No, I am serious. Everyone keeps making "What if class 78 where the remnants of despair!?!" But no one had done a remnant Junko. She is part of the class too you know. You could make...idk Chiaki the Ultimate Despair! Same thing with the whole "x is the mastermind!" Thing. You do realize that the logical protagonist in a Mastermind Makoto AU is Junko right? Not Kyoko.

Personally my favorite will always be FPS (Finishing Photo Shootout), I know that people tend to like DS (Departing Sins) and 3VMRU(Murderous ReUnion) but I always will love the ambience the first one has. Also to people who like UVP(Ultimate Vengeful Partners), why? I know it has some good parts (Mikan character development, Natsumi's arc) but how can you say it's your favorite? I love to hear it!

Like I can get their dynamic (the shy detective and the compulsive liar) but come on, there has to be some other way to create conflict with Makoto that isn't just making him be homophobic! Seriously have you seen his interactions with Byakuya and Leon? Do you think this lucky pianist is remotely straight? Don't make me laugh. Maybe make it so he tries to separate them because he distrusts Celeste and later on accepts them both once he realizes that they actually love each other! There is no need to make Makoto a villain!

You were checking the blog like usual. There were a surprising amount of questions and responses, which was slightly shocking to you. You were confident it would not take off the ground. There were both serious and silly answers, all very predictable. Which is why a sudden life video was very…strange to appear, especially without a previous announcement. With mild anticipation, you click on the video, not really knowing what to expect.

The camera was angled oddly, seemingly hidden from view to the people there. You could only see two waists. “-I just… a-are we sure this is… possible? I know I’m supposed to trust you but…” A slightly feminine voice spoke, you recognize it immediately as the Former Ultimate Programmer. He seems… agitated.

“I… I believe in us. This has to work. Do you not trust me that much? I’m trying to help us!” The taller of the two spoke. You were shocked when you realized that the voice was of the so-called Ultimate “Hope”. Your attention is peaked as you realize that this might be the true side of the Foundation.

“I’m sorry but I really don’t think this is right… I-I mean, maybe that anon was… right? A-About this being kinda… difficult? I mean… these are global threats. Is… is hope really enough to go off? Shouldn’t we be more cautious?” You couldn't help but agree, how were they supposed to redeem those that were alongside the worst monsters in history?

“...We just need to take extra precautions, don’t we? I know we can do it. I know it’ll be hard, I know it might even require doing some… questionable things. Like… that program Ms. Gekkogahara, you, and a few others made before… everything happened.” A… program? What are they planning to do?

“B-But, we haven’t t-tested it properly! There could be some serious consequences to using it! I… I don’t wanna hurt anyone…” He finished with a barely audible whisper. ‘Surprising that such nice people still exist, I would have thought they would have crumbled by then.’ “You” think to yourself.

There’s a moment of silence.

“...You’re right. That’ll be a last resort. But we will find a way to save them, I don’t want anyone to be left behind. Even… them. I’ll… I’ll talk to Ms. Yukizome about some alternatives.” He turned away but wasn’t able to get very far before Chihiro stopped him. He is surprisingly strong, “you” note, maybe that biker started giving him training.

“W-Wait. I just wanted to say that… um… t-that…” He is visibly shaking as he hesitates. An amusing sight really, a leaf could blow him away with ease. “P-Please don’t hurt yourself! I-It’s… okay to fail. Y-You told me that once, didn’t you?” Makoto turns back to him. “I… I want you to follow that advice to… you are kinda our ambassador, after all…” He finishes. Makoto hasn't moved since he turned before. ‘Did the words finally stick?’ “you” dared to “hope”.

“...I appreciate the thought.” He turns to leave before Chihiro can say anything else. He sighs as he turns before finally noticing the camera “you” put there, with some help of course. “Eek! W-What?! Where did this come from?!” He shrieks before turning it off.

“You” laugh at his futile efforts to most likely erase what thousands have already watched. But it wasn't really “you”, was it? You were shocked to see the divisions in the seemingly unbreakable class that managed to defeat the Ultimate Despair. She however, was nearly doubling over laughing at her former classmates, all too glad to have created a rift between them.

