Tomorrow - the 7th of the 7th - will be an announcement from GB.....

I read a comment on Facebook and I know it likely has no substance or nothing to back it up but that person said that GB said earlier this year he will be touring in the second half of this year. So tomorrow's announcement will likely be an announcement to go back touring.

How can he move on to a new tour and a new project without finalising the Croke park stuff he was talking about for a long time after the 2022 Dublin gigs? He was the one who spoke for years afterwards that he is producing something and he has seen the footage and it makes him emotional and then he gave a vague release for the autumn and that was in 2024 but then nothing. You would then he would just finalise that part but saying there was a change in plans and it's not going ahead or if it is going ahead giving something substantial with a confirmed release date.

Alan Jackson played his final concert last week and there's stuff in the pipeline for a release this winter. As for Garth Brooks, it doesn't take 4 years to release a concert movie or whatever he was planning on doing. It really is contempt for his Irish fans, to build anticiaption that there would be something about the Croke park gigs just for nothing to ever happen. It's not hard to come out and give a statement that he was planning on doing something with the footage but it didn't work out. Just to close that chapter. That's all.

It's unfortunate, I like his music especially from the 90s but he's an arrogant person and just horrible. I know his die hard fans would likely attack me about that because they can't see him do any wrong.

Edit to add: you don't see any other musician building anticipation for nothing. That swhat he did for years after the Croke park concerts, building anticipation that there was something in the pipeline.

Do you know what would be so cool? A smart wheel

A wheel with WiFi and an app. A wheel with these functions:

Counting rotations

Weighs your hamster

Time function

An alarm that alarms your phone and app when the wheel gets stuck like if a nut gets caught under the wheel.

Maybe a function where you can select different resistance.

I can believe there's no such thing as a smart wheel. If anyone is out there in the world wants to run with my idea, please do.

What happened to the Croke Park, Dublin footage

He had drones in Croke park filming the gigs and he hinted for years afterwards that there was something being produced and due for release but nothing ever was released. What happened? He said it was due to be released soon that was last year or the year before but nothing happened? Can he not follow it up with a statement that - 'its on hold for now' - whatever or something. Why did he promise something and then nothing? Why did he lie?

Would a thermal camera work for a hamster owner for finding a hamster in its enclosurer?

I have a pet hamster. I only have her since the 1st of June. Her enclosurer has inches of bedding. I am aware of one of her holes that she comes out from. I did a spot clean of one corner thinking that's where she was because she was there the first day I got her. I don't think she was there.

I am thinking about getting a thermal camera so I can look for her in the enclosurer without lifting platforms and disturbing her borrows and nest.

Would a thermal camera be able to look under a few inches of bedding to find a hamster?

I think it would help me massively as well foronitoring her and caring for her.

Hole in bad of paper bedding

I ordered a bag of paper bedding from Amazon. It was a day late being delivered to me. It should have been delivered to me on Friday but it was delivered today. It didn't arrive in a box. Upon delivery I noticed a small hole in the plastic packaging.

I naturally want this to be safe for my hamster. I am anxious in case maybe some beetle or other insect crawled in during transit. I am in Ireland and we don't usually have bad creepy crawlies.

The whole is only small.

I am disappointed.

Should I return it or would it be safe to keep.

I am thinking maybe I could get large zip lock and put the paper into zip lock bags and freeze it maybe. Would that be safe?

Portable gaming console - steam deck, Lenovo legion go or Asus ally

Which would you recommend for a budget gaming console. Just want to play Sims on the go.

Any good deals on steam decks or refurbished, either here online in Ireland or the EU?

I used to love playing the Sims when I was younger. Used to play on the PS3. I never got a PS4 or PS5. I used to love doing money cheats and building houses. That's all.

Lately I am thinking about playing again.

I am thinking about a steam deck. It doesn't have to be new. It can be refurbished. I don't mind refurbished.

I was doing a quick search online on Irish shops and online within the EU.

They are expensive new and even refurbished.

I came here to check is there anyone else online I can explore for steam deck.

A few years ago I bought a tablet from Amazon in Spain for 420 and at the time they were 700 new in Irish shops.

I would love to be able to find a deal something similar. Maybe buying online within the EU and hopefully find a reasonably budget friendly console.

Budget is 400 to 450. I could possibly stretch it.

Would a loud bang in the house, not near the enclosurer but loud, harm a hamster?

I have a robo dwarf hamster. She's in my bedroom. The camera I have, currently shows that she's not up.

