My win rate with the main line KID is absolutely abysmal.

My win rate with the main line KID is absolutely abysmal.

As white, when facing the main line KID, my win rate is absolutely terrible. I only do well if I play a London system set up. I have tried various variations: Averbakh, Semi-Averbakh, Makagonov, and Samisch.

I do terribly in all of them. Here is my most recent Lichess45 league game using the Semi-Averbakh variation. I won, but only because I played hope chess and my opponent blundered. https://lichess.org/j4SM6rAZQy33

I'm assuming the answer to immediately resolve my problems is to play the fianchetto variation, but I don't want to give up. I want to get better, I don't want to immediately give up the advantage, even if this is psychologically what KID players hate.

I'm 1150ish Chesscom rapid on my main, and about 1250 on my alt (I haven't lost a game though on my alt). On Lichess Classical I'm 1560ish.

I would appreciate any tips, seriously. I hate facing it and I want to get better. Normally, I'm a Queen's Gambit player. If my opponent replies d5, I have a 60% win rate. I actually have a positive win rate against every reply to d4 besides Nf6 and the immediate g6 (discarding random stuff 1.. h6 or 1.. a6.

Lichess profile: https://lichess.org/@/SpacebarIsTaken/

EDIT: One important add on: if they play d6 before g6, I have about a 50% win rate in 12 games. That still makes the overall win rate negative, but not quite so bad. Here is a similar picture, using the other move order. https://imgur.com/1e189bd5-08a3-4388-a5dc-94c78ea92cf8

Best way to edit key binds to closer mimic Linux/Windows?

Hey guys, I returned to Mac after not using one since high school and I love it, but I'm struggling with some of the key binds. I'd like to change a few things such as the screenshot key bind defaulting to copying the photo (command + shift + control + 4) and I would like to change the paste without formatting (command + shift + option + v).

Also, can I somehow add a cut command? I know Mac doesn't have this by default.

What is the best software to do this?

EDIT: Also, does anyone have a simple calculator application suggestion that allows opening multiple windows? I like to have two open at once (I got the Mac for work). I figured out I can run open -na calculator in Terminal, and I tried pinning the duplicate to the Dock, but I can't actually reopen it that way without running the command again.

Emails randomly started failing to Yahoo with "temporarily deferred due to unexpected volume or user complaints"

I have been running my business for 4 years now. We send out newsletters (opt in required) about once every few months. I have not sent a newsletter at all lately.

My typical email to a new customer is a quote in PDF form emailed to them.

Today I had sent 1 or 2 emails to a customer who I have been going back and forth with and then received the error in the title.

I then tried replying to two more customers who also have Yahoo email addresses, three emails total, and all have failed with the 421 error stating:

We could not deliver the attached mail for the following recipients.
genericcustomeremail@yahoo.com at remote mailserver mta5.am0.yahoodns.net. (98.136.96.91): SMTPSendFailedException: 421 4.7.0 [TSS04] Messages from 34.202.193.197 temporarily deferred due to unexpected volume or user complaints - 4.16.55.1; see https://postmaster.yahooinc.com/error-codes

I do not spam customers, they submit a quote request online, then I email them a quote, they then either call me back or email me back. I don't even do email follow ups. I don't do any outbound.

Does anyone have any tips to resolve this? A lot of my customers are older, so they use Yahoo instead of Gmail.

I have double checked and I have DMARC, DKIM, and SPF all set up right. Nothing with my email has changed lately. I don't know what's wrong. I use Cloudflare.

EDIT: I use PurelyMail as my email provider. I checked MX Tool Box blacklist checker and the IP does not appear on any blacklists.

Sharing my HyperX Cloud III S equalizer settings

Hey guys, I got my Cloud III S in the mail last week and I have been trying different EQs from the community and have finally settled on a custom one I made that I think sounds pretty good. There are lots of different EQs for the regular Cloud III on here, but not so many for the S version, and the ones I found felt like they could be better, for my ears anyway.

The goal of this EQ is to get a nice V shaped sound with a closer response to the Harman Target Curve. I found this to be a good mix for acoustic/rock music and gaming, but for pop/hip-hop, or movies, you may want to boost the bass/treble a bit more and not drop the mids so much. Sound is totally subjective, so play around with it and go with what sounds best to you.