Sure, it would most likely not amount to anything now, but she merely needs to try harder, and the whole rotten structure will come crashing down, Upupupu!

Miu (Junko x Kazuichi)

Junko was a paranoid person. You would think that, with her aloof and childish behavior she wouldn’t be, but being the Ultimate Analyst causes her to overanalyze everything and, in her despair filled mind, think of all possible defeats. One such scenario was the most common one for dictators across history: “What will be of my works after I die? Will it all be for nothing if my death comes sooner than I expected?” and Junko (despite her constant denial) is no different.

As her plan to start the Tragedy was nearing completion, she could only think of what IFs and as she did, it became clear to her that she needed a contingency plan. If she wanted to create a world of despair, she must also create heirs to her throne of bodies and death. Which of course means, she must put in some extra work with her most loyal followers.

She tried with all of them multiple times but the lucky person who got her knocked up was none other than Kazuichi Souda. Of course, once Miu was born Junko immediately gave her to Mikan and Hiyoko so she didn’t have to deal with it. She was 17 years old when she was pregnant, and the guilt of having her own creation being taken away was almost enough for it to overcome the despair she felt.

Almost.

Compared to canon, Miu is far more two faced and unstable. Ignoring the enormous elephant in the room, she has (technically speaking) 3 sets of parents. Junko and Soda, Mikan and Hiyoko, and Sayaka, Komaru, Toko and Syo. The last three are a consequence of all the kids born before the NWP being sent to the WOH and the previously mentioned trio being the protagonists of that.

She constantly tries to do anything to not act like her original mother because she is a “daughter abandoning bitch” but fails constantly since it’s in her very nature. Luckily K1-B0 helps her with it a lot later on. She is completely oblivious to the fact that his body is made by her biological father and that she has a very obvious crush on him.

Korekiyo (Mikan x Nagito)

Nagito, despite his best efforts, has failed repeatedly at every one of his goals since Junko “showed him his true purpose in this world”. Izuru started to get bored with him and to lose the opportunity to have his attention would be catastrophic to him, so he came up with a plan. Simply put, show that he can still be worth something by managing to birth someone!

And, luckily for him, Mikan is very easily riled up and she hates him enough to fall for his trick. Soon enough, a mere month after Junko announced her pregnancy, Mikan was pregnant too. Which (though she will never admit it) made her very, very happy since she could be more similar to her beloved! However because Komaeda’s attention was always on Izuru, Kiyo’s de facto “dad” would be the closest person to Mikan, which is Hiyoko.

Why her, you might ask? Well, despite their differences, Hiyoko and Mikan had always really enjoyed the feeling of each other's bodies. At first, Mikan was only interested due to her similarities to Junko but it evolved naturally from there.

Unfortunately for him, he still has plenty of similarities to his canon self. He suffers from schizophrenia, seeing another him almost always on a reflective surface. This “apparition” is his canon self, now obsessed with Miu since she is “sister” now.

He constantly tries to convince Kiyo to kill someone in her name, though he has failed. Kiyo also suffers from erotomania, believing that he is already in a committed relationship with Miu and thus doesn't need to prove his love. It's already pure, it's already untainted and beautiful.

What he refuses and constantly debates with the “apparition” is how much does this love extend. Miu is very, very aware of this but doesn’t realize how bad it actually is.

Himiko (Gundham x Mahiru)

With the Tragedy in full swing, both Mahiru and Gundham felt abandoned partially by the rest of the remnants. Sonia was busy mobilizing her nation for a suicidal crusade and when Kazuichi wasn’t busy building war machines, he was helping the “special surprise” Junko was preparing for her class.

With this abandonment and boredom, since mindless animals and lifeless photographs can only do so much, Gundham brought up their situation to Mahiru so they mutually agreed to some “stress relief”, which resulted in Mahiru getting pregnant.