Activity in the main household led to a door banging loudly. Its doors opened and it's breezy outside and a door slammed. It was loud.

Would that harm her her and unalive her?

She was likely asleep in her nest in the bedding at the time.

Sandbath for robos

I adopted a robo last week.

I was happy with the sandbath that I provided in the enclosurer. It's a circle ceramic pasta dish that is 9 inches and 2 inches tall. The sand bath was the first thing my hamster went to. She loves it. She runs around in the sand, she digs and rolls around. She is so cute.

I did a search and apparently robos come from a dessert and they love sand and I read that they need a large sandbath or sand pit.

I have a lot of tall platforms with bedding under them all.

A lot of of platform floors are all full.

I would be interested in providing a bigger sandbath if it's needed.

Anyone else here with robos? What is your sand pit like?

I am using calcium free dessert sand.

I was looking at a cat litter tray that I could use for a sandpit. What do you think?

Is it possible to tame a robo hamster?

I adopted a 1 year old robo rescue last week. She's settling in well. She's so good. She's not afraid to explore her enclosurer when I am in the room and sitting near her. However she is very skittish a s quick and if I get too close she runs to hide.

This morning I was cleaning her enclosurer just the sandbath and sweeping some platforms with a paintbrush and changing her water and giving her new fresh sprays. She came out being nosey and exploring. I didn't even move her nest or hide. She was still exploring. I have her a tiny little lick of cream cheese and encouraged her to walk to the spoon to talk softly to her.

I am sitting by the enclosurer every day and reading to her too.

I play a hamster list of music I found on Spotify.

Is it possible to tame a robo hamster. Or encourage her to become more calm.

I will be getting some live mealworms and maybe that might help.

Something else I am doing is giving her soft toilet paper every day. I make sure to use the same handwash that is non scented before I start working with her enclosurer.

I saw some posts on Reddit suggest sitting in a bath with a hamster. Obviously an empthy bath. Does that work even with a robo hamster? I don't want to hurt her or harm her. I won't be forcing anything either.

El nino??

Apparantly this is an el nino year. According to Google there was an el nino in 2023 to 2024.

I remember we had a nice dry spell at the start of the summer of 2023 for a week or two and then after that, it rained regularly until the next dry week before the summer of 2024. We did get some dry spells but it wasn't great or prolonged.

I am in Galway and it's been a wash out since last weekend and apparently there's another week of this left too.

I just fear that maybe we had our summer a few weeks ago when we had some nice dry weather for a few days. I hope I am wrong.

The rain over the past few days is sickening along with a heavy breeze. It's like winter.

Do all dehumidifiers do this?

I bought a dehumdifer last winter and fell in love with it. It was so good.

It was a Meaco descciant dehumidifier. It was so good.

Something I liked about it was that it would go go into sleep mode once the target humidity was set and then wake up a while later, samlle the air, and either run the machine some more or go back to sleep.

I liked it because it was easily to keep humidity down in my room and it was also very cost effective to run.

However that sleep function is now that working on my machine anyways more after a power outage. The machine is turning on and it's extracting moisture and it is working but it's running continuously now instead of going into sleep mode.

I am waiting on a rely back from the shop I bought it from for the warranty. I am thinking about buying another dehumidifier. Can't live without this now.

Do all dehumdifers work like this? Or will I be better off buying the same appliance again.

Help - meaco not going into sleep mode since power outage.

Anyone who owns a meaco would know they had a sleep mode where the machine reaches the humidity that you set it at, and then it goes into a sleep mode where it's 'off' for approx 30 minutes, then it wakes up and samples the air.  If it's still low it turns into sleep mode again if the humidity is higher it runs again until it drops.  Making it very cost effective on the bill.

Or that's it with my machine anyways.  I have a desiccant dehumidifier by meacco.  Bought it last year and I love it.  However I now have a problem with it.

The day before yesterday I pressed the power button to turn it off.  So the fan was still running.  It takes about 10 minutes to full turn off.   During this time there was a power cut.

Since then, the machine is operating ok.  It's dehumidifying the air and the tank is filling however it's just not going into a sleep mode.

Theres no extra moisture or humidity in my room.   The machine I have does not have a humidity reader.   I have a sperate reader and I realise they are two different things and are likely going to read different.   The dehumdifer is definitely dehumdiifying but it's just not going into a sleep mode.

I ma so so so disappointed.  I googled it.  There is also a troubleshooting guide for the appliance.  I powered it down and waited for it to turn off.  I unplugged the device, I cleaned the filter, I used a hairdryer pointing behind the filter and into the fan inlet.

