It started with a test of Fable and ended up as a working multiplayer game

The last 1,5 week has been quite an eyeopener for me - I must say that Claude Code and the current frontier models are amazing.

A test of Fable (and later Opus 5) turned into a larger game. It’s very much inspired by the tank element of Battlefield 1942 and the round-by-round build system from Overwatch 2’s Stadium mode.

About the game: You join a game and enhance your tank, then you go out and destroy the enemy while hunting for salvage which is used to enhance your tank even further (balance patches pending). Some of the features:

  • 6 different tanks (Tiger 1 is a beast)
  • 3 maps (a desert, grass and snow map with destructible terrain)
  • Round-by-round build system
  • Customisation of tanks
  • Matchmaking system, lag compensation system, ballistic shells (direct hits only), hit multiplier regions (many tanks fall on a single rear hit)
  • Bots who backfill if theres not enough real players
  • ELO ladder system
  • Replay/clip system
  • In-game power ups
  • Career profiles
  • Group system
  • Friends system
  • 3 layered chat system (global, match and team)

Feel free to try it out – I’ll personally greet you ingame: https://sweatypanzer.com/

I would love to hear what you think, and kindly report bugs if you find any. Its currently optimised for desktop, but should work on mobile too.

My first game is live on itch.io !

Hi everyone - I'm excited to share that my first game is now live on itch !

4v4 tank combat

Eight crews, six hulls, best of seven. Each round is four minutes and you get one life in it, so a round is a fight you can lose in the first thirty seconds and spend the rest of watching. The flag in the middle only goes live for the **last thirty seconds**, which means the first three and a half minutes are about position and the last thirty are about nerve.

Salvage is the whole economy

Kills, wins and survival pay salvage. Between rounds you spend it: armour, optics, a faster breech, one of four ability slots (smoke, a mine, an overdrive burst, a hotter shell). Die with crates on you and they spill onto the ground where you died, for anyone to sweep. A crew that has been winning is carrying a lot.

Supply drops land on the centre through the locked half. Standing on one takes four seconds, and an enemy inside the same circle stops the clock for everybody — arriving first is not the same as taking it.

The tanks are actually different

Panzer IV the yardstick · Tiger I the steadiest gun on the field and the worst climber · Cromwell goes up hills nothing else can · Sherman M4 · T-34/85 · StuG III, no turret at all, so steering *is* aiming.

Where you fight matters as much as what you drive. A Tiger stalls on a bank a Cromwell walks up, and the high ground is where gun depression pays.

Some key features:

  • 6 different tanks (Tiger 1 is a beast)
  • 3 maps (a desert, grass and snow map with destructible terrain)
  • Round-by-round build system
  • Customisation of tanks
  • Matchmaking system, lag compensation system, ballistic shells (direct hits only), hit multiplier regions (many tanks fall on a single rear hit)
  • Bots who backfill if theres not enough real players
  • ELO ladder system
  • Replay/clip system
  • In-game power ups
  • Career profiles
  • Group system
  • Friends system
  • 3 layered chat system (global, match and team)