Whatever cordiality they both had disappeared completely however after Gundham refuses to help Mahiru with the pregnancy, causing her to be the single most isolated remnant of them all, since she is very protective of her child. This results in Himiko developing a dependency on Mahiru, thus causing her to rely on her to tell her how to feel and how to act.

She also has narcolepsy so she still lacks much energy. She is generally more lonely as a consequence of Mahiru telling her to “trust no one”, Miu being the one exception of course. However, she does begin to open up once she meets Kaito since he truly believes in her magic. She has had a crush/rivalry with Kokichi since the second they met.

Tenko (Hiyoko x Mikan)

Around the same time, Hiyoko and Mikan began getting increasingly closer and more involved with each other's lives. Though Junko came out occasionally, she was typically cooped up planning something that she refuses to tell. So Hiyoko and Mikan only have each other.

And so, they got to “bonding”, imagining the other to be Junko, which led to Mikan, who is a total sub for Hiyoko, getting pregnant, thus giving Mikan another kid. Tenko was partially raised by Peko due to Mikan seeing incredible physical potential in her, with Peko becoming more active after both Mikan and Hiyoko start spiraling with Junko’s “death”.

Being raised by three very unstable women led to Tenko developing an extremely warped and biased view of the world. One that puts girls at the center of the universe, thus her hatred of men, further worsened by Mikan telling her about the “unique experiences" she suffered so she felt despair at humanity.

Compared to canon, Tenko is far more serious about her misandry and hate. She also has an obsession with Miu since, her being the daughter of the person her mothers talked about like a goddess constantly, made her equivalent to Christ in her eyes.

Maki (Izuru x Peko)

Nagito’s constant begging, trying and failing eventually ran Izuru’s patience dry to the point where he decided to cut his losses and lock Nagito up until he learns to shut up for once, having the unintended consequence of him not being in UDG, which has enormous ramifications.

Izuru, despite everything, was still needing some entertainment. Luckily Chiaki, who’s soul fused to him resulting in them sharing their feelings and expanding their flaws, pointed out that, of everyone, Peko was the most similar to her. Thus Izuru, craving anything that might result in him feeling like he did on her death, asked for Peko to mate.

Peko, having returned Tenko to Mikan at the time, gladly accepted on the condition that she would raise the child alone. Izuru had no objections to this and so Maki was born… which happened at the same time Nagito’s luck finally led him to Izuru, resulting in him bearing witness to Izuru feeling more emotion than he could have ever done.

This effectively killed any spirit left in him until the end of DR:IF, where he would become obsessed with Makoto, though not to the degree he had with Izuru since he realized that Makoto already had a date and his soul could not deal with another Peko situation.

Maki is mostly the same as canon personality wise, albeit more colder and monotonous. She has no “true” talent as she has all talents in a diluted way thanks to Izuru. The closest thing to a talent is “Child Caregiver” that she gained in UDG since neither the trio or the WOH knew how to deal with the smaller kids.

She is closer to Tsumugi than everyone else because of her very strange birth and DNA, as well as her passionate personality being extremely interesting to her.

Kirumi (Sonia x Taka)

After Junko “dies” almost a year after Maki's third birthday, almost all the Remnants are set on revenge on Class 78 and the Future Foundation as a whole, especially Makoto, which started by doing one of the most horrific crimes one could commit to another person to the Future Foundation's staff.

Sonia's first victim of class 78 was an unfortunately oblivious Taka who she promptly drugged and “ruined” in a place where the FF building's cameras didn't reach.

Sonia escaped before she was caught, leaving him to be found by his boyfriend. Though shrouded in confusion, some higher ups had an idea of who could do such a heinous thing… Makoto brought it upon himself to come up with a plan to do something about this, unaware he was beginning to march down a very dangerous path.

Taka's assailant, in the meantime, found out she was pregnant 3 weeks later. Kirumi was the result of it.

Compared to canon, Kirumi is far more strict and slightly demeaning to others as a defensive mechanism, since she is aware she is a bastard child and hates herself and thinks, why should the others who have not suffered neither worked as much as she did should be… happy?