This EQ sounds excellent for gaming. Tested this one, along with several other inside of Rainbow Six Siege, Battlefield 1, and Marvel Rivals.

Make sure to turn off spatial audio under NGENUITY settings and make sure you don't have any spacial audio turn on under Windows (Dolby Atmos or DTS Unbound).

I will probably edit this at some point and will leave a note if I do so. I am also getting a set of the cooling Wicked Cushions ear pads, which should be here tomorrow. I will let you guys know if they still sound good with the ear pads or if I recommend a different EQ for them.

Let me know what you think!

32 Hz 1.0 db

64 Hz 0.0 db

125 Hz -1.0 db

250 Hz -2.0 db

500 Hz -3.0 db

1 kHz -2.0 db

2 Khz 0.0 db

4 kHz 1.0 db

8 kHz 1.0 db

16kHz 1.5 db

EDIT: Last edit 7/14 to touch up some things after checking the tuning of the headset on Squiglink as a commenter suggested.

Best noise isolating ear pads for Cloud III S?

I like the stock pads on my Cloud III S Wireless, but I would also like a set that allows less noise through. If my wife is watching a movie and I'm chilling on the couch I can still hear it pretty clearly.

Any suggestions? I don't have any complaints regarding heat or comfort with the stock pads. I saw lots of people get the cooling pads from Wicked Cushions but do those allow less noise through?

EDIT: I ordered Wicked Cushions' Freeze V2 Cloud. They will be here tomorrow. Will let you guys know what I think.

Is it possible to get better sounding microphone for HyperX Cloud III S Wireless?

I got my Cloud III S Wireless last week and have been very happy with it, found a good EQ and really am enjoying them, but I'm unhappy with the microphone quality. I know mic quality on headsets is usually pretty bad to keep costs down, but I don't mind spending some money to get a better sounding microphone.

I saw this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D75W1CT9?lv=shuf&channelId=500&plpRedirect=mhFallback#averageCustomerReviewsAnchor and it claims to be "upgraded" but I can't find any actual tests to see if it's better than stock or not.

Anyone have any experiences with this mic or another one that is compatible with the Cloud III S Wireless?

I already have a nice microphone/IEMs for my desktop, but I want something that plugs right into the stock mic slot for work calls and for my couch rig.

What multiplayer games are you guys playing on your couch rig?

I usually play competitive games (Siege, League, Overwatch, chess, etc) or casual FPS like Battlefield on my desktop PC.

I'm struggling to find multiplayer games that are fun to play with a controller on the couch. Overwatch would be perfect but it doesn't have controller only matchmaking (Steam controller with gyro would maybe be a good try). Fortnite, BF6, CoD, GTAO, and RDO all don't work on Linux.

I've played a little FH6 but feel like the actual multiplayer isn't that fun unless you're queued with people.

I was thinking about The Finals. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Really just want something fun, casual, that has voice chat. I've read Insurgency Sandstorm is pretty good, but I think it's dying and don't really want to dive in this late.

Appreciate any recommendations!

T200 1 hour fast?

So the other day I travelled from Indiana to Illinois and pulled out the crown 1 click to change the time zone, which worked great, then when I got back to Indiana I changed the time zone again. Where I am in Indiana it's -5 UTC standard time and -4 UTC during DST.

When I woke up in the morning my watch was running 1 hour behind.

As you can see from my photo, time change is set to AT and time zone is set to -5. I can only get the time to actually work properly if I manually turn on DST.

I do not use Bluetooth, only automatic radio.

Any advice on how to fix this?

People keep telling me my mic is making them echo in game - I DONT HAVE A MIC

Hello all, new Bazzite user here. This is a weird one, but in games with voice chat, people are hearing themselves being echoed through my mic.

The only problem is I don't even have a mic. Bazzite is my couch rig, there are no microphones or headphones attached. Audio is being output to a set of Edifier R1700BT speakers using Steam's Bluetooth feature.

Steam does not recognize any mic within settings.

I have the following peripherals plugged in: Logitech G502 wireless mouse, Red Dragon Crescent Pro membrane keyboard, 8Bitdo Ultimate 2 controller dock (controller itself is wireless).

I have actually reinstalled the OS and this is happening on both instances. This is also happening with two different motherboards.

Computer plugged into my TV via HDMI.

