22 and have basically till end of Sept to find a job or my parents are not letting me get out of the

I'm shamelessly desperate at this point and don't know where else to ask.

I graduated in 2025 with a BA in Economics and Political Science. I worked 9 months in Strategy/Political Consulting and have prior research experience in Public Sector consulting.

I NEED to get a job and move out by the end of this month. If I don't, my parents are going to make me take CAT and basically decide that I'm doing an MBA next. I don't want to do that. I need to start working and I have a very limited window to make that happen.

At this point I'm very flexible about the role and location. I'm open to any major metro in India and would consider:

Strategy / consulting (especially impact consulting/impact investing)

Research / advisory

Program management

Sector Agnostic Consulting/ Public sector & Government Consulting

Market research roles.

Not the biggest fan of Founders Office roles because most have EA type JDs.

I reached the last round at Redseer and Tresvista but got nervous and messed up the interviews :( Besides those I have interviewed at a few think tanks and Government consulting firms. Haven't gotten shortlisted at startups idk why. For the past month I'm struggling to even get through the profile shortlisting round, forget interviews.

My last CTC was 8.14 LPA, but I'm willing to take a cut (however would love if the firm could match this or give a pay bump) for the right opportunity. I just need something reasonably paid and sustainable, not a slave labour payment.

I have done everything from cold mailing to referrals to reaching out to VPs/ Directors/Founders/HRs on linkedin and iimjobs.

If anyone knows anyone hiring, has a referral, knows a recruiter, or has even seen an opening where my profile could fit, please comment and I'll DM you.

I know Reddit can't magically give me a job, but I'm really running out of time. Any help would mean a lot.

This is NOT an opportunity to randomly DM to "become friends".

Father fell down on railway track today and I feel miserable

I feel so sad and hollow rn because it is just another reminder that he's getting old and losing his balance and due to his medicines it is bad for him to bleed. He got cuts on his hands and leg. What if he had fell and hit his head? His phone screen broke and even paying for that is too tough for us right now.

I'm looking for a job really hard but only after atleast 3 years can I tell my father that my sibling and I earn enough and you can rest at home. No amount of study hard or you can get through this is going to fix that he's getting fucking old and has a host of health issues and a lower middle class family will always remain the same. Education loans and the cost of living will keep us in this same level for my entire life. I guess Im ranting at this point.

Argument with father because I touch things with my "etho" (jhuta) hands

There's this thing in bengali households, random things are referred to as etho, jhuta isn't the right word actually. I'm not talking dunking my hand in a bowl of raw chicken and smearing that hand everywhere. It's like raw onion etc, cooked tea, any cooked food including maggi. For example If a utensil with toasted bread in it is touching a stack of washed plates then I've made the plates "etho" and it would need to be washed.

My mum is not extreme but my dad is,,,, too much. When i ask for logic I don't get any. On top of that I'm atheist leaning/agnostic and i JUST got into a bickering session with my father because I served him chicken in a bowl WITH A SPATULA, then went to grab a box with sweets which my mom got form some local puja and he screamed at me because I'm touching it with my etho hand. Would have reacted the same if I had given him veggies instead of chicken as well. I told him it's just sweet from the local shop dude, he went off on me.

What's the logic behind this, genuinely asking?

Interviewer seemed annoyed by my question at the end of the call

So this was the last round post the assignment presentation round. There were a ton of profile based questions which I think I answered well. Now he brought up the assignment I did and shaked his head and said it's clearly all AI. Now I did use AI for researching the main body because the core part of the work is something where there is no resources or examples online. I did not speak up once to defend because I thought it will make me look more guilty. Yes they mentioned it in the assignment and I went on with it and I deserve the rejection email I got today.

But what pissed me off was in the end when he asked if I had questions I asked if this was a new role opening up or if this was a backfill hiring. He looked so annoyed hearing it, furrowed his eyebrows and asked why does it matter, what connection does it have with you? Idk if he was annoyed because of the assignment or he thought my question was stupid but it made me want to cry the tone with which he spoke. I had gotten this question from a reddit thread long ago and it has turned into a good discussion point before in many interviews. When I explained my pov to him then he said uh it's both. Anyway my question is, was my question that stupid?

Does my mom have both nail fungus and paronychia?

I am scared because it has that swollen look of clubbed nails but I research and I learned clubbing of nails doesnt come with the yellowish tint and weird textures on it. I have nail psoriasis so I know what nails look like with it, however I don't think she has that as the region around the nail bed is also swollen.