Fortunately Ryoma and Kaede help her defeat this mindset, though she is still very strict about manners and what she believes people should do/be like.

Ryoma & Kaede (Fuyuhiko x Leon)

After getting the location of a member of the group Makoto believes is responsible, he sends Leon to “find them and alert the FF to his whereabouts after he found the person of interest”, which Leon reluctantly agreed to.

What Makoto didn't reveal, however, was that Leon was going to be dealing with one of the most aggressive and violent members of their group, Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu. This led to Leon being a lot more careless than he should've been leading to him being… hurt.

This did, however, also have the side effect of sending a signal to Fuyuhiko's location, leading to his capture. But… it also left a sour taste in a certain former idol's mouth, which results in said idol confronting Makoto…

But… what's her voice to the greater good? After all, while they were both pregnant with different kids they could Hope through them, right? This all will be worth it. It has to be.

Compared to canon, Kaede is more hesitant and timid in decision making, while Ryoma is slightly less melancholic, seeing as something decent came of this mess after the tragedy, giving him Hope.

Kaito (Gundham x Makoto)

Shortly after the confrontation and realizing Leon's pregnancy and deciding to be quiet about it, Makoto is desperate to make his plan work. He can't let them continue to hurt but he also doesn't want to believe that his sins aren't able to be forgiven.

He needs them to be redeemed.

So, in a last ditch effort, he decides to meet up with a remnant, the only one who answered his signal. Though it took a lot of “convincing”. Cruel, painful, hateful “convincing” but… it was enough.

Unfortunately Kaito was the tax of it, the one caveat that pushed him over the edge and he nearly ended his light forever in a moment of mania. Fortunately Mukuro was there for him, like he had been for her many times before.

Compared to canon, Kaito seems the same but he has a more serious side he developed as a consequence of the shadows that seemed to surround his family. After all, he needs to know why his brother always seems to refuse to tell him what he has found about the family, why his father that seemed to be an eternal star seems to dim when he mentions his birth and why his invincible mother trembles every time he questions how he was conceived.

This side is far more analytical and determined than his normal one. He will find the truth one day.

Shuichi (Makoto x Mukuro)

After Kaito is born and the NWP is in progress, of course Makoto felt that he owed Mukuro so much that he would never be able to repay. In slight fear and paranoia of her lashing out at Kaito (even if he knows this would never happen, she seemed too protective of the baby to hurt him) he tries to do anything to repent to Mukuro.

Mukuro, while hesitant, eventually agrees after seeing Makoto nearly cut himself in desperation of finding any way to repent. Thus Shu is born from her belly before the NWP ends.

Compared to canon Shuichi is more similar to his Chapter 5-6 self, being more sure and confident, thanks to Mukuro and Makoto’s support. He is forced to not tell Kaito the truth of his birth because of Mukuro, who wishes to erase any trace of Gundham and the… incident from their family. Though, Shuichi still does tell him clues of the truth. He can’t be in the dark forever after all.

He also has a strange relationship with Miu, simultaneously having a crush and disliking her very existence, though he doesn’t understand why.

Tsumugi (Sayaka x Toko x Komaru)

Meanwhile in Towa City, Sayaka was beginning to grow increasingly closer with the last people she would have thought about. If she told her pre-Hope’s Peak self that she would end up dating a freaky writer with a split serial killer persona and the strange sibling of the guy ho was the closest thing to a childhood friend to her, she would probably think she went insane! Maybe she did in the end however, since the kids that were with the WOH were a riot and she feels her sanity slip every time she sees a corpse in the street and ignores it.

Because of the stress, all three of them decided to do some “stress relief” together, which led to both Toko and Komaru getting her pregnant. Somehow, the kid is from all 3 of them since Izuru (who was visiting because of Maki) said it had the DNA of all of them, making the kid a genetic anomaly. Sayaka was very peeved by this and nearly punched Izuru for insulting her kid. She would be born on the same day as Shuichi, making them same-day cousins.