The air is warm from the machine which is normal. When I press the power button to turn it off, the air turns cold which is also normal because that is the fan working towards turning off.

It does appear as if it's working but it's just not going init sleep mode.

Is there any easy DIY troubleshooting method I could do or will I contact the shop that I bought it from or even the brand. It should still be in warranty. I can't remember if I even registered it with the manufacturer.

I write with a heavy heart.

I lost pets before. Like my beloved family dog of 13 years who aged and became unwell.

A gorgeous cat who became depressed after the dog passing and then he was likely hit on the road. The passing of my pets happend within 6 months of each other about 8 years ago. I was never able to get another dog. It was too much.

Not long after the cat died, a stray cat came to visit. At first it wasn't often but he came to visit. Over time he came more and more. I believe he came from a nearby house where 2 old people lived and they didn't look after the cat. I learned this cat was visiting another neighbour two. For a long time he didn't have a name. Just cat. He was finally given a name three years ago. Sonny.

Sonny was a stray but over time he came to trust people and came to warm to people and me too. I made a cubby hole in my room for him. He was so cheeky. He loved making a nest in my bed. I remember keeping him in my room during a storm. I had a litter tray but he never learned to use it. He was so clever. He knew he was allowed in my room. When he snuck into the house he would walk up the hall and do his kitty meow outside of my bedroom door. Wanting to come and rest in my room.

I got some hamsters over the years too and lost them. My stray visitor with his new name loved stalking them. They have short lives. Losing them was hard too. Especially the second hamster because she was so small and she became ill and needed help from the vet to pass.

I knew Sonny was likely getting to the near with his life. Last month he began to smell badly of cat pee and I knew then. He likes stopped grooming himself or maybe he wasn't able to groom him. Cats love grooming themselves and when they stop, there's no quality of live left. I wanted to take him to the vet and bring him to sleep but I was talked out from it.

Then another week or so passes and he came and his face was injured. Again I wanted to take him to the vet. Again I was talked out from it. I wanted to keep him indoors. The person I live with became disgusted at the cat and his injury and wanted him out. I felt awful for him.

I bought him a kennel for outdoors last week. So he could sleep and rest. He took to it straight away. He knew it was for him.

I finished work at the weekend and his face wasn't getting better. I rang an out of hours vet crying for help. I told the vet I can't drive. She recommended the cat rescue. I contacted the cat rescue who came and picked him up.

I thought it was a case of helping him with his infection and he will be home again. Sadly not. The vet examined him. I got a call back from the rescue to say that the vet can't save him and it's time to pass over.

I knew it was for the best. He's at peace now.

I am distraught and full of so much guilt. He was visitor to me for so long. I kept kidnapping him to bring him into my room for a long time. What was I thinking. I got him a kennel too late. I only got it because it was hard to bypass someone who never wanted him to come indoors. I am filled with so much guilt how I wasn't with him during his last moments. I gave him to a rescue to take care of his end of life. He was so good going into the cage for going off in a strangers car. I know it was from a rescue but still. I am filled with so much guilty. I wish I got him help sooner. I had to buy him the kennel because he wasnt allowed in with his injury due to some sort of paranoia that he was infectious. He slept for three nights in the kennel and then he went to the vets and he went to sleep there.

When he was younger he still had a house and a different owner up the road. He wasn't truly mine so I wasn't able to fully care for him. He made the doorstep of my filthy home his.

I am filled with so much guilt. I wanted to bring him to sleep even 5/6 weeks ago when he stopped grooming himself because it was time then but I was talked out from it and I was told just let them wander off and die and stop wasting your money. If I took him to sleep then he wouldn't have suffered the way he did in the end. In fact I know of a home service where they come to your home and you hold your pet. He was at a stage where he would have let me hold him.

I remember one night sitting in bedding knitting and he was in my lap and he started to play. I never saw him play before because he was an older cat. Another night he came and made biscuits into my shoulder. Other nights when I had him kidnapped and kept him in my room I would play Spotify and relaxing cat music and leave it play all night.

I am in tears. I never got to thank him for coming to me. I never got to say a proper goodbye to him. I gave him to a rescue. I couldn't even be there during his final moments.

He came to my home at a time when I really needed him and my other two pets were gone. Losing Sonny and it just compounds it all. The doorstep is different without him sitting on it.

My belly is so sore crying so much for him. He thought me so much. He thought me to be kind to small vulnerable creatures.

I know he wasn't truly my pet but he made my doorstep his.