Specs are as follows: Ryzen 5 5600, 6700XT GPU, B550M-VC mobo, 8GB DDR4 2400Mhz Ram (I know I know, I have 16GB 3600Mhz ready to be installed), 1 TB HDD (I know, new SSD will be here Friday).

Games this has occured in where people have complained: Mecha Chameleon, and Sledding Game (these are the only multiplayer games I have tried).

What microphone input the games list: Pulse Audio Input.

My theory is my output audio stream is being cloned into the input Stream somehow but I'm not sure why. That's my best guess anyway.

I want to sell my Steam Deck and get a mini PC, looking for suggestions

So I got a Steam deck about a year or so ago for basically "free". I sold all my CS skins that I had been holding since high school and paid like $70 out of pocket.

Unfortunately it's just not powerful enough to game on my 4k TV. I run everything at 720p and upscale it but it's just not as powerful as I want it to be.

Obviously the screen, joysticks, buttons, etc all cost money and go into the total cost of the Deck, so I was thinking of selling it and thinking that I'd be able to use that money and maybe like $100-150 more to get something that's quite a bit more beefy. Something that can handle PS4 + Xbox One (generation wise not emulation wise) games at 60 FPS maybe?

Some games I want to play at minimum decent graphics, 1080p, 45 FPS: RDR2, Horizon 6, Elden Ring, Battlefield 6 (idk I'll probably install Linux so maybe not BF).

I also plan to use it for emulation, but probably nothing crazy. My favorite game of all time is the 1985 SMB game and I really like the original God of War trilogy.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to what I should consider?

I really just want to use it as a console.

Should I install Batocera or RetroPie on Pi 4

I've used RetroPie many times over the years but I went to flash it today and saw it hasn't been updated since 2022. I'm sure it still works just fine, but before I go through the process of installing it, I wanted to see if it still worth using or if I should consider something else?

Also, I may get a mini PC game for emulation in the future. Open to suggestions if anyone has any, but for now I'll be using the Pi.

When clicking upload/attach on ANY program, the file explorer opens and hangs for 30-45 seconds

I have been having this issue for a month or two now. I am on Windows 11, it's a gaming PC. 5070 TI, 16 GB DDR4 3600Mhz, Ryzen 7 5800XT, Windows install is probably 6 months old, 2 TB Sata SSD.

When I attempt to attach a file to an email, or upload a PDF or anything like that to any website, the file explorer opens and hangs for about 30-45 seconds, before displaying the list of files.

One day it just started occurring and never went away. The rest of my PC works perfectly fine, gaming and everything is all good, but anytime I need to attach a file to something, this occurs. Trying to simply open file explorer and browse around works as expected, this occurs only when attempting to attach/upload a file, and it doesn't matter what app I'm trying to upload to.

I use this computer for work, and this costs me a lot of time and interrupts my flow state. Any advice on how to resolve the issue would be greatly appreciated.

The only trouble shooting I have attempted is using the Disk Cleanup tool.

Appreciate any troubleshooting tips or possible solutions. Thanks in advance.

New (to me) camera day! Lumix DMC-ZS100

Seller had this up on eBay for $500, I offered $430, seller countered with $450, and I bought it. Thrilled to finally have a point and shoot pocket camera. Been wanting one for years.

I put some skateboard grip tape on the front and back since there really is no grip at all by default.

Lots of dust trapped inside the lens, but hoping to get it removed somehow (idk how yet). Slight scratches on the LCD screen, but nothing major. I put a screen protector on it and you can't tell anymore.

Will be sharing shots when I have some time to use it!

Was really debating getting a LX100, it was cheaper, but I thought it would be too big. I already have a Sony A6300.

Also thought about the new ZS99 but it has a smaller sensor and no EVF. Seems like modern day point and shoots have regressed. Smart phones I guess :/

Hoping this lasts a few years!

What happens when someone returna a broken item with a different serial number?

Just wondering what would happen if someone decided to buy something from Best Buy and then let's say like a year later that thing stops working, so they buy the same item again, and then 2 weeks later try to return the broken item, passing it off as the new item. Then let's say the refund is denied in store and they tell you the serial numbers don't match, but it does match that person's purchase history from the item they bought one year ago so they send them on their way.

Would that interaction go on that person's record? Would the police be notified?

This is all completely hypothetical of course, purely curiosity.