She is the one that changes the most from canon, being more similar to canon Kaede than herself. She is outgoing, slightly self deprecating, optimistic and generally wants to make friends with everyone since seeing people happy makes her happy.

She had a crush on Shuichi before finding out he is her cousin, afterward she falls hard for Kaede and always boosts her morale (hehe, Kaemugi :3) whenever she can! Of course, she is still Tsumugi so she does have a darker side that takes the form of intrusive thoughts, courtesy of her mothers natural dark sides.

Because of this she has a natural fear of Junko. Miu (and everyone else) thinks it’s because of the whole "Ultimate Despair ended the world and she is insane and scary” thing. Tsumugi actually fears that she will become like her, just like Komaru nearly did in canon.

K1-B0 (Soda & Chihiro)

Keebo is a strange kid for many reasons. Originally built as a war machine by Kaz for Miu to use when she grew up as the successor to Junko, he has enough weaponry and energy to level all of Pre-Tragedy Tokyo to the ground in one hour.

Fortunally Soda was captured before he and Izuru could properly finish his mind, leading Chihiro to finish the job, making everything in his power to make him as human as possible. He was finally “born” around the halfway point of the NWP.

He is much colder and expressive than canon. While this may seem contradictory, it is a consequence of his original programming. To the kids of the remnants (especially Miu) he is friendly and extremely emotional to the point he seems like he is Makoto’s kid rather than a machine.

However, to the others (especially Shuichi) he is far colder and hesitant to approach them, since his system identifies them as "possible enemies to those who he must protect”. He is learning how to reduce this habit however. He refers to Soda as “creator” and Chihiro as “father/dad”, much to Soda’s chagrin.

Rantaro (Hajime x Nagito)

In the Neo World Program, meanwhile, Usami had been introducing everyone to Jabberwock Island before being interrupted by an unauthorized party, which her upgraded virus protection quickly suppressed into something that wasn't much of a threat.

But Monokuma wasn't willing to back down, he gave each of the students a letter featuring their most vile act to bring them into despair, mostly to be petty about being defeated so quickly.

This led to Nagito becoming more withdrawn and depressed, locking himself in his room and barely eating. He just couldn't see himself the same way anymore. But, thanks to his cruel luck, when he finally decided to kill himself, Hajime was there to stop him, to save him.

Nagito broke down which caused Hajime to have to “comfort” him in the only way the former would allow him to, thus Rantaro was conceived.

Compared to canon, Rantaro is more paranoid, aloof and distrusting since Nagito highly distrusts everyone that isn’t Hajime or Makoto, believing they “are just as cursed as him and they should all die for their sins”. This results in him only trusting (and liking) Kiibo, Shuichi, Tsumugi and Maki. He hates Miu with a burning passion believing and fearing that she will follow the footsteps of her birth mom and hurt him like Junko did Nagito.

Angie (Sonia x Aoi)

When the NWP ended, the person that took the realization of all their sins worse than Nagito was Sonia. She had turned her kingdom to ash, ravaged nations and their people, birthed a bastard child after “hurting” one of her saviors and to top it all off? She entered this path willingly, at least Nagito was forced into that, she wasn’t.

She merely gave up her mind and body to a madwoman because of her obvious tricks. She locked herself up like many others in her class and tried to “serve justice” to herself more than anyone else to the point that half of her arms are covered in scars. Yet there was one person that stubbornly refused to give up on her.

Aoi.

She was always there, always believing that she deserved even a miserable ounce of redemption. How could she not fall for her true savior? But it was up to Hina to actually push them past the finish line, since Sonia was all too afraid to hurt her like she has done many others before.

But eventually, one year after the Tragedy finally reached its conclusion, they sealed the knot and Sonia was pregnant once more. This time lovingly and happily, with the woman that dared salvage what she thought was broken beyond repair.

Compared to canon, Angie is not as religious and leans more on the occult as a combination of the general lack of faith after the Tragedy and Sonia’s love for the dark arts. She has more diverse emotions and is slightly more expressive. She retains her complete confidence in her actions and regularly ends up in the leader role whenever Tsumugi can’t.

