Google just ruined its image search results layout. Fewer images per screen, and using your arrow keys to parse through them now bounces you all over the place. Just one more example of the death of keyboard navigation.

Cant anyone help me figure out what this guy's lighting setup is?

I cohost a podcast with a friend of mine, which has been audio-only for the last 5 years. We've been dabbling with moving to video, but I've been having a real hell of a time finding a lighting solution that works for me. I have two issues where the fix for one interferes with the other. I wear glasses, and unfortunately over decades of a desk job I've put on some weight. This causes me to either have to deal with a massive amount of reflection in my glasses, or I have to move the light sources to locations that cause me to have dark shadows around my eyes. I've bought two large diffusers, and they have helped, but not nearly enough.

Yesterday I found this video while looking for something else, and can't help but be stunned at whatever lighting solution he's using. I've been wearing glasses with small lenses to minimize the possibility for glare. His lenses are maybe twice as large as mine, and other than the one monitor off to the side (which he could probably switch to have something darker on the screen) he's basically fully lit with no glare. It looks like he's got some kind of light bar on his desk, but (a) that might just be his keyboard, and (b) based off the reflection it doesn't look like it's bright enough to be the source of all this diffuse light. So what the heck is this guy using?

When he moves his head, at various points it looks like he's got purple and pink lights deep into his eye sockets, so I can only guess he's got purple and pink lights on either side, and based on the shadows from this eyeglass supports it looks like he's probably got white lights on both sides too, but what the heck.

Due to using a green screen I can't tell what he's got behind him, but one thing I've noticed in other similar videos is that people often have darker backgrounds, which I'm guessing causes their webcam to open its aperture more to bring in more light, so I've done something similar too, but even with all this he's got basically no shadows and I've still got extremely noticeable shadows.

Any help figuring out this guy's setup is appreciated.

A possible idea for the book club that I got at StokerCon last week

I forgot to bring my Reddit password with me when I went out of town, so I'm just now getting back on here. I've updated the BOTM threads, and wanted to share an idea that I'd gotten at StokerCon last week.

Even though I'm not a librarian, I attended one of the librarian panels because I was curious about the topic ("Brains! Brains! Brainstorming ways to engage your community"). There was a lot of interesting conversation about library programming, but one of the librarians shared that they also host a horror book club. Unlike ours where we vote for each month as they come, they plan out the entire year.

Part of this is because it allows the library to make sure they have extra copies of that month's book on hand for patrons to check out, but it made me wonder if it might be easier for us as a community to do something similar. Like, if we started 2026 by having everyone post their TBR pile and we found out that that five people all had The Eyes Are The Best Part in their pile then clearly that would've been a good book to read in 2026 because multiple people already owned it and wanted to read it. We're already halfway through 2026, but maybe this is something we could do this December, and plan out all of 2027.

Of course the down side is that this would mean potentially missing out on selecting hot books as they're released, but no one's saying you can't read something else if you wanted to.

What do you guys think?

Question about bees/elemental bees corrupted idol affixes

I saw in another post in this sub that there's a 94% reroll chance for that affix on the 1x4 huge idols:

This thread, which links to this one.

... but for unique Adorned Idols (2x2), it's a different affix. And if I'm reading the weightings right it says .35 (which is Rare, not Very Rare or Extremely Rare), so there should be about a 5% chance to get that affix on unique Adorned Idols, right?

My current build uses this item and I wanted to see how it compares in actual game use against the corrupted Haste affix I'm using on the item right now, but I've probably farmed well over 100 of these idols and I haven't gotten either the Bees or Elemental Bees affixes yet. But if I'm reading these stats right, for both those affixes combined I should've almost certainly seen one or the other by now, right?

I mean, RNGesus has always hated me, so even if I am right in how I'm reading this it wouldn't surprise me, but I figure I might as well make sure I'm understanding that .35 weight stat right.

Is it possible to do midi note splitting in Reason?

I like to watch tip videos from other DAWs because sometimes I'll learn an interesting idea I can use in Reason. I was watching this video on Ableton tips just now, and I LOVE that 3rd tip about there being a keyboard shortcut to auto-split and align midi notes. Does anyone know if Reason has any similar feature?

Old seller, now trying to sell a few things, finding things have changed a lot. Have questions about payments/refunds/etc.

Hey all. I used to have a side business selling and/or reselling stuff on eBay years ago, but stopped somewhere between 2005-2008 when I graduated college. I've still bought stuff, but it's been a long time since I've wanted to sell anything, and now that I'm trying to ... ugh.

So apparently they've removed Paypal as a method for me to collect payments and they want my checking account number so they can wire funds into and out of my checking account without oversight. That's a massive no for me. I guess I can contact my bank to see if they'll set me up with a separate checking account that I can use just for eBay, but I assume they'll want to charge me for maintaining a second checking account. Is this what everyone's doing now?

I certainly hope their payments to me wouldn't be treated as wire transfers (with fees), but I don't see anything about that on eBay's help page. I'd like to assume that means they're not, but can anyone else confirm one way or the other?

How are refunds handled? They don't specify on their help page, so it's unclear. I can still use Paypal to pay for things on eBay, so do they issue refunds from my Paypal account or directly from my checking account? When Paypal was in the middle there was a bit of a buffer where refunds could be made from my Paypal balance without needing to transfer funds from my bank account, but if eBay's trying to cut out Paypal then I assume they'll want to just pull from whatever checking account you give them access to.

Has anyone had any problems with eBay taking funds out of your account without asking?

Really annoyed that they want my DoB and SSN, but I suspect that's so they can report our income to the IRS, not because they need it to handle payments. No one needs my DoB or SSN to cash a check or to mail me one. Really, REALLY annoyed that they don't state that correctly on their site.

Anything else stupid/annoying/concerning I need to know about that's changed for sellers over the last ... yeesh ... 20 years?
