Comparing a 3-year MYGA with a 3-year Fixed index annuity. Which is the better choice?

I’ve been weighing a 3 year MYGA against a 3 year fixed index annuity and I keep going back and forth, so I wanted to hear how other people think through this. The MYGA is a bit easy to understand. You get a guaranteed rate for the full three years, you know the exact number upfront, and there’s no guessing. The FIA is more interesting to me though because your return is tied to an index, so there’s a floor that protects you in a down year but also more upside if the market does well. The tradeoff is that the upside gets capped, and comparing those caps across products is where I start to get confused. For anyone who’s compared these two, what ended up tipping your decision? Is a 3-year window even long enough for an FIA to be worth it over the simpler guaranteed route? And where do you go for honest reviews of specific products or providers, since most of what I find is often a sales page?

How do automotive plants actually use mobile robots for line-side material delivery?

Understand fixed robotic arms doing welding/assembly, but curious how mobile robots fit into keeping the line fed with parts

What's your current language learning routine?

At first it was the 5am wake-up then study before the day approach. Lasted maybe two weeks. Cuz I'd hit snooze and then feel guilty about it for hours, which made the whole thing worse. Then I tried evenings, but by 8pm my brain was done and I'd find myself rereading the same line three times. (TL) What finally worked was 20 minutes right after lunch, like one slot in the day where I'm already sitting down and not yet tired. Took me embarrassingly long to figure out, but  it took me forever to stop trying to be the kind of person who studies at dawn, babbel fit into that slot well cuz the lessons wrap in under 15 minutes, so "I don't have time today" stopped being a valid exit. It's been three weeks in so far and I've only skipped once.  What time of day has actually held for people over more than a few weeks? Is the post-lunch thing a fluke or is it just me?

Help, I need cheap VPS server for low latency US traffic

Hey, I’m setting up a server for a project, the vast majority of the participants are in the US, so I need to keep everything fast on both coasts. The problem is I don’t really know what to look for in a provider. Since I used to work with servers in the EU, I don’t know what the best combination of services would be. Are data center locations the most important thing, or does peering and routing matter more after you’re already hosted in the United States? A few boast about premium bandwidth and tier 1 connections, but I don’t really know how much that changes from day to day. Ideally, I’d like something with hourly billing. I used to work with EU vps serverspace, so now I’m looking for some local US alternatives. I’m looking for something cheap and easy to use. Thanks for your suggestions.

Staying presentable on a long trip without carrying half a bathroom

Six weeks out and hostel showers are not doing the job on their own. I don’t need to smell like anything in particular, I just don’t want to be the person on the bus. Trying to work out the minimum that actually holds up in heat when laundry is irregular. What did people settle on, and did anything turn out to be worth the extra weight?

Hot sleepers, did switching away from memory foam actually help?

I’m done buying sheets and “cooling” accessories trying to fix this. Looking at hybrids now, including saatva but I’m wondering how much difference coils actually make once you’ve been in bed for six hours.

What's under your rug right now, and when did you last look?

Mine’s been down almost 7 months and I’ve only ever vacuumed the top. Someone who cleans professionally told me the underside and the pad are usually worse than anything visible, especially with pets. When did you last lift yours, and was it bad?

What was your logistics nightmare?

I live in a remote place where the train hasn't reached yet, goods can be delivered through planes but we know how expensive that can get so for me when roads are blocked due to landslides or blockades it becomes an absolute nightmare for me

Audited my stack and cut it from eleven down to four

Most of what went was bought off the back of one podcast or a study i never followed up on. the part that surprised me was how many were combination products. i only actually wanted one ingredient in most of them. three contained the same compound at three different doses without me realising. for anyone who has done this properly what survived and did anything you cut turn out to matter?

This New Mexico Meta ruling is a huge win for those considering lawsuits

This New Mexico Meta ruling is a huge win for those considering lawsuits.

New Mexico came out of two rulings with a combined $942 million against Meta. Per the coverage, no state had won at trial against a big tech company on child harm claims before this one, and nothing of this kind has come in this large.

It came in two parts. A jury back in March found Meta liable for enabling child sexual exploitation on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp and put the penalties at $375 million.

Then on August 6 the judge tacked on another $567 million, this time into a fund for the broader harm to kids in the state, paying for youth internet safety training and community mental health centers.

He compared the platforms to factories and the harm to pollution, and found Meta created what the ruling calls a public nuisance. The pollution comparison gets used a lot online. A judge putting it in a ruling is another thing.

There's more than money. Users under 18 in New Mexico end up with private accounts by default on Instagram, friend connections on Facebook limited to other minors, notifications paused overnight and during school hours, a 90 hour monthly cap, no visible like counts.

The recommendation algorithms came up and the judge left them alone, even though plaintiffs asked. Meta disagrees with the ruling and will appeal.

Does a win like this open anything up for the cases still going, or does it not travel that way?

Anyone using a red light panel between sessions, and did you notice it in your recovery?

Training four days a week and the limiter is how long my legs take to come back rather than the programming. Panels come up whenever recovery gets discussed and the claims run from useless to essential with nothing in between. I would rather hear it from people who lift than from a product page. If you have one, how do you use it around training and what would you tell someone before they buy?

How do you think about compounded hormones versus the commercial versions?

I keep seeing compounded described either as the thoughtful individualised route or as an unregulated mess, and neither camp seems interested in the middle. What I want to understand is what the difference means in practice for the person taking it. What I have gathered is that a finished compounded product does not get reviewed the way a commercial one does, which seems like the part that matters most. Am I reading that right?

Europe by train or river cruise?

We’re looking at Europe for fall 2028 and keep changing our minds about how to do it. Original plan was Budapest, Vienna, etc by train. Now we’re also looking at a Danube trip with celebrity river. Has anyone done both and felt strongly one way or the other afterward?

Does anyone actually check the strain codes on a probiotic label?

Most bottles list something like L. plantarum and leave it there, but the research I can find is almost always run on a specific coded strain rather than the species as a whole. That is a fairly big gap between what has been studied and what I am actually buying, and I cannot tell whether it matters in practice. Does anyone here buy on codes, or is species close enough?