She distrusts Miu greatly since she (believes that she) is the Antichrist, daughter of the Architraitor. Miu is understanding of this, and slowly builds trust between each other as she proves that she is truly different from her mother.

Gonta (Kiyotaka x Mondo)

A few years later, as things finally fully settled down and a lot of class 77 decided to lay low in the abandoned Jabberwock Island, class 78 were still taking the time to rescue the children who lost their parents in the tragedy.

One of these kids was a 3 year old Gonta Gokuhara, who was found in a bug-infested building by Mondo and Kiyotaka.

At first Gonta was rather wild and he couldn’t speak full sentences due to the lack of formal education during the Tragedy. So Taka and Mondo raised him as their own, since Taka flinched and shook at physical intimacy still.

Compared to canon, Gonta is initially identical to his canon (english) self. However as he grows up and gets better education, he becomes a highly formal person, with an extreme moral compass. This results in him being extremely overprotective over the things he cares about, at taught by Mondo so a tragedy like what happened to Taka never happens to him.

He is friendly to everyone except Miu, Kiibo and Kirumi, seeing Miu and Kiibo as a danger that can hurt everyone in an instant while Kirumi is a more rooted thing since they are (half) siblings and (in Gonta’s mind) she is the product of the reason father (Taka) always flinches when he hugs him.

Kokichi (Celeste x Kyoko)

A week later Kyoko is alerted to Kokichi's presence, a crafty 3 year old who was orphaned in the tragedy. He immediately latched onto Kyoko and she ended up taking him as her own, with her girlfriend being the second mother.

Celeste and Kyoko are both trying to be better people but Kokichi does develop some of their bad habits, especially Celeste's due to Kyoko frequently being busy.

Compared to canon, he is more friendly and approachable to the non-remnant part of the “class”, especially Gonta since he is also adopted. He really, really distrusts the remnant kids especially Maki, Miu and Kiibo. His relationship with the bastard kids is… complicated since they are half remnants in his eyes.

No, he does not have a crush on Kaito and/or Kaede, those are fake news Miu is trying to push so don't listen to her!

He is completely oblivious to the fact that Himiko has a (kinda) crush on him.

Towa is an artificial island (Sponsored by >![REDACTED]!<, of course) to create a “paradise” for the Hope's Peak alumni on the coast of Tokyo, since Jabberwock Island is (de-Jure) part of the USA. It is officially part of the Northern Mariana Islands (which are a bunch of islands that are in the north of Guam. Jabberwock is the island closest to Japan). Once the tragedy starts it becomes (de-facto) part of (what remains of) Japan! It is called “Towa” as part of a deal to hide the fact that >![REDACTED]!<funded this Island’s construction for decades. It started construction in 1987 and officially was “found” by the Japanese “authorities” as a hidden “natural” island in 1998.  Another thing to note is the fact that, coupled with >![UNINPORTANT]!<, both class 78 and 77-B seemed to have suffered >![DATA EXPUNGED]!<, which has resulted in more... erratic, illogical and overemotional responses than normal. Their bodies >![DATA EXPUNGED] !<too in order >![DATA EXPUNGED]!<. It all seemed to be in the name of >![HOPE EXPUNGED]!<

The events of DR:IF occur in 2025 in this AU thus making everyone in class 78 19-20 (barring Hiro who would be 22-23) by the time they get out. The tragedy started in 2022, class 78 entered school in 2020. When Chiaki dies and class 77-B falls into despair, did the Tragedy start? No! It starts with the mass suicide of the reserve course which causes everything to go downhill. So Junko simply had >![DATA EXPUNGED]!<before the tragedy! Which would commence 3 days later. (Monday to Thursday - Nagito >![DATA EXPUNGED]!<, Friday - Junko gets >![REDACTED]!<, weekend, the world ends.)

UDG happens one year later. So >![REDACTED]!< would be kidnapped at 4 years old and Komaru would be 19-20 while Sayaka and Toko would be 21.
