works of other factions is a thing across all Warhammer settings. And we have a nod to that with things like the scrap mechanic in Total War Warhammer. But in 40k the Orks go a bit farther and just outright snatch Imperial vehicles and make them more "orky." Looting other faction's vehicles, particularly those of the Guard, is kind of an iconic part of the Ork flavor (despite actual unit/model representation of such waxing and waning over the editions). But in the context of Total War I think there's a lot of fun possibilities there (if GW is lenient of course).

I just get reminded about how memorable it was in Shogun 2 boarding and taking the Black Ship for your own. And was thinking how cool it would be playing as an Ork faction, spotting a Stormlord or something, and doing your best to disable rather than destroy the vehicle so that you can loot it and make it a proper Ork dakka engine. I don't think it would be too out there for CA to make Ork variants of the various Imperial Guard vehicles. But it would probably be nice as a selection of campaign only units or possibly a part of a larger "Mek Workshop" mechanic of sorts given the apparent focus on customization in this game.

Obviously it's a little hard to speculate on with how few details we have at the moment. But I would really love to hear what more hardcore Ork fans might go about how best to show off this element of Orky lore.

I'm one of those silly sorts who pay the monthly subscription service to access the Warhammer Vault. Mostly to read the backcatalog of White Dwarfs and other books I didn't have the money/space to buy at the time.

They've been uploading the ones from 2024 and while reading through White Dwarf 503 I was a bit shocked to run into this lad's name on page 81. It was easy to miss but it is cool to see they did lay some groundwork for him prior to his official reveal all those months back.

Makes me wonder what other named characters that GW plans to release models of that are hidden away in obscure corners like this? The Iron Kahl that was mentioned in our 10th edition Codex is an obvious one. But who knows how many random quotes or nods were inserted into a White Dwarf that might hint towards more weirdos for our faction?