(Other nails are normal with chipped polish on)

So frustrating, Company moved the goalposts after I cleared the interview process

I'm honestly so so angry.

I went through the entire hiring process for the office in City X:

  • Assessment
  • Interview 1
  • Interview 2

From everything I'd read on Glassdoor, that's the process. I got positive feedback after the interviews too.

Then HR called me and said hiring for city X for my profile was on hold and asked if I'd be willing to relocate to city Y instead. I said yes without hesitation because I genuinely wanted the job.

Instead of transferring my profile, Y made me do another interview.

Not once during the process was I told I'd have to interview again if I agreed to relocate. I couldn't even find anyone mentioning this extra round online, so I walked into it not knowing whether it was a formal interview or just a discussion.

And then I got rejected. They asked me questions, gave confusing answers themselves, lowballed me by saying my past 1 year experience is not counted as it is in another domain so I must start as a fresher. Then 2 minutes after it ended I got the rejection mail.

The fact that after an assessment and two interviews, I was asked to relocate to another office, only to be put through yet another interview that apparently carried enough weight to override everything I'd already cleared.

If Y wanted to run its own hiring process from the beginning, that's completely fair. But don't ask candidates to go through the full process in one office, tell them to relocate, and then effectively make them start over.

How is internal strategy role looked at as Pre-MBA experience?

Need some career advice.

I'm interviewing for an internal strategy role at a global outsourcing/professional services firm (not the investment research side they're more known for, along with the horrible toxic culture apparently).

From what I understand, the work is a mix of figuring out why parts of the business aren't working well, using data to understand what's going on, working with different teams to fix those problems, tracking projects and helping leadership make decisions on improving how the company operates.

My long-term goal is to do an MBA and move into management consulting.

For those who've worked in internal strategy or made a similar transition, does this kind of experience help with consulting recruiting post-MBA?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who've gone through the process.

How is a Tresvista (Analyst - Strategy) role looked at as pre-mba experience?

I know how toxic that workplace is but all reviews seems be from their other departments. Does anyone have any idea about how the Strategy role is specifically looked at and how the teams are there? I know it is sort of a back office role and that scares me as I'm more interested in RIS but I have no other offer in hand right now.

My only other option at hand rn (in process) is working for a social impact firm which works with ngos which I'm not to keen on.

Any off-campus hiring for S&C associate/accenture management consulting associate?

I see UG freshers starting this role from Tier 1/1.5 colleges (social science background) so I'm guessing they got it through on campus opportunities. Any idea if hiring happens for the same off campus?

How do you negotiate salary?

I have 9 months of experience in Consulting. My last ctc was 8.1LPA and this known boutique consulting firm is offering 7LPA. I have an interview scheduled. The junior HR said I can negotiate my salary with the head HR during the call.

Any tips on how to go about this? Since I have only 9 months work ex how do I convince them to spend more on me without risking this job opportunity? I am jobless rn and really want this but at the same time the salary is too low but the company has a name in this sector.

Done with looking for jobs so I'm reaching out here :/

My father and I both got laid off last month. I've spent the last few weeks applying for jobs and hearing very little back.

My background spans governance consulting, political strategy, policy research, and programme implementation. I've worked on everything from field operations and stakeholder management to research and problem solving in extremely fast moving environments. My CTC was 8.1 so I'm looking for something similar or higher.

I have a Bachelors in Economics from a Tier 2 College (Christ/MCC) and 9 months of full time experience in Political/Strategy Consulting. My background is so varied I think I can do a lot. One thing I'm not open to is "Founder's Office" roles because those are all mostly glorified EAs.

If something comes to mind, I'd be grateful.

Thank you.

[India] Is double referral an issue from the recruitment POV?

Need a recruiter/HR perspective on this:

I reached out to two former employees of a company yesterday for advice on whether cold outreach works there since they rarely post openings.

Person A (former HR head, left firm last year) suggested I email the current HR lead directly, so I did and sent my CV and mentioned I got in touch with Person A who recommended this.

Today noon, Person B (another former employee, just left last month, Consultant level) replied and offered to forward my resume to the recruitment team.

If B also shares my profile, would recruiters view that negatively or as duplicate/spammy? Or is it fairly normal for a candidate to come through both a direct application and a referral route?
