I think Arsenal should go for Haaland and here's why
Everyone's dismissing this as fantasy football, but hear me out.
Look at what's happened to City's spine over the past couple years: KDB gone, Rodri's future uncertain, Silva's not getting any younger, and even Pep's aura isn't what it was. The empire that made City City is visibly breaking up. Haaland built his whole game inside that machine, but the machine itself is changing shape around him.
That's exactly the moment a rival should test the water. Players don't leave dominant projects, they leave projects that stop feeling dominant. If City's identity is shifting and the trophies stop coming as automatically, Haaland's calculus changes too. Arsenal, fresh off a title, with genuine Champions League ambition and a squad on the rise, becomes a legitimate alternative in a way it wasn't two years ago.
And forget the tactical nitpicking for a second, yes, he's a penalty-box poacher rather than a link-up 9, yes our buildup play might need adjusting. But a player of Haaland's caliber elevates literally any team he joins. You don't turn down a generational goalscorer because your system needs tweaking, you tweak the system. Great managers build around great players, not the other way round. Arteta's shown he can adapt (see: Havertz at false-9). He'd find a way to make it work.
We can't do another season with Gyökeres. No fear factor, no X factor. Haaland gives us that instantly, defenders don't sleep easy against him.
Bottom line: the door that's always been shut at City is cracking open as their golden generation disperses. Arsenal should absolutely be knocking.
